101st Ghosts of Razgriz Communication Channel - Zapp - 01-25-2008

**Incoming transmission**
From: Giovanni Cordova
To: All 202nd new recruits and 101st verterans

OK, I've had an idea to get some training going. I'm going to offer five million credits to the first Sabre to beat a gunboat in 1v1 combat. Yes, you heard me. I'm doing this to increase our anti-gunboat skills, as we seem to be dealing with a lot of them lately...

Anyway, here's a few restrictions:

It has to be a 1v1 fight. No help from another Sabre buddy of yours; two Sabres against a gunboat is a pretty easy fight, and three is pretty much a guaranteed win.

I suggest you use an Inferno to get past the shields, but what weapons you use is entirely up to you...

When you've done this, be sure to send me...
1.) scans to confirm that it was a gunboat you killed
2.) scans to show that you indeed fought alone
3.) the death-message recorded by your blackbox which also show all sensor data (I.E. Sensor box is open and set to the '!' and it shows the death message right above it)

Also, this can't be done in a flight simulator, folks... pretty easy when you set all the knobs to 'Super Easy'. I want this to be against hostiles, preferably Corsairs or the IMG.

And yes, I'm competing too. Just to add a little excitement, and give me a chance to not be down 5 million credits.

Giovanni Cordova, out

Brothers and sisters,

I returned fom Buffalo Base and was debriefed on Malta. Afterward, I picked up on long range sensors the ship Scornstar in the Tau 37 system. He is a known Order gunboat, so I decided to engage him in my Sabre to try to collect Giovanni's prize money. I engaged, but was unable to take his shields down with my Inferno. He was slowly wearing through my shield batteries and I was thinking of retreating when none other than Giovanni appeared to assist. Together, we engaged and destroyed Scornstar with no further difficulty. Unfortunately, Giovanni's assistance forfeited any prize winnings.

I returned to Malta to repair my ship and returned to low orbit to find Zapp and the Blue Lotus Grandmaster ship as well. The Grandmaster ship docked with Malta and shortly thereafter a mercenary flying a Bounty Hunter gunboat emerged from the docking ring. Apparently, his presence went unnoticed on Malta, because I'm sure my fellow brothers and sisters would not have let him visit without consequence. The callsign of this ship, I believe, was [NoFear]Mrav (possibly inaccurate, I didn't take much note of his name).

He refused to leave Omicron Alpha so Zapp and I engaged in our Sabres. The battle went very well: whoever wasn't being fired at with the gunboat's turrets would make attack runs. We were both armed with Infernos, so we made quick work of his shields and began eating away at his hull. He fled to Beta where, after muttering something about suicide on the systemwide frequency, flew into the planet there and disintegated. Zapp and I found no escape pods and can only assume he was killed or quickly gathered by the GMG, so we returned to Alpha and docked.

Excellent work, pilots. On that note, I'd like to inform you all that some interesting papers have fallen onto my desk, and that we should be very wary of anybody with 'Fear' anywhere in there callsign. My broken leg is healing quit nicely, so the doctors say, and I should be back on the bridge of the Alhambra soon enough, or even the Requiem, assuming they finish construction on the forward gun soon (which I am in doubt of...) Bonello out.

I was showing a fellow member of the 202nd the location of Corsica earlier today. It was his first time there, and he really enjoyed the view, especially of the black hole. We decided to take a closer look at it and take some pictures. We cruised up pretty close (we wanted some good pictures, hehe) and before the gravity became any problem at all we were assailed by nearly lethal amounts of radiation. I've never experienced such a torrent. My ship lost power quickly, despite my efforts to escape back to Corsica. I barely managed to get my eject pod out in time. I'm burned up pretty badly, and my ship, I can only assume, is powerless and floating toward the hole. Hopefully I'll be up and at 'em soon. The damn hospital beds here are uncomfortable and the bar is expensive.

Oh, and all of my pictures were lost. It's a shame, because it actually was pretty before I nearly died.

Subject: Excursion

My brethren,

The excursion with Enrique was a fascinating experience for the both of us. After a brief visit to the Dreadnought Captana, we decided to head to the Corsica Outer Sanctum. Since it was my first visit in the system, you can imagine my surprise when, as soon as we exited the Austera Nube, a black hole in all its frightening glory loomed in the distance. It was unnerving to say the least. Regardless, brave souls that we were, we continued to the station. After a rest and some cardamine, we decided to further test our courage and venture as far as we dared into the unknown. I managed to capture an image of the view out of my cockpit as seen below:

This second picture was taken just moments before our ships were destroyed by the radiation.

For the moment, both of our ships are under repairs which should hopefully be completed soon.

...alright, boys, I thought this was a given, but here it is: do not fly into the black hole. How do you think poor Ferdi got like he is? That's how we lost Jeffy Sanchez. They all felt some desperate need to get a closer look at yonder black hole. Whoopde-friggin'-doo. Now that we've got that out of our system, I think I can say this safely:

All units should maintain a distance of Twenty Kilometers from the Black Hole. Look, don't touch.

Good? Good. Okay, back to work, kiddies.

OK, Giovanni here, and I'd like to report that we got this rust-bucket in the air. Then a Hogasha-tagged Kusari destroyer came by and started shooting at us. It was a mess... I said 'Hard to port', Esperanza said 'Hard to starboard'.... I need some practice...

*Esperanza pushes Giovanni out of the camera and comes into view*

WE need practice. Anyway, he beat us, but we're new to this whole Outcast destroyer with two commanders deal. Now we just need to log a few hours in the simulator and get some TEAMWORK.

Well, at least you got her out of dock, even if you had to fall back. Against a Kusari Destroyer? I can't fault you for that. I will advise, if you haven't already, picking up a pair of Hessian Cruiser Missile Turrets and mounting them on the front of the ship; one thing you learn fairly fast as a Destroyer Gunner in Kusari is that those Destroyers they fly down there are very susceptible to explosive fire; their weapons just melt off like a case of butter in the Alhambra's engine vent. Once my leg heals well enough for me to walk unassisted I'll bring the Peri out of spacedock-she just got back from lease to Hellfire-and we'll practice. Bonello out.

All units, be advised, there are reports of elite Brotherhood squadrons making regular incursions into Eta at 2200 GMT. You are hereby authorized to reinforce the RoS forces primarily responsible in that sector as much as necessary. Bonello out.

Greetings! I'm still not fully recovered from my "excursion" to the black hole, but my replacement Sabre has arrived and I'm getting prepped for departure. Don't worry, Bonello, I won't do it again. I learned my lesson. At least I was lucky enough to not come out like Ferdi. He's a nice guy and all, but jeez... (just playin')

I've heard this rumor about the Corsair raid and I'll be sure to take a nap just prior to the defense. You can count on me being there, sir. It's been awhile since I've had the chance to fight some Corsairs, I wouldn't miss it.

Brothers and sisters,

The last few days have been interesting. I've headed into Omicron Gamma for a failed raid (those Corsairs can really come out of the woodwork quickly) and I've traveled to New York for some somewhat successful piracy. I haven't been able to make it to the large scale battles in Omicron Eta with the Corsairs, but I've heard that ion storms have made any kind of fight difficult. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm concerned by the lack of activity lately. I haven't seen anyone in space from either 101st or 202nd in awhile. The only sighting is some sort of ship with a 101st tag that seems to be having trouble with comms. All I get is static in response to my hails. Weird.

So... where is everyone? Flying with the RoS, while an honor, is not the same as flying with my fellow 66th comrades. I'm getting lonely...
