RE: Zoners - Zen_Mechanics - 06-11-2013 Yes, it goes with latin its not unique to the discordians, however I suspect others use this as well, same way french folks use "greetings" or " salute". It's an ancient Greek saying that was inscribed on the Golden Apple (a discordian symbol). It pretty much is unique to discordians. Yea, this pretty much describes your knowledge about it... Little history/mythology lesson incoming...
"Kallisti" is an ancient Greek phrase meaning "To the fairest". It was written on the Golden Apple of Discord Eris threw amidst the mob on the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. Three godesses, Hera, Athene and Aphrodite debated to who should the apple belong to, but left the decision to Price Paris. They all offered him stuff to earn his favor: Hera offered wealth, Athene offered wisdom, Aphrodite offered him the most beautiful woman in the world, Helena. Paris was thinking with his "bottom brain" (aka. penis), given the apple to Aphrodite, stole Helena from Menelaos, and bamm, you got the Troyan Wars on you. The phrase has nothing to do with being a Zoner. The phrase is connected to the religion TAZ has chosen for themselves, that is the reason they say it and others don't. I advice you to learn more, read more, but first and foremost: Don't say something you don't know the meaning of. But as Zoners, I think neither have the power to question the authority of the Order regarding nomad materials, right? Mike Rotch actually questions everything, but perhaps he was a bad example. (Or perhaps not, since he is such a character by himself. However, in his RP he is a bit against hurting nomads due to a long and tedious backstory which everyone has no doubt forgotten.) I swear I've seen independent Zoners using it. (Not ZA, before you bounce on that.) Either way, the meaning of a word can change over time. Don't get too hung up on it. Unless this issue is actually an apple of dischord. In which case, it's probably time for the next great Zoner summit. I think n00bl3t may have actually hit on something here. This 'issue' itself is a chance for more Zoner RP. Its kinda weird but if their character also believes in discord I am not one to question it. He gets a kick out of the reaction of it, by pretending like it's not an issue. He's part of the Rotch family from Freeport 1. Edit: Also, senpai/sempai means upperclassmen/senior, depending on context. The family that was on my Zoner exploration ship weren't TAZ, but did grow up in the belief of discord (or maybe it was datcord, not sure). Either way, those darned Gallians ended up killing them. (And yes, that was intentional.) My mobile Freeport (aka my Nephilim) has, in RP, a spot in one of the bio-domes that is set aside for the practitioners of discordia. Including a hot dog cart that has no buns, and a golden apple as the emblem on it's side.
