My roots are in Bretonia. My opinion reflects that.

But mistakes can cause massive losses to the IMG, if not fatal losses.

Losing the access to Rheinland again would destroy the following:
  • Access to Silver, Cobalt, Copper in Omage 7
  • Loss of access to the ore markets of New Berlin (Beryllium and Niobium)
  • Another collapse of the Tau 23 Niobium mining (as there is no place to sell it for high revenue)
With Dublin operations downed by the Molly insurgents, we would lose our complete ore business.
  • Silver: mined in Omega 7 (Rheinland shuts that down)
  • Cobalt (mined in O7 and transported to Ingolstadt; shut down)
  • Silver: mined in O7, transported through Rheinland; shut down
  • Beryllium, mined in Cambridge, sold at Berlin; shut down
  • Niobium mined in Tau 23, transported to Berlin; shut down
So there is only one choice: Neutrality. And I hate it. But there is no alternative.

So I cast my vote:

* Military support for: Neither (remain neutral)

As outlined above this is suicide.

* Political support for the Red Hessian cause: [color=#FF9900]Yes, covertly

We owe them. Let's repay by means that do not make us outlaws in Rheinland in case they are not able to overthrow the House. See below.

* Attempt at brokering a ceasefire and diplomatic resolve of the conflict: Yes

As we cannot become involved militarily (see above), but we cannot just lean back and watch, we should become active in brokering a peace agreement. Our diplomatic position might not be the best after our own Omega 7 conflict, but it's worth a try and it will relieve the pressure on us to pick between impossible choices.

This is what I can think of:

1. Pacify Bretonia by taking the following course of action:
  • Offering actively to insert spies into Rheinland
  • Offering to delay any peace process with the Mollys in Dublin and thus keep them off their throats for a little longer
  • Offer discreet financial support to the Bretonian War Chest via covert funding
  • Gathering intelligence on Rheinland troop movements on our trips
2. Pacify Rheinland by taking the following course of action:
  • Remaining militarily neutral (they should be glad as we have every reason to stike against Rheinland)
  • Continue to support their economy (Cobalt route to Ingolstadt)
  • Continue to support their ally Kusari (Silver route from O7 to Narita)
  • Continuing the arms support for Kusari (Small arms from New Berlin - Akita)
  • Keeping up the Niobium and Beryllium (mined in Cambridge or Taus) supply runs. We claim it's Bretonian ore.
3. Pacify the Hessians by taking the following course of action:
  • Grant access to Aland to improve their striking capacities and fasten their ship replacement
  • Gathering intel for them
  • Supplying them with goods that they need for their struggles
  • Rhetorics
  • Monetary support
It's tricky. But not impossible.

Jack Henderson

Having seen the situation become less and less profitable, we are faced with such conditions in having to choose.

In dealing with military:

Support for either will lead to us having to defend ourselves from the other. In that they may make the choice for us. Our profits from omega would be compromised, but in our assests we have more in Bretonia and the taus then in comparision to Friedstadt in Omega 7. Who's to say that the Rhienland military wont use Aland Shipyard for their own purposes. Bretonia has done nothing like that as of late and has almost always shown diplomatic resolves instead of force. I forsee that we may end up supporting Bretonia for those reasons even if we decide to stay neutral.

When it comes to supporting the Red Hessians I'm still borderline for it. Their actions have changed greatly in the recent months and have indeed become very agressive. Supporting them now may not be the wisest idea until they have changed as a whole.

Trying to find a peaceful solution is never a problem, its that this time we may not be able to do so.

With reguards,
C. Domrey

SUBJECT: Your request for opinions

Greetings my friend.

*You hear a warm kittenish female voice*

Since we have the Kusari and the Rheinlanders at both of our extends, which is Taus and Omegas,
and since as many operations of us are in Bretonia,
we would be f

formidable in trouble if we would choose any of the three sides.
I think our only chance is to stay neutral at all or poker for a seize fire.
So, in the name of the entire Sea Of Silence Battle Group as well as for my self I answer your questions with
* Military support for: Neither (remain neutral)
* Political support for the Red Hessian cause: No
* Attempt at brokering a ceasefire and diplomatic resolve of the conflict: Yes

Safe flights and kisses to you.

[font=Lucida Console][color=#FFFFCC]"This seems difficult.

"We're not exactly in Bretonia's good graces, here. They're fighting one, now two, wars, and we're taking ore right out from under their noses in Dublin and Tau-23 that could be going to BMM. Plus their conflict with the Mollys is practically a civil war as is. Do whatever is necessary to make them like us, but dont' lose our holdings in Rheinland.

