The reason why I point this out is to illustrate a point: multiple official factions can (and frequently will) cause just as much or more drama as a single official faction refusing to play along. Disagreements arise, and then comes the problem of "who decides". Some pick democracy, others pick civil war. Kind of like the real world I guess.

Coincidentally I say this while myself being completely in support of the removal of the single official faction rule, but I want also for people to know that it's not in any way a perfect solution and will bring its own slew of problems. Just different ones.

The main problem, and one that is keeping us from getting rid of this rule is this: official factions currently have the option of helping the devs guide their own lore. Lets say then that there are two official factions for one NPC faction who disagree about the way the NPC faction lore should proceed. Which faction do we listen to? Pick one at random? One with most activity? Both? Neither? No matter which option is taken, one or both will find themselves crying bias. Myself and a couple of others have pondered this problem and have yet to find a suitable solution. If anyone thinks they have one, they are free to come forward and share it.

Is real life not the basis of roleplay? If it isn't, then what do we base roleplay sense out of? Some parallel universe that we -don't- live in? If there's going to be problems then let there be problems, at least it makes sense that way.

I agree with Sindy's statement completely. There are factions that simply should not have their current hierarchy, a good example is the one Sindy gave, the Liberty Rogues. There's no hierarchy within' the whole group, they're all loose criminals. I mean sure there would be a certain group which could be the most powerful due to being the richest, in this case it would be Moka (unless that has changed) but Moka can easily be thrown down if a more powerful group arises (or perhaps not and the two groups would want to be there equally, though I doubt it, considering well..they're pirates) which shouldn't come out of nowhere of course, but you get the point.

Blodo brings up a good point about the dev side of the matter of course. But the thing is, in my opinion at least, Administrators of a supposedly RP server should be the ones actively following what the factions do, and then right or wrong, make a decision. Who cares about the Q_Q that people will make really? It's something expected, you're going to not do something because of an obvious reason that will happen no matter what you do? People already scream bias and Q_Q about everything anyway, that part will -not- change.

How the heck does that make any RP sense? Do they magically shoot a lighting bolt from their hands from some far off place in Sirius and it hits and nerfs the core of a ship located in say, Liberty?

Do you instantly gain the knowledge and parts to maintain said stolen ship?

You would have the blueprints, so yes.

Welp, if someone handed me the blueprints to NASA's space rockets, I wouldn't be able to go build it just like that. It takes just a tiny bit more than "having blueprints".

Okay, breaking it down a bit more:
The bases engineers deal with everything for you?

So you have blueprints, a full staff of engineers and production factilities...

Why the hell did you steal a ship then, instead of just designing and producing your own? Or purchase one?

Your character sounds awfully rich and resourceful, I do hope he's stolen a Shukensa Liner or some other luxury boat, and not just a measly PVP-tool like a bnose - with all those resources, you wouldn't have to work.

Because freelancer won't let us ;_;
It'd be great to make our own ships.

So by getting into a car, you know how to fix it?

What if the ship computer got damaged and you lost the repair manual?
