Fihghter Missle Resistance test - The Damned - 01-29-2006 Ok here is my opinion after doing some more tests. First I don't wanna talk about the imported ships - it's all there in the statistic. Second - ships like the Tiatan are bocoming obsolete. Wanna know why? Firts look at the numbers. The big problem between my requirement for increase in the Titan's agility and Dab's dissagreement with that dies today. TITAN HAS THE SAME RESISTANCE AS THE EAGLE VS MISSLE WEAPONS. ALL SHIPS FROM THE GAME REACT IN A VERY SIMILLAR WAY TO MISSLE IMPACT - THEY BLOW UP, REGARDING OF THE SHIP'S HULL AND CLASS. My suggetion: either make the Titan a pirate bober , or just forget about using other ship than marsflyer , slipstream and eagle. Yeah that is perfectly shown in the results - these ships are the best. A player in other type ship has very little chance against them ( especially slipstream ) . The eagle is vurnable as all game ships to missles , but that dosent matter much - he is more agile than everything there... Another radical suggestion : All LF from the same level have very close agility specifications. The VHF have nothing close. Make the VHF agility specifications close to each other. This will make things. And if we are thinking of importing bombers than they must be different class ships with a different agility. One more thing. Its not the gun mounts number and hull points that makes a fighter good. Its the agility. And by this paragraph a lot of ships are obsolete. It dosen't matter that my Titan has 12 600 hull , not 9 900 like the eagle. This advantage gives me 1 more second life. But in a fight where the eagle is always behind my back this means nothing. It dosent pays for me to spend more $$$ on the Titan when i can get the cheaper Eagle. If were gonna have things right the ships key statistic is agility. No matter how much hull and guns will be there. Fihghter Missle Resistance test - The Damned - 01-29-2006 Suggestion: Make the Titan a Borderworld Bomber. Keep his agility. Increase his hull to the level of a RH bomber. Add torpedo mounts. Increase energy. Reduse the agility of RH bomber to the agility of the Titan. Make the Centuron a counterpart of the Eagle. Increase his powerplant , make him be able to mount LV 10 guns and equipment. Increase his agility to the agility of an Eagle. I think thats a good option. If I were attacking a Bretonia Destroyer for example, I'd prefer to be in a Titan rather than an Eagle. Why? The extra power for the guns, extra bots/bats and the extra armor *multiplied by the armor upgrades* makes a significant difference. Agility is less important in these situations if you know how to use CMs and have the right weapons loadout. Of course this wasn't the case in original Freelancer, where the Eagle was clearly the best ship. We have Igiss to thank now! 2. There is a knack to fighting a ship which is more agile than your own, but not many use the right tactics. Trying to beat a more agile fighter with your own agility is wrong. In some situations it's better to slow down, and even get into the habit of using turret view with a fighter. Know when and when not to use engine kill, mines and missiles. In some cases it's even worthwhile stopping dead and flicking between forward and turret view (choose a better key). Don't forget it's possible to fire forward guns in turret view, there is a much better arc. Assuming your more agile opponent has less armor and firepower, try to force him/her into a head-on confrontation. Good luck! Eagle: Good turning rate and good firepower. Using engine kill turning around and using thruster against a LF in a head to head pass. The ship with more, and stronger, weapons will almost always do more damage than the LF or less powered fighter. Titan: High armor and good firepower. Use its armor. Head to heads also work well here but also using turret view here works well too. Sabre: Good armor and high firepower. Try head to heads as much as possible. Fire at the other person as much as you can as you might get lucky and hit them. This method is usually known as spray and pray. I apply it when my ship is not as maneuverable as the enemy ship. As i have RH bombers and sabres, and everybody goes arround in eagles or slipstreams, i use it very often... If that does not works, dual novas make quick work of the enemy. :) Only the RH bomber can withstand 2 novas. And only when shields are up. |
