Mandatory public roster? - Denelo - 06-22-2011

How about we take this to its logical conclusion? Let's make the admins give a perfect, always-fully-updated list of every character on the server, that character's alignment, and the player who plays that character. At the same time, they must also know all the alternate forum accounts of every player, and keep them fully published as well. You like?

Maybe you want us to keep a perfectly-updated list of our ships' loadouts as well?

Seriously, that's just pointless. It's a lot of work and a loss of anonymity for no real apparent reason.

The problem is that giving an example is all about the point of view and it turned the community into a community of small groups and reversing such a process is extremely difficult.

People seem to have a huge thing over 'transparency,' as if it will create instant accountability and fix all of our problems. As if 'transparency' is something we should strive for at all times. All 'transparency' like this would end up doing is feeding flames and creating more paperwork.

Das Wilde has a roster of all players in our faction information thread and their main characters. In the past when we've had members want to keep their identity secret they've had to have an alt forum account with which to post their stories.

But DW is a small tightly knit group, and people leaving isn't all that common or un-noticed. Public factions have people leaving all the time, mostly unannounced, which makes it a bit of work to keep up with a faction roster.

Very annoying actually. I don't see you proposing to do anybody else's workload.

Ok, why should we need a public roster ?

If someone broke the roles does it matter who is player behind it ?

If someone shot you and insulted you (inRP) does it matter who is player behind it ?

No, it would bring people to oorp hatred more then it is at this moment.

But even now 90% of roosters are public and can be found in people's faction status.

Quote:My vote:
Yes. It would add transparancy as well as players should feel more responsible for their action. It would be protection from fake members. It could be also be used to contact personally a player whom deserves some feedback.

In other words so you can bug someone till he gets annoyed by pm-es cause you didn't have time to report him ? I don't think so.

The faction leader and the entire faction take the hit if one of it's members gets honestly nailed for being an arse. If one of my guys is being an arse toss me some evidence, I assure you I will deal with it, it's in my interests to deal with it.

No. There is no need. Administrators ensure that a player takes responsibility for their actions.

If you have feed back regarding the actions of an OSI or GMS member, you are free to contact me or the other leaders of those factions. We'll deal with it and if the member in question feels like talking to you about it, they'll contact you. As for fake members? We are already protected. If I see one I don't know, I ask around. If no one knows, I submit sanction report and have the tag removed.

All this does is create more work for faction leaders, with no benefit for the work.

No, it's just not necessary.
The only thing required should be a public listing of the ship names, in order to easily verify if a tag is being used without permission.

We already have that.
