I'm glad it's gone.

Well without scrap mining the Junkers will no longer have a legal commodity to produce. So what do us legal Junkers do now? Smuggling is the next most profitable option so many Junkers will likely turn to that. The days of seeing Junkers hauling around scrap metal is gone until mining comes back. Since it can't be bought or mined scrap metal prices should skyrocket now. Seriously this was one of the very few things we Junkers could do legally and still be operating within our RP. Please turn it back on and... boost trading, lower mining profits,... or whatever just do not remove scrap metal from us and the game.

I think it should be turned on but it needs to be fixed. People mine for over an hour for gold and Niobium for a 5k. Then halfway through here comes the pirate and makes a reasonable/unreasonable demand. The miner gets mad and more than likely splodes.

Here are my suggestions to correct the situation.

1. Turn on EVERY mining field. Give miners options. You give them only one option and that option does not yield enough and they are going to get pirated over and over.

2. Increase yield/lower prices. By doing this it makes it easier to mine, but also allows them earn a respectful amount of credits. Make it easier for the miner and maybe he won't care if being pirated. Depending on the ore and sale point you could make prices between 3k -7k.

3. Make multiple sale points. That way miners do not have to sell at the same place. If they have more than one option for a sale point then they can possibly avoid the pirate that camps the only route to the sale point.

The problem isn't soley mining. It is also the piracy. Unless you are willing to find ways to balance it you will still have the same problem.

As I said above, you have a miner that mines for an hour and then you have the pirate that comes and takes there ore/credits. The pirate can also steal from the same miner over and over again. Which as you can see would make any miner/trader unhappy.

Just my thoughts.

Let's have a party about it?

Can't see why people hate trading, I'm making around 5 mil per trade route with average gain (1500 credits per unit) Sure it's not 10 000 mil per unit, but hey, it's still profit. People forgot that even trading can be fun - just turn on some music, get someone to chat with and build your empire of credits : ))))

I RPed without any problems after my first four runs. When I have bought BWT transport. My ever first character was a trader, and believe me, RPing as trader is fun too. Why you should begin from superhero which can pilot ships as ace and know stuffs?

An answer to this:

I haven't made my first profit with mining. I tried it after a few months of playing, but never took it too seriously. All my profit was made by dedicated trade. And you know what? I never had more than 70 millions. And I'm not frustrated. This is the game. Don't you see everyone here is crazy about single credits?

I think this would encourage all new members joining trading factions, which would lend them to buy their first ships (trading ones or fighters for escort).

Exactly, turn on your music, or turn on a tv, talk to those around you, RP with pirates, and get rich. Mining made everyone anti-social, and made everyone money hungry. We will enter better times now.

The general attitude of the community is the server

And now try doing it in a starflier. Or even in Rhino.

I made my first profits with mission-grinding, and you know what? SP campaign was like 10 times more fun.

Imagine a server without mining and without restarts-commands. Imagine you'd really have to work your way up from a starflea to your very first proper ship, be it a fighter so you are able to pirate or your first own trader.

Tell you what, there a people around who have played here before Cannon and Dusty came along and made stuff easy. We did it and it didn't kill us, nor will it kill you.
