Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - yurineova - 10-30-2007 *Luc sits up after reading the initial info and ignored the posts that followed it.* Question: With this knowledge, is it potentially possible that Humans (Me not being one, but still, curious) will be able to pilot such nomad crafts in the near future? Furthermore, are we now able to potentially locate some weakness on these vessels? Finally, Is there still mroe to come? Great info, but as research progresses, sadly, so do the questions... Even if we find the meaning of life, there still would be questions to THAT... ((Great info, looks great, but may spawn an excuse to use nomad vessels in the future.)) Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Magoo! - 10-30-2007 Hmm... Fun stuff. Some points! Uno - On the subject of the Super-Nomad in the video... It appears to me, to be a giant fighter more than a battleship or anything. Only rounder, and round all the way. Kinda like this: <000 It looks like it sends out some sort of probiscus that shoots the Omega-Death beam. Kind of like: <000--O~~~~~~ Dos - I disagree on your theory that the Nomad brain is inserted through E. If you spliced open a squirrel, gave it a labotomy, and stuck it (the Squirrel Brain) in some Jello, would it (the Jello) spring to life?... ... Not that I've tried, but my guess is no. I think it is more likely that the Nomads were genetically engineered as a new species. A sort of test-tube baby. In the areas where Nomads are sold (ships), it says, "*something about organic nature* So it seems more likely that it was grown rather than built." ... Something along those lines. I don't think the brains are parasitic to the jelly-goodness... It's more like the jelly-goodness, with the electrical impulsiness of the brain, and thus control, are parasitic to humans... But natural to the Nomads. Just like Human flesh. If the gel gets into a human, you get a Wild. The brain's enormous power could probably psycically control the human by attaching its flesh to the brain, to transfer electrical impulses from the Nomad brain... Or just revamp Human impulses, but take over all control. How the goo gets liberated from the Nomad, I'm not sure of. So really, the Human, if stuck inside the Nomad (Magootachi), is the symbiote to the Nomad. Only the Nomad has more control over itself than the Human does; because its fleshy-goo flows in through bodily openings... See previous paragraph or first sentence of this one. Think that's all... Bye bye! Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Praetyre - 10-30-2007 Actually, the Nomad sunkiller's closest analogy in Star Wars is the Sun Crusher (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sun_Crusher). On Topic (A work of mine, to add to the topic, as it deals with Nomad infiltrators, not ships): **INCOMING TRANSMISSION** FROM: Ensign Praetyre Quintane, Captain of the TOS Thoth TO: Global SUBJECT: Nomad Information Announcement Nomads are a race originally created by the Dom Kavash (A species that ruled a vast, multigalactic empire tens of millions of years ago, including Sirius, and created the Alien Artifacts) in order to protect their holdings, much as prehistoric humans engineered lupines for assault and protection. The Dom Kavash mysteriously dissapeared (likely via a process of material sublimation in which the external energy conscioussness of the Dom Kavash passed beyond physical existence), and the Nomads were left behind. Nearly all Nomads viewed humans as intruders, and treat them like, say, the Liberty Navy would treat trespassers into Alaska Nomads are bluish creatures capable of infecting humans presumably through a process in which the Nomads beak (and presumably genitalia) are forcibly inserted into a humans mouth cavity and a Nomad grows as a result of this impregnation, causing pain to it's host. The Nomad then gains a form of control (presumably from extending it's beak) after adjusting to it's host and can control it's host fully, speaking human languages fluently and being capable of comprehending complex human political structures at an incredible rate. Here's a security camera still, taken from the Battle of Mitchell, 800 AS The Nomad in question had previously possessed Rheinland Chancellor Niemann, who had been shot by freelancer Edison Trent just as he was about to infect President Barbara Jacobi, head of state and commander-in-chief of Liberty; Nomads use several different types of ships and equipment. These are as follows; WARNING: Purchase of Nomadic ships, which are indeed sold on certain Zoner bases, is not advised. Anyone attempting to procure a Nomadic vessel will be considered Kill-On-Sight with the Order. Nomad Fighter; The snub ships of the Nomads, functioning as fighters and bombers. They possess 3 guns. Nomad Gunboat: Light capital ships of the Nomads, possessing 6 guns, two of which fire only from the rear as per engineering study. Nomad Cruiser: Medium capital ship, of which little is known due to it's lack of use by Nomads. It possesses many guns and is heavily armed and armoured. Nomad Battleship: The most powerful Nomad ship known, longer than a Rheinland battleship and almost as well armoured. Possesess an enormous number of guns. One has been sighted in Liberty affiliated with Lane Hacker groups, though the Hellfire Legion denies