Police using Military ships - ProwlerPC - 04-10-2011 There really shouldn't be anything wrong with Police factions using VHFs, Bombers and GBs on top of the LFs. Any Police organization worth it's salt maintains at least one unit equipped with heavy hardware. Then I will nelieve you are just countering me like a debate. And yes, this is not real life. I think SWAT should use military shtuff, regular not. GB restricted to high-ranking SWAT. I am refering to the LPI because idk BPA, KNF, or RFP ranks and stuff. /2cents Police using Military ships - Cond0r - 04-10-2011 But you already said that Gunboats should be open use, why are you contradicting yourself now. And with the posts before this one, that would make more than 2cents:happy: Police factions shouldnt be limited by ships. There is no reason why they shouldnt be using very heavy fighters, especially with what pirates have these days. Besides, its green cell. Police using Military ships - mjolnir - 04-10-2011 Idea was that all police factions get own "heavy" ship to help with taking down transports: Grizzly for LPI Mjolnir for RM Kusari Explorer for KSP BAF can use Paladin even though it's not primarily meant for them, should probably get something extra, they used to use Havoc MKII civilian bombers That said there's nothing keeping them from using VHFs either. When you think LPI, you go Libbys. You think,SWAT, you think of heavier stuff. SWAT also fields heavy vehicles, so GBs for those who attain a certain rank. LPI-SWAT has permission to use them. Thats what I mean. /4cents Police using Military ships - Zweibrucken - 04-10-2011 ' Wrote:Idea was that all police factions get own "heavy" ship to help with taking down transports:good idea:) Police using Military ships - Hielor - 04-10-2011 LFs are useless in the current state of Disco. Police have two primary jobs: 1. Interdicting freighters/transports carrying contraband 2. Taking care of ne'er-do-wells. 2a. Pirates in VHFs 2b. Pirates in Bombers 2c. Pirates in freighters/transports 2d. Pirates in gunboats Of these, LFs can only really do well in 2b, where their maneueverability gives them an edge. In the other situations, a police in an LF will get either smoked or ignored. VHFs, on the other hand, can handle all of the above with the exception of 2d. A police officer flying an LF is like a bicycle cop in a world where everyone is driving tanks or semi trucks. On my (indie) LPI I fly an Eagle, which are sold in Illinois--obviously they're intended for LPI to use them. A couple days ago, I take off from Manhattan and here's an official faction LPI chasing down a smuggler freighter in his Libby...and not even getting through the shields. So I hop in and help take him out, and the fight's over pretty quick. This LPI official faction...person...then proceeds to tell me that I'm not allowed to use the Eagle because it's reserved for SWAT members only. Uh...yeah, only if you're in the official faction, where they want their members to be flying around in worthless little LFs for some reason. This is why I will never join the LPI official faction as long as they're artificially limiting their members to worthless ships. The situation might be different come 4.86, when LFs will have a speed advantage, but what then? Congratulations, you've caught up with your quarry, but now you can't do anything to him. Also: ' Wrote:I mean now LPI can do same as LN except fight Rheinland. But they have TLAGNET for their use.Yeah, that's kind of the point. LPI are supposed to be better than LN at policing the core house systems. I'm sure there just was a small misunderstanding there - If you absolutely for some reason would want to use the Eagle, you can from Sergeant and up. Or if you ask nicely. And don't underestimate LFs. Really, the thing about the LPI is that we usually won't patrol alone - that's our intention at least - and that is one of the main advantages of and reasons why we use LFs. They're great in packs of two or more. I don't think you've ever seen a Libby swarm in action before. That makes sense. Police using Military ships - Error - 04-10-2011 Yes. Yes, it does. It works and has worked for 4+ years. LFs aren't for everybody, VHFs aren't for everybody. The LPI and most other police factions are and have always been a LF-heavy factions. If that's not your thing, spend a little more time ingame, rank up and buy whatever you want, or try the Military/Navy factions. Or stay indie, like you already are - whatever floats your boat. |
