<span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%]IMG - Lane Hacker Diplomacy - A Reminder

The Lane Hackers are a group of unlawfuls who mainly operate in Magellan and that have a special relationship with the IMG that is an open secret.

The Hackers have the potential to make the shortest route to New York Detroit longer (Cortez detour), more expensive (order to drop cargo) and potentially deadly.

The Guild and the Lane Hackers treat each other neutrally. We are not great friends, and sometimes there are confrontations and problems, but we want them to be neutral.

=> General Rule: Avoid all confrontation.

The Lane Hackers are dependent on Freeport 4 (Magellan) access to supply their hidden bases. So they need the IMG to some extent. We use that to our advantage.

=> Do not be surprised to meet Lane Hackers at Freeport 4.

The Lane Hackers normally do not stop IMG ore convoys as long as they consist of IMG ships.

=> If you want to be safe, only take IMG ships into your convoy.

If Lane Hackers stop IMG only convoys, they normally only make moderate demands which we can easily satisfy.

=> Inform them about the IMG-Hacker diplomacy, but pay them before it comes to a confronation. Screen the incident.

Lane Hackers stop/tax/attack/destroy non-IMG ships even though they are part of the IMG convoy even if there is a superiour IMG escort force.

=> Do not attack the Lane Hackers. Bribe them away, pay them, explain the situation, but never use or threaten the use of force. Find a peaceful solution. Remeber: they Hackers can hit every convoy. We are talking hundreds of millions of losses if they decide to regard us as enemies!

In case a Lane Hacker does something stupid (like charging an IMG only convoy a huge sum), get evidence of the action so that IMG and Lane Hackers can clarify the incident afterwards.

=> Screen everything and avoid violence. In case of an attack, make sure you did everything you could to avoid it and make sure you screened it, so that IMG and Lane Hacker leaders can get rid of the problem.

Thank you for reading this.

Dublin IMG Operations Coordinator

These events took place yesterday.

Event 1: Hogosha, BAF, and Mollys fought a battle in Dublin. EDGE joined in later. I chose not to engage, as the space around the Hood was left alone and both the BAF and Mollys were involved.

Event 2: A Freelancer pilot -ID Jacob- was assaulting rookie IMG pilots near the Hood. He seemed unconcerned with the Hood's return fire, but when I confronted him he left the area. I propose that we keep an eye out for this pilot and any future infractions.

[color=#FF6666]Gallic Brigands entered Dublin today with unknown purpose. We have never seen them in Dublin before and only knew who they are from the Tau reports.

Their force consisting of heavy gunboats with massive firepower, and agile but rather fragile fighters was met by only one IMG Defence ship, so that I ordere the Rockabill to deploy.

The enemy jumped to Leeds when the Carrier took his position and threatened to engage. Rockabill held the position, and returned to Hood after some minutes. No shots were fired.

In Leeds, the Brigands were fought by a mixed force of Outcast and Bretonian Armed Forces pilots. Three IMG Defence pilots, Miles Green, Alexandra Champbell and myself entered the fight. Miles and Alexandra were shot down by one of the powerful gunboat dual or tripple razors before the Brigands were defeated one by one.

I disengaged after Alexandra's ship had been shot to take both Mile's and her pod back to Hood. When I left, one Brigand fighter was still battling superior forces.

Status on the IMG pilots: The doctors said it's only minor injuries that they suffered.

Keep your eyes open for trouble. Tau reports indicate the the Brigand's appearance is no good news.

My gunboat, which I purchased from our Colonial allies not five days prior to this incident, which is worth nearly a billion credits because of the additional armor, and all the upgrades I put on it to make it suitable for an exploration ship, was blown up.
If anyone would like to say anything about this, feel free to write a strongly worded letter to... someone or other. Anyways, yeah, to the head honcho guys of the Guild, here's a report I issued on the subject.

Now I'm off to go desperately try and get as much cash as I possibly can, to fix up the shredded hulk of what was once the Tunguska.

To: IMG Mining, Defence
Location: BS Hood, Dublin /part one/ ; Jakarta Infirmary, T39 /part two/
From: Vernon Vale -part one ; Samuel Vale - part two
Subject: Mining op report

Message begins

Part one
1. Name and vessel type - IMG|Vernon.Vale[M] Mafic
2. Mining location - Dublin , D6
3. Material mined - gold ore. First did some work with our Molly friends filling up a couple of Junker transports. A molly miner - Mike .Oxford had a contract with them, he said. Paid handsomely. Couple of BAF patrols went by and I pretended to hunt Corsair smalls - even joined the BAF for a while. No trouble there.
Much later we filled Peter's transport on the same spot. All clear and calm.
4. Escorts hired - none this time
5. Hostiles encountered - nope, not for me
6. Any other interesting encounter or event - well, except for the Molly working contracts with Junkers, nothing of interest

Part two
1. Name and vessel type - /IMG|Samuel.Vale/ Spatial
2. Mining location - T23
3. Material mined - niobium ore, one Heg cargo haul - Tom Fuller's
4. Escorts hired - not exactly/see below/
5. Hostiles encountered - oh, baby, did we not. First a nosy Junker PTrans named Govedo blew up an indie IMG Heg. Fortunately /I am NOT a good figher pilot/ a merc - Silver.Reaver was around . Blew up the nose off the Junker, he he.
Then it got worse. We were about to start our second run, when a Maquis bomber decided we're good targets for piracy. We managed to reach T39, but he followed us there. As I said, I am a lousy pilot, and the Spat is no feather. So I ended up here in Jakarta infirmary. Tom is in better condition, the doctors said, but the yard is gonna have fun time puting back together his Heg.
6. Any other interesting encounter or event - well, there's a redhead nurse here that's quite the look about her, but that's not what you all need to know anyway...

Hey all, I've been having a lot of fun - but also hardship - coming to terms with mining operations, but so far I'm well on my way to achieving my goals which I'd set out to smash in the first place. Making money has never been so easy!

This was my first mining run as a guild recruit. Horatio and I set out from the Hood in Dublin to the gold mining area by Arranmore base (D6 I believe). It took us a matter of minutes to fill up Horatio's Hedgemon, we then proceeded to go back to the Hood to transfer the collected ore to one of his transport ships for storage.

Attached is Horatio and I setting out from the Hood.

As far as mining trips go, this was a very smooth and uninterrupted one. A success in my book.

Hello again guild members!

My second report involves me and Horatio yet again.. We had a stroke of luck. A Gallian lady by the name of Adrienne was in the Dublin system whom I have done business with before. She needed 4400 units of gold ore to take with her back to Burgundy.. Which was exactly what we had!

The agreed price was 4500 a unit, so we made roughly 20 million credits. Not too shabby! However, because we are such polite gents, we offered if she would like an escort back to Gallian space. She accepted and we were off.

Attached is us leaving the Hood for Reunion station, which was where we parted ways.

We didn't run into any trouble, which was a pleasant surprise. Her transport vessel accumulated no damage.

My final report for today.. I was handed the responsibility of organizing a convoy from the Dublin system to the Detroit munitions base in New York. I must admit I had fun sorting everything out. There were 2 transport vessels filled with gold ore and 2 scout/escorts. I was the forward scout.

With some advice from the group members, it was decided to take the easy route from Dublin to Leeds then Magellan, then Cortez, then California and finally.. New York. It mustn't have taken us 20 minutes.

I kept a good 10 klicks in front of the main convoy to make sure jump gates and trade lanes were safe and accessible.

The novelty of leading a convoy soon wore off after a few jumps and nothing out of the ordinary happened. It was a successful endeavor and we were all a little better off for it.

Setting off from Dublin.

James out.