direct association with the Harbinger. There are rumours of an even more powerful Nomadic ship capable of destroying an entire star and being so large as to be seen from across tens of millions of kilometres, but such reports, if they are true, are now regarded as rambling and legend, much like the legendary 3 lost sleeper ships detailed on Malta. Equipment; WARNING: The vast majority of Sirius factions have severe restrictions as to the usage of Nomadic weaponry. Precise examples are classified, but a generally accepted principle is no more than 2 Nomadic weapons a ship. Effects of Nomadic weapon possession are still unknown. Nomad Laser; Comes in several different varieties in power and is apparently impossible to obtain from Nomad vessels, staying locked and disentegrating if a human captures it. All are deadly, fast, and powerful. Nomad Prototype: 30 year old classified Liberty project destroyed after the war. No examples available, beyond reports of usage among some advanced Defenders in the Battle of New York, 800 AS. Nomad Energy Blaster: A faster moving, powerful, lootable Nomad weapon. Capable of blasting rapidly and powerfully, though not as powerfully as the Cannon. Nomad Energy Cannon: A slower moving, more powerful and lootable Nomad weapon, capable of blasting at a slower rate but being more powerful than the Blaster. Nomad Turret: A moderately fast, extremely powerful Nomad capital ship weapon used on all Nomad capital ships. Capable of quickly taking out most targets, and consumes little energy. Major disadvantage is that of high cost and restriction of access. Nomads are primarily found in the following areas; Omicron Minor: Information is restricted. Nomadic incursion is high. Omicron Major: A dead system beyond Omicron Lost, Omicron Delta and all other systems in Sirius. It lies at the edge of Sirius, and contains a Hypergate, a Dom Kavash technology which can transport thousands of ships instanteously across the Galaxy, possibly into Coalition space. There are in actuality 2 components to each system, the 1st being a greenish cloud in an anamolous sky which seems to defy all astronomic explanation. Navigation systems mysteriously fail and the gate is currently closed. The 1st system is a hyperprojection that essentially functions as a massive jump gate in the shape of the surface of a Dyson sphere. It contains real turrets and real, 30 year old Nomadic ships. Contains a single, mysterious brown planet which manages to resist all surveys and scans. Above extreme caution is advised. In the 2nd system, there is a massive, citylike surface and a large Nomad City which also functions as a hypergate. Navigational systems also fail, Nomad ships haunt the area and a mysterious asteroid field permeats the system. No one has ever traveled so far as to actually meet the end of the sphere, which makes some suspect it is an advanced singularity projection technology beyond all known human explanation. Unknown: Formerly designated as Omicron Beta by an insane spacer, it contains a large, gaseous, asteroid filled cloud about which the size and even the exterior is a total mystery, several jump holes and a Nomad hive. The hive appears to be a Nomad base which also conceals a closed jumpgate. Omicron Major: A faultily labeled system light years away from it's supposed exterior concealing a Nomad power cell and working device. It may function as a superstring particle conversion device relaying power to the Nomad hive. Nothing is known about it's exterior. Omicron Kappa; The location of a mysterious tunnel stretching across tens of light years and concealing a massive brown object and a small black one. This may in fact be the Amadora asteroid field and the Razgriz black hole, but no one has ever travelled to check. It contains 2 bizarre planets, one of which is totally run by Robots as the result of a Zoner expedition, the other of which bears suspicious resemblance to the future Earth of Terran movie "Planet of the Apes", and is populated by simian humanoids seemingly as intelligent as humans. Omicron Delta; Another area part of the same cosmic tunnel, and with no inhabited planets. Is a Corsair, Zoner, Order, Bounty Hunter and Nomad war zone, with battleship patrols dotting the area. Information is restricted due to agreements with the Zoners and Corsairs. Omicron Iota; A dead system that is a near copy of the Sigma 17 system, and originally contained the Freeport 7 system destroyed 800 AS by Nomadic ships. For unknown reasons, the Freeport 7 wreckage was towed to Sigma 17, possibly for political coverup purposes or as part of a Nomad coverup. Is the 2nd furthest system in Sirius and has a strange effect where eventually all goes totally black far beyond the system border. Contains one mysterious, large purple planet about which nothing is known. Notable Nomad People; Unknown Possessor of Niemann: A possibly high ranking infiltration Nomad which possessed Chancellor Niemann presumably as the result of a briefing with one of His Excellency's Admirals. Died 800 AS as result of shot from President Barbara Jacobi. Taurvi: Classified hybrid experiment flying Nomad fighter sighted in Liberty and, just today, Rheinland. ADVISE CAUTION. Harbinger: Nomad battleship sighted alongside Lane Hacker forces. ADVISE EXTREME CAUTION. Starvation: Unknown Nomad fighter, rarely