The future of mining? - Marburg - 03-02-2011 Spent about an hour in here cleaning the thread of about 5 pages worth of crap. Stick to the topic...& if all you wanna do in here is complain without offering anything constructive, then go do it in front of a mirror for a while instead. This little monster grew another 4 pages in the time it took me to go through it all. I have other things to look at around here & shouldn't have to babysit a single thread. The future of mining? - Vladimir - 03-02-2011 I KNOW! Make Hegemon impulse speed to be 15, and make it charging the cruise for 5 minutes. Ye, mini-barge. That'll mean miners will have to have fighter patrols around. Ye, i know there's one problem, this one: bomber still can kill the transport fighter is protecting, just because he'll be dodging and snaccing once in a while. Well, nerf bombers. Maburg, if you have other things to look at, go look at them, nobody is going to thank you for "clearing" the rant about something people are really, really upset about so it's being posted faster than it's being read. Nobody is going to read 33 pages of rant, so what's the point of clearing something that isn't against the forum rules? Noone is going to thank you for that i'm afraid. I repeat it again: Quote:I think this would encourage all new members joining trading factions, which would lend them to buy their first ships (trading ones or fighters for escort). Joining the factions would make newcomers a bit more sociable and communicative with whole of the community. The future of mining? - RedEclipse - 03-02-2011 Turn back good old trading. Mining has given players the opportunity to be more social because they're all focused in one system. Sure they may not talk to each other very much, but they are provided with a more players in which to spark up a conversation. Who can you see on your trading routes that you don't see whilst mining? Pirates? No. Transports? No. Lawfuls? No. People doing the exact same thing as you? No. You can see [b]all[/i] of those people whilst trading and whilst mining. And mining provides a new RP to explore. I took on the job of becoming Gerald Croft, a small-time Basalt miner. You stay in the same system, establish friendships with the same people you work side-by-side with everyday. I made some money (it's become my main source of income actually) and had some great fun with the BAF, NLH, IMG, and many other groups and individual players. I don't see why just because it's popular it has to be removed. I have yet to see evidence that there is a problem, and am asking once again for it to be added to the first post in this thread. As well as a list of pros and cons for this decision. @Chevalier: What, expand the player base of the trading factions at the cost of all of the mining factions? What'd be the point of joining BMM over Bowex? What would be the difference, or the advantage? Imagine you'd really have to work your way up from a starflea to your very first proper ship, be it a fighter so you are able to pirate or your first own trader. You mean - a server without helium-mining but with like 150 players around with gunboats, AUs and stuff? And you`re the only one sorry looser in starflea here? Yeah, sounds like ton of fun. The future of mining? - Pingu! - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote: (1) Sounds good in theory, but you can't hope it will actually happen. For that to work, you would need people to take shifts, watching over indies, and that can just not work. Official factions are not responsible for 'bad actions' of indies. (2) What? I mean, what? Just no. I don't see a reason, why someone should be -forced- to join official faction. And sorry, this is just forcing. Just stupid. (3) Rules, rules and more rules. Sactionlancer. Until someone figures some other way to transfer ore from mining ship, to transport ship ( if no one is around to help), this works fine by me. Thank you, whoever you are. But the point is... uhhh... what's the point? Well, anyway, ye, it looks like great fun, when noobs have to grind missions in starfleas and those who was around to mine for a year has 10+ battleships. Take a starflea and go killing nomads. It's much funner. The future of mining? - Fletcher - 03-02-2011 Mining has brought a lot of good and bad to the server. On one side, mining RP is opened, and a new way to make money, not to mention pirates roaming fields for some more money from miners. On the other side its just another power-money-maker, we get lolwuts all over. Mining is a gold coin, it brings fun and misery. |
