SF Message Dump - Hyperwave22 - 12-27-2006

Operations Base 15-4, New York

Intelligence operatives on Trafalgar base identified a man buying artifacts at approximately 23:59. Intelligence operatives of SF in Trafalgar reported this man, highly dangerous, flying an unmarked titan, and placed a tracking device on his vessel. He was followed into Cambridge, where he met SFFG-Exeter who intercepted him, but escaped to Planet Cambridge. He met a contact on Cambridge which is believed the reason he was there. However, this contact was an intelligence operative, receiving the contraband, and disposing of it in a proper manner. However, by this time, he had no tracking device on his ship, as he had found it, and escaped the Cambridge system without incident.

Intelligence operatives have sighted this dangerous man lastly on Cadiz base, although we lost contact with them. We believe that they may have been discovered by the Corsairs, but cannot be certain. Further intelligence reports are to be postponed until more operatives can be planted in Cadiz.

Be sure that this message is destroyed after listening to it...

Nomads were confiscated from a Nomad ship in Omicron Delta. The captain of the ship was surprisingly cooperative, and gave the nomads away with no hostile action in either direction.

While patrolling Cambridge I received a secret communique from a contact on Cadiz base indicating a direct threat appeared to be headed for the Cambridge system.
Shortly thereafter I was joined by the frigate archangel. We then encountered an HF heavy bomber, who refused [by a total lack of response] to leave the system and after a final warning appeared to launch a volley of pulse fire at the archangel's shields. he was quickly dispatched by two volleys of fire from my bombers inferno (thanks admiral) and minirazor.

we were soon joined by the BS vessel DBoy, and two HF bombers, the steve.mcleod and detonator. Dboy advised me over private channels that he hf vessels were in Cambridge under his orders and requested that I not fire upon them. with the appearance of the liberty navy vessel Interceptor acting as a rear guard against Hellfire treachery, and chuckster just a quick jump away, this seemed to be a reasonable request.

When the phantom ship entered Cambridge he was ordered to leave, but insisted that he came to talk, not fight. He states that he wishes to speak to you, admiral, and claimed that he was looking to form an alliance. However, I personally believe this to be a probe in preparation of further action and and would advise increased vigilance of all ingress points to the system.

the Phantom vessel could not be engaged due to our inability to locate him, and after sparing verbally with dboy for several minutes, Darkstar left Cambridge for New London. True to their word, the HF vessels left the Cambridge system directly after the threat was relieved.

Understood with the HF and Phantom ships.

General update to faction reputations, removal of disbanded groups, addition of [LD.Inc] as unfriendly due to smuggling, ELF upgraded from Hostile to Unfriendly status for recent compliance with SF requests (any objections PM me).

Admiral, SFB-Beta2 and I have maintained a constant night watch of the Cambridge through Omega 49 systems for the past few nights and all is well, for now. I just wanted to keep you posted and let you know that starting Saturday, I will be on leave for 10 days for medical reasons. (OOC: Going to Florida with my girl) I received second and third degree burns and a minor concussion from a recent accident involving the fight in the Unknown system last night. The Cambridge Hospital gave me some meds to get me through until Saturday so I will return to my post during the night.

Squeage out.

addedum:

corsair osirs battleship comanded by jose lupez entered cambridge and fired upon the HMS charles (or perhaps archangel, both LAF's). The Charles, Archangel, Interceptor, sfb beta2, and sff Squeage returned fire. The corsairs fight was brief. There were no survivors.

ooc: Sorry for Super's actions I've told him to stay out of Cambridge. Was the cruiser HFC Matador, in a lib cruiser? That's Super... The Corsair guy is him also.
Check the HF message dump, I've ordered HF to stay away.

OOC:

Also I'd like to add that Super kept threatening to ban someone because he said that he was rammed by their cap ship. This is untrue and actually the other way around, he ran into theirs. I don't know why he immediately accused them but I told him that I saw it happen and that he was lying. He retaliated by saying that he didn't and had cut his engines. I told him that even though he has cut his engines, his speed was maintained right into the other ship. I'm posting this in case he tries to accuse the other pilot and try to get him banned. Sorry if I typed too much.

To deal with the issue of how to handle traders belonging to hostile factions, I've decided an impound policy will be performed in Cambridge (seeing as how most other factions would likely shoot our traders if hostile, this seemed reasonable). Hostile or KOS trading vessels will be impounded by having their cruise engines disabled and permission to leave the system denied until either payment of a $5 million credit impound fee or destruction. Any cargo on-board is to be returned to Cambridge, ie. the impounded vessel is to leave Cambridge empty. Repeated impounds will have a KOS order issued instead. Vessels caught smuggling contraband such as Nomads, Cardamine, Artifacts, etc. will be treated similarly (with the exemption of first time offenses for freelancers and untagged vessels).