sighted. ADVISE CAUTION. Experiment-009-Omicron; Classified CRI/BAF experiment. Flies Nomad fighter, sighted in Nomad space. Speaks in strange form of English and seemingly protects humans. ADVISE CAUTION. **TRANSMISSION ENDS** Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Vape - 10-31-2007 i thought this wasnt supposed to be an rp thread for others.... man i have a real way of pissing people off. cant wait for more info, good luck unit Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Praetyre - 10-31-2007 It was not the RP that was annoying people, Vape. It was the fact you brought in things from a universe which is far, far, far more advanced than FL. Star Wars has 1024 sectors, many of which are larger than Sirius. A smugglers ship can travel across the whole Galaxy in a day or so. And it's HIGHLY unlikely the Vong are related to the Nomads. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I present Exhibit A; Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I present Exhibit B as the Nomad image above. Come to think of it though, the Kwa COULD be related to the Dom Kavash; http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kwa Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Vape - 10-31-2007 yes they could be related, wed need dna samples and the only way to get them would be to get to the galaxy they are from, but that is billions of light years away. and praetyre, that image is of a vong Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Treewyrm - 10-31-2007 Sorry for being harsh, but can we, please, leave SW universe alone? For the matter of fact just leave all other well-known sci-fi universes alone. We're talking about a game, a game universe. And I seriously don't get that 'advanced' statement. It's a different universe, period. Sounds like you're really comparing apples and oranges, good job. Stop comparisons. Seriously, get over with it, or make a new thread (preferably in flood section) and discuss similarities all the way you want. It's not that they are "highly unlikely related", they are unrelated completely. It's a Freelancer, folks, not SW and SW galaxy isn't far away, it's just not there. Unit-sk855 did a great job on that "research post" and you just come in and hijack it with your "sw vong nonsense"... that's not nice in my opinion. Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Vape - 10-31-2007 no problem treewyrm, i got what i deserved but in a way, the kwa are related to the dom kavash Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Unit-sk855 - 10-31-2007 Ok response time. Still have not amended my first post, but know that when i do "publish" the research, and make the appropriate rp post about it all the details will be amended. The first change as such will be detailing more on the nomad ship bone structure. The second suggested change was the insertion point of the nomad brain. On that note of information, I have a differing opinion. The different types of nomads known in the discovery universe have a different commodity along with them. The only Nomad's not existing are the cruisers, infiltrators, and the large nomad system killer. The other three, fighter, gunboat, and battleship are present. "Nomad ships usually drop small capsules with strange organic matter when destroyed. These capsules contain 'brains' of the ship, an neuron controlling device. Basic nomad brains found in nomad fighters are remotely controlled by Minor brains and superior brains of larger nomad ships. Research stations always pay large rewards for uninjured brains." By this notation on the dropped commodity, I've inferred some details. The brain of the nomad is not a permanent part of the ship. Its ability to be ejected from the ship upon destruction could pose as a means of saving the nomad brain and placing it into another ship. Growing a machine styled ship could be less complex than a computer like control unit. Or the nomads could be trying to retain knowledge learned by each ship. If a nomad fleet is destroyed outside of nomad space, the larger ships may be able to transmit the data of their own destruction, and what every ship was seeing at the time of the larger ships death. After that however, the smaller ships could obtain valuable knowledge, that may be recovered later by the nomads by picking up these capsules. Also, the "brain" having the ability to be injured as stated in the info card, places that it is an organ of shape and form in some way. If it was only jelly, then it could be mixed up, stirred, spun, and shaken and its injured status would only be determinable by burns or cracks in the capsule. Nomads as noted also communicate through the use of telepathy. This function also could be what the brains use to control their ships, much like how they control whatever host body they are in in. The end result of however they control a host body or ship is the brain of the nomad is controlling the body of the host. Being that the ships the zoners are growing are not fully attacking in a nomad fashion, they lack the required equipment, a brain. Also, its not a matter of inserting a brain into an item not meant to receive one. The ships are grown into a form meant to accept a parasite relationship with its controller. They are alive, but do not have a consciousness. The nomad parasite, or implanted hybrid, assume control