Bretonian Armed Forces Defense Intelligence Staff (DIS) (iRP) (AO) - Athenian - 08-24-2009 To Whom It Concerns, Her Majesty Queen Carina, Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Admiralty, and Officers
It is with profoundest regret that we announce the tragic death of Lord Admiral Sir Roger Bertram Brinkley, One Hundred and Thirteenth Duke of Wellington, Earl of Wellesley and notorious violator of many a foul-mouthed Kusari dog. Sir Roger had been battling ill-health for quite some time, but in the end it was his penchant for undercooked steak-and-kidney pies that caused his demise. Rumours that he expired while attempting to perform a lewd and unnatural act upon a donkey are, of course, entirely unfounded. He was a most moral and upright man, and those photos are definitely fake. Sir Roger's remaining family have requested a private funeral, so the full military honours will not be necessary. This has nothing to do with the rumours that Sir Roger's corpse has in fact become fixed in a state of rigor mortis in mid-copulation with a farmyard animal that perished of shock and that this is why the funeral will require <strike>a large crate </strike> a closed cask. Sir Reginald Meadows, Assistant to the late Lord Admiral Bretonian Armed Forces Defense Intelligence Staff (DIS) (iRP) (AO) - pbrione - 08-25-2009 [Incoming Transmission] [To: Public Channel] [Source: HMS Pendragon] [CommID: Fleet Admiral Nelson] As a longstanding collegue of the late-Lord Admiral Sir Roger Brinkley it is with great sadness that I learn of his tragic demise this day. I think it is fitting that the Bretonian Armed Forces pay tribute to someone who was, truly, an exceptional officer and soldier and a fine example of Bretonian fighting spirit. Being denied the opportunity of a military funeral, I beleive that a brief memorial service would be fitting and have scheduled such for tomorrow above New London at 2300 hours. In recognition of his many and varied services to Bretonia, I wish to posthumously award Lord Admiral Brinkley with the Regimental Medal of Honour for Polite Conduct and the Star of Equal Opportunities Advancement, being the only 2 medals in the entire list of Armed Forces service awards which he had not already earned throughout his long and illustrious career. May he rest in peace. And may his brave and loyal life stand as an example to us all. In most things, at least.... Commodore Sir David Hoyle has been elevated to the rank of Admiral of the Grimsby Great Fleet and will assume Sir Roger Brinkley's vacant seat on the Admiralty Board forthwith. A Kusarian battleship, named Hitokiri, has somehow got very close to Leeds planet. He was staying out of Derby's range so he was quite safe, as Templar patrols couldnt do anything alone. I launched the Hammer, and called for reinforcements. I was contacted by Buccaneers. The pirate lot wanted to help, but they wanted money in return. Bloody greedy sods. Fortunately, Commander Ramey arrived with Fearless to aid me in the fight. We were discussing our strategies in forthcoming engagement, then we saw two Buccaneers chasing a lone Shire transport. I warned them to get their greedy hands off him, they turned around and the transport got into safety. Despite that, Ramey agreed on paying them, and they started attacking the Battleship. Using the Buccaneers to draw his attention, we started our engines and proceeded towards the Battleship to launch attack. Our strategy went well, we were receiving almost no damage at all, as the slow Hitokiri wasnt able to hit us well enough. One Buccaneer was hit by a battle razor, and other disengaged because of being useless in a little fighter. They didnt get paid in the end I believe. Who would pay bunch of pirates anyway. With help from [DSS] fighter, we managed to cause a lot of damage. Result was the Kusarian Captain ordering to turn around and run back to safety with excessive damage caused to his ship. ![]() We left him be, chasing him to Kusarian territory could be dangerous. May I ask, with all respect, who for gods sake ordered Derby to be stationed on the other side of the Leeds, instead of being near the end from the lane from Stokes or something? Please, move it. Even I, a Commander, can see better strategic potential in moving it. That should be all from me now Signed, Commander Jacob Carter ***End of transmission*** Closing channel... Bretonian Armed Forces Defense Intelligence Staff (DIS) (iRP) (AO) - Enko - 08-26-2009 [Incoming Live Transmission] [To: All Bretonian Armed Forces ships and Bretonian citiziens] [Source: HMS Kent, New London System] Captain Williams: “War stops for no man, so we are broadcasting this transmission for all those that cannot participate in the ceremony, be that on patrol protecting our boarders or at home with your family.” Communications Officer: “All comm traffic is now being recorded.” Admiral Redmond: “We come here today not for a simple funeral, not for yet another man fallen, but for a hero! A man so great, the enemy wet their pants at the mention of his name. Be it in space, or aboard a battleship. He was so much of a powerful figure, he put the fear in all, not just his enemies. Though disgraceful allegations of abuse were many, none may doubt his service to the Queen. I didn’t have much time to write more of a speech, so we will now have a minutes silence in his honour, followed by a gun salute.” The feed falls silent for just over 60 seconds, then the video feed is changed to an external camera showing the gun salute salvo. Admiral Redmond: “Alright Gentlemen, you are dismissed.” A whistle is heard as the crews of the ships are dismissed. [Transmission End] [Transmission stored in Neural Net] Afterwards the participating ships stayed in orbit for awhile talking about the fallen Admiral in casual talk. However, the war continues and the ships are called back to their regular duties. Both battleships are seen heading back to the Leeds front. I am happy to report both men show great potential and the instincts needed to serve her majesties armed forces. I expect to see great things from these two gentlemen in the future. 