"The Hessians? We owe them big time. Doesn't matter whether they are legit in their cause or not, they've bailed our asses out of so many different situations, we owe them and it's only right to support them openly, but we gotta do it in a way that doesn't piss off Rheinland too much, or else we lose three quarters of all of our ore operations - all we'd have left would be iridium in Kansas, which is running dry as is, and the gold route from Dublin to Liberty. The Mollys are making that hard, but if we don't keep the Hessians on our side, maybe they won't be there to help later. You can't deny that the Guild would be in a much worse spot today without them - we might not even have Freistadt, anymore.

"Rheinland is what all our economy depends on. How we can juggle this other diplomatic bull-
scheisse with not losing all of our money, not to mention the lives of our fellow Guildsmen and women is beyond me, but they're a big concern.

"In short, we need to support Bretonia somehow, or at least keep them off of our backs.
We need to openly support the Hessians, but in a way that doesn't make Rheinland angry - that'll be tricky.
And we need to make Rheinland think we're on their side, or at least convince them that we're necessary, somehow."

while i hold no love for the rheinlanders and especially the WRF open war with them sounds like a bad idea so openly allying with Bretonia isn't smart but I'd say support them unofficially. as far as the hessians go once more supporting them onofficially would be the way to go.
but all in all we should try to get the war over with.

so in short:
* Military support for: Bretonia unofficially
* Political support for the Red Hessian cause: Yes once more unofficially
* Attempt at brokering a ceasefire and diplomatic resolve of the conflict: Yes

1. The two sides fighting each other is of no help to no one. The Bretonians are on the short side of the stick though because they are in a long and exausting war with the KNF and would probably prefer not to have a second war on there flank. I don't have any hard contacts in the BAF, but i would venture a guess that there stockpiles are almost non-existant. The LN is trying to restock them, but they are fighting the RM as well and could lose a lot of there stockpiles too with the fighting. The GRN threat against the LN is no help either.

2. We can policially support them as in "We stand with them, nothing more" as in no military support and no financal help. If the RM try to push us into fighting the Hessians, i'd venture a guess that the IMG would not stand for it. It might result in a "we hate what you (the RM) did and we, the group, condone your actions"

3. The Hessians could benifit from a cease fire against the RM and like-wise. The Hessians could then rediect there forces used to fight the RM to the corsair fight and possible beat them back.

so in short:
* Military support for: Neutral (as long as possible)
* Political support for the Red Hessian cause: Yes (as long as no military help is requested from either side against the other)
* Attempt at brokering a ceasefire and diplomatic resolve of the conflict: Yes (could even work together against the corsairs if brokered right)

We had a big engagement in Tau 23, then in Tau 37, and then back to T23 again. I lost count of the explodions of Outcast and Brigand enemy ships, but my guncan caught some of the kills clearly.

Highlight: The Gallic +LE+ Brigands lost their flagship, the Valor class Gallic Battleship "Le Grande Guillotine" in Tau 23's asteroid fields after IMG, CR and EDGE closed in on it.

Some more vessels were destroyed. Guncam shots are here.

Another Brigand was hit by a Mortar and exploded instantly:

My Eagle was blown apart later near Java by hitting a floating mine at a bad moment. I am fine to join the celebration today in the evening. If you want to come, you are invited. Java, Old Skipper's Bar. Bring friends!

A tally thus far:
Military support:
Covert for Rheinland: II
Covert for Bretonia: II
Stay Neutral: IIIII

It comes as little surprise that the Guild is divided on this issue. As it stands, the call is to stay out of the fighting entirely.

Political support for the Hessians:
Overtly: II
Covertly: IIII
No: III

A reprisal from Rheinland in case of open support is feared by many. But the majority seems in favor of continued support for their cause through covert means.

Attempt to broker a ceasefire and ultimately a diplomatic solution:
Yes: IIIII I
No: II
Not specified: I

The majority seems to be in favor of making the attempt to end the fighting. With the conflict heated as is, the chances of successfully brokering a peaceful solution are slim, but we could ask our Gateway and ALG partners to monitor the situation in their respective nations. Once both sides wish for peace, opening a dialogue should be all it takes.

We shall start to make preparations based on the current trend. To all who responded thus far, thank you for your input. To all who have yet to put forward their opinion: There are a few more days left before time runs out, to make your own voice heared.
