Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - Zelot - 11-23-2011 Vice doesn't necessarily drive people away.... Look at Las Vegas for example. I'll even list off a few of the synonyms for the word vice, and you can decide if it's really beneficial for publicity: Oh really? So in all Sirius is like that? Please you are making me laugh sir. All people need to satisfy their most deep and dark perversions, and by that need they often look over things that are immoral. Check advertisements nowadays (RL), most of them would fit in your category of "not good public image", yet they attract people. I believe that your argument is based on false premises, the first one being "people are good". I can assure you that the things that happen inside OS&C resorts and liners stay there because of a reason. Some of them are not even postable in the forums. Yet, if we are gonna be strict RPers, we can't overlook that. People with power have always been attracted to the most vicious of pleasures, and people with power are our primary customers at Shetland. Look at Las Vegas for example.Good point. @Greyhound My argument was based on the strict definition of the word. Nothing more. I never said anything on whether or not OSC did or didn't cater to vices, nor did I say anything about ignoring it. I was talking about public image. As for RL advertisements, I wouldn't know a thing about what they're like in Uruguay. I imagine they'd be a bit different than what I see up here in Canada, though. I'm not even sure what the point of this argument is anymore. I can't see any separate sides anymore, just slightly different ways of presenting the same stance. Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - Markus_Janus - 11-23-2011 If moving the Liner is not too much of a hassle for the next mod update, then moving it is of course the best action. While Dab asked for other places besides Cambridge to be mentioned, that depends on if it is to stay in Bretonia. There is no better place in Bretonia then Cambridge that I can see. Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - Azan27 - 11-23-2011 One of the things we have to remember about the Shetland is its proximity to other OSC bases. Moving it to cambridge will bring it close to Baden Baden. Just keep that in mind. Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - Gypsie Skripto - 11-24-2011 Yeah but although the target customers in the 'tourism' sector would overlap if too close to each other, the main target customers would remain national. Keep in mind these locations should look visually pleasing, considering that's the purpose of the luxury liner. I have a suggestion besides Cambridge. Was thinking if tourists like close up views of "beautiful gas giants". We have Chester with Planet Shirley. Seeing as Chester is a dead system. Perhaps OS&C could give life to it. Perhaps tourists like dark matter clouds and gas giants. Also, perhaps being shifted to Chester would give Shetland the same reputation as its counterpart the "Hawaii". A haven for people who want to enjoy themselves away from the eyes of the law. Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - jammi - 11-26-2011 I'm on my phone so I'll keep this short. Chester is owned by Bowex and hopefully being developed for the late .86 betas. The Shetland going there wouldn't really be appropriate considering the plans for the place - it's being officially chartered by the Bretonian government. Check the development sub-forum for info on it. It could probably go there later, but that's not the immediate solution you're looking for now. Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - Zynth - 11-26-2011 I'll have to check for more systems then... Newcastle is being taken over by the Frenchies right? Any other options are bringing the Shetland too close to Baden Baden or Curacao. Shouldn't Shetland be moved to Cambridge? - Gypsie Skripto - 11-26-2011 Is New London too crowded for it? |