11:37 I came across a Firefly ship in leeds near the trade lane between the NL jump-gate and planet leeds. I identified his ship ID as one -Cronos-. He denied her majesties authority and the chase was on. I managed to get close enough to see if this was even worth the chase and got a scan off. [Target: Armed Forces Defense Intelligence Staff] [Comm ID: Austin Goodmen] [Subject: After Action Report] The day was rather calm and quiet, only had to deal with a few major threats. I'll start off with the non-combat report. Successfully escorted a number of transports to Tau-23, had no trouble from the Colonials, thankfully none of them were about looking for trouble. Upon returning to Bretonia I helped escort a Universal Convoy to the California gate, then returned. Captain Hobart, and myself then hunted down two Corsairs, we managed to lure their pirate transports into a trap, catching one of them. Both vessels had VIPs however we only managed to rescue 645. The other vessel got away. While in the process of rescuing these VIPs I hailed the nearby Universal Convoy, who came and picked up the rest. The rest of the day was quiet as I sat minding my own business in Leeds, with Lieutenant Williams, and Ensign Clark. Until of course I recieved a hail from a "John Evens" who was under attack by a Molly gunboat. Lieutenant Williams, Ensign Clark, and myself, under my orders, went to New London and found the chap I gave the gunboat captain a stern warning than the punishment that he deserved. Managing to take down his vessel. I would also like to make a report of insuborination, Lieutenant Ryan Williams has not been following orders to the letter, and has been screwing around when we need to be serious. Moving on. During the Graveyard shift I got into my Templar and headed directly to Cambridge, recieving multiple reports of Wilde vessels. Of course upon arrival I encountered the wilde vessels on my scanners fourteen clicks out from the New London -> Planet Cambridge tradelane. A lone Junker gunboat was about to head down that lane, but I cut it off and requested him to take an alternate route. After a small conversation the Junker took heed to my caution and went down the Cardiff lane. After a few more minutes of waiting for our birds to be in the air for support, and trying my best to ignore the headache, Lieutenant Moss arrived in a Hussar, he arrived just as the fighting started. However his vessel lasted a good twelve minutes before he was forced to eject. I continued the fight alone taking on the a Bomber and a Gunboat. After what felt like an hour, the Gunboat backed off and just watched as it's friend and myself fought. The fighting continued for what felt like a few more hours until I gained the upper hand, taking the Bomber out. I turned my sights onto the Gunboat to find it fleeing the area, much to my own amazement. After landing on Planet Cambridge to recieve a quick check over, and repairs to my ship, I recieved a report that the Wilde vessel disappeared completely from Cambridge. Taking it as a success I returned to the Suffolk. He personally joined the convoy with his destroyer, HMS-Steadfast. I arrived when the convoy was already preparing to launch. Lady Lafiel Tarrant from the Queen Carina's Government accompanied us to see the whole action. She had to be guarded carefully, as her Paladin wasnt equipped for the kind of environment we operated in. A few minutes before the convoy launched, we had to clean up the way of Molly thugs. Two gunboats and two Barghests were destroyed. We had some material losses aswell, but nothing that couldnt be quickly solved. Whole convoy, with HMS-Kent hauling the supplies, started making its way to Taus after that. Me and Lieutentant Ryan Williams were assigned point positions, acting as scouts for the main convoy. Central formation was the Kent, Captain Owen, Lady Tarrant and Lieutentant Rockwell. Steadfast and Lieutentant Kalo were last. We safely made our way trough Taus without any issues on the way. When we finally reached the site, fighters began slowly hauling the supplies in. I believe it was around 400 units of food rations, 200 units of H-fuel and 400 units of Light arms. Five scientists were transported to the station too. Next order was patrol in Orkney, to show our presence in this remote Bretonian system. We dont like to be accused of not caring for it aye? Again in the same formation, we jumped in. Unfortunately, soon after we entered the system, we had a major ion storm incoming, shutting down our systems for some time. After the storm, we started assembling our scattered force near IMG base named Dounby. (More precisely around the huge gas giant, but someone gave it very odd sounding name. And I cant remember the bloody name). Our escorts started activating their ship systems one after another, slowly appering on our scanners. Captain Owen had some major technical problems with his ship, probably due to the storm, and was forced to dock with the Kent. Lieutentant Commander Kalo was also missing. Then we noticed one bad news and one good news. Good was that Lieutentant Commander Goodmen was on his way to join the convoy. Bad news was that Colonial forces were assembling in Taus, obviously noticing the fleet and preparing to destroy it. We moved quickly to the construction site, where we were more or less safe. =CR= wing of Pytho bombers came close, but backed off when they saw the capital ships, Kent and Steadfast. Sir Nelson ordered our fighter wing to engage the bombers. Mainly to show our power and scare off some more that might be coming. I was leading the wing and ordered to open fire. The fight began. Enemy bomber wing did something unexpected though, they didnt fight the fighters back, instead, they turned on the capital ships near the site and started with nearly suicide attacks against the rest of our forces. Fortunately, there were some Outcasts nearby, which helped without hesitation. The Kent, with its newly revised equipment, managed