Camping JG's or JHs in asteroid fields, with these, is a different question...

Snubs powercore charges fast enough. Also there'll be enough time while RP'ing with the victim. Having it with no powerdrain, it'll be far too overpowered and abuseable.

Hm such thing would be extremely unbalanced on ships bigger then bomber, it could work only on LFs.
It would make traders and smugglers OP. You can use it while moving on in line making line piracy not possible. Also if there are a lot of npcs and such with the same ship, the trader is invisible, hauler does not need guns/cruise or power if he uses lines only and it is not selectable.Also ID scanning wont be possible....
It is not bad idea for light fighters only if you know how to fix the non-scanable ID issue, but I really doubt that it is possible.
I would rather have LF cloak gen that requires no fuel or really little fuel so one LF can stay cloaked 30-40 min but the gen should keep the energy drained and be big enough in order to prevent the LF to use armour.

Disable ability to dock with it on fixes the first.

As for ID, the abuses possible are limited, as you cannot fire, and people will assume you are up to something if you have it on.

Power core nerf on 'disguise' ships coupled with the cruise drain like properties and the inability to escape by cruise means ID fraud on ships larger than fighters would be suicide once yo turned it off.

If it really is a problem, make a CD disrupt the field.

It is reallly funny how incompetent are you according to the game mechanics.
Try the following thing- select one ship then press ctr+T and go to cd it...
If you cannot select it you cannot Scan or CD it. The abuse of using it on Hauler are unlimited- I can use 5ker with zoner ID and be neutral with all in Sirius to powertrade/Smuggle like boss if you cannot scan me to check my ID. Also I can hug the mooring point and disable the device then quickdock in less then one second, none would be able to scan me. The Omega 3 scanning glitch is with 3-4 seconds duration and really little people know about it or use it.

Even simpler then. He cannot dock with the device on, or 30 seconds after its off. He cant cruise, or shoot, for 10 seconds after its off. It takes time to charge, during which he cannot cruise or shoot. Someone flying with one, if spotted (its a lot easier to see than a cloak still) can be easily followed, as he is really slow. And he cannot escape, because he cannot dock, his shield is down and he cannot cruise.

Its still useful for its intended function, and useless for combat

Thank you for your wisdom masterdev Govedo. When are you going to take part in the mod development with all that knowledge you must have?
Its actually pretty simple, if that thing is used on a transport, its likely one that is trying to hide something, so if either a lawful or a pirate spots it its fair game anyways, not much of a difference to what happens to a normal transport, as soon as he uncloaks to defend himself you can scan the ID, if he doesnt its not really you problem.
If its a Fighter pretty much the same applies.
I dont have to scan your ID if you try to sneak around, you will get asked to stop and explain yourself once, if the answer isnt satisfying you are fair game.
Dont make things more complicated then they are.

I do agree that it may be a little over powered of you use something like this on a trader. Perhaps removing compatibility with the "freighter" class ships? Allow snubs to use it, but not traders/higher class ships?

This sounds more like a Normandy cloaking device.

I like the idea, shielding from scanners would be nice.

Why would you need to CD it? It can't cruise anyway.
