RE: Gallians - Silmathien - 11-29-2012 Japanese has a word for everything. :p Also; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallia RE: Gallians - Coin - 11-29-2012 (11-28-2012, 03:48 AM)Miaou Wrote: Gallic or Gauls. Also, Igiss isn't a native speaker of English. For more examples of his fine Inglis, feel free to browse... well, just about any infocard in Gallia. I wouldn't take him as a shining paragon of correct sentence syntax. Gaul is the name of the place and the impersonal pronoun. Gallia is the latinisation of Γαλλία, a greek word, which actually transliterated into the western alphabet is g-a-l-l-i-a. so, by your argument, we should refer to the gauls as Γαλλίkivi (galliniki), people from gallia. We are discussing the impersonal pronoun. basically the difference between the British Isles, and a Briton (a person from Britain) (11-28-2012, 02:20 PM)Thunderer Wrote: I wanted to suggest making a thread like this, or make it by myself, but I thought it would be a bit stupid. this would be fine if we were speaking latin, but nil desperandum, nil illegitimi carborundum. Gallian is fine. Gallic is fine. Gauls are an anachronism; when ever someone tries to start up a space-romans faction, they get shot down. Gauls etruscans and iceni are long gone. it behooves us to do likewise. RE: Gallians - Ander_K - 11-29-2012 Will a word "galling" do? Anyway Gallics is fine too.