through whatever means. The main point is, the brainwaves and thoughts of the parasite control the body. The point E of being the insertion point has a few reasons behind it. The video uses that opening to expel the large projectile. When the ship first shows up, that opening is not there and the ship appears to be a "normal" nomad vessel. Then it pulls in on itself, charges energy, opens up and expels it. This opening could be means for insertion of the brain, and differing types of weapons. The Lysosomes I noted exist in full nomad ships yet are absent in the purchasable grown ones. Also, the circular symmetrical nature of the ship would point to this opening being where it is, rather than on the side of the ship somewhere. I also was considering absorption straight through the skin of larger objects, but that would complicate the armor layer analysis. Even though a cell membrane would allow this, a cell wall would not. The nomad ships which possess an armor layer, similar to a cell wall, would potentially disallow such engulfing of objects. The opening bypasses the armor layer. Also this opening would be sealed through the point and maintain pressure in space. when opened, it would be large, and expandable. So those are my reasons behind the topics so far. Now to answer some questions. Will this research aid in normal humans being able to pilot nomad ships. Probably not, it would take a hybrid nomad human, a telepath, or a nomad to fly a nomad ship. Now it would be possible to take this research, and try and build and incorporate a human style cockpit and controls as well as attempt to link such cockpit to the nomad ship. So if a player can elude to this being done in a way that satisfies the community as their excuse to pilot a nomad ship, be my guest. I however will stick to the assumption that technology incorporation outside of tapping into the nomad ships power source is beyond human ability. The identification of what does what in the ship on a macro level is only the start of understanding. Such integration would require full understanding on a micro level. Basically that means, i know what the organs all look like and do, but i cannot rebuild them. The systems are not yet understood in function, just in practice. Now if Alice finds a certain willing nomad that she hears floats around delta, then Alice may be able to learn these functions. With that, a more detailed viewpoint could be established, though conventional technology still could be underdeveloped to be able to link in a control fashion. Finding weaknesses? Thats one of the main reasons for Alice's research. The others are to complicated to explain and stay on topic. Also, This currently is not a Roleplay post. It is a forum for discussion of pending roleplay involving nomads and their "factual" data. Being as the game did not come with an analysis of the creatures, we have to make it up. Instead of only one view i would like a consensus, so if anyone wants anything changed or added and they can offer good alternatives or points to be added please do so. Comparisons to other things are ok with me as long as it is in reference to something working in comparison to something that has worked. So comparing a nomad ship being piloted by a human to the episode of battlestar galactica where Starbuck flew one is fine, if it is in reference to something being suggested as possible because of points in the episode. However, trying to say that cylons are possible because of links to nomads well not so much ok with me. I do appreciate the support and responses, and im glad you all are posting. Also, i am not knocking those that did post RP related threads. The goal of the topic is to analyze nomad facts and apply them to later RP, so if you want to put up RP nomad related stuff for analysis be my guest. Please however hold of on having characters outright post their thoughts and such on the research because i have not compiled it in character yet. Kind of going paradox on me:D Also, thanks for reading my long winded hot air =^.^= Nomad Anatomy and Physiology - Smiley_ - 10-31-2007 Regarding nomad ships and who can use them, I think that it takes a special kind of nomad/human hybrid to fly one of these ships. A simple and unaltered host would probably suffocate inside the ship that was made solely for nomad use. I would classify hosts into three categories. Lesser Hybrid. Normal nomad control scenareo. Nomad ships would be restricted. Probably a politician, but still essentially human. Greater Hybrid. You can't tell where the nomad starts and the human ends. Something akin to Taruvi. Closer to one lifeform than two. Nomad ships are usable due to modified essence as it were. True Hybrid. Absolute cooperation and symbiosis. They are of both worlds and neither at the same time. The two part's are indiscernible. Really, theoretical in nature. Use of nomad ships? Can be disputed either way but unlikely because this is an entirely new life form entirely. Pure nomad: Can use a ship. I assume ship bound nomads are more comfortable in ships than in people though. Human. No, very doubtful. Suffocation and all that. Also, are nomad ships calcium or lead or silicon or carbon based? Really, what do we know about that? My character's research is more concerned about nomad psychology, not physiology, so who am I to say? |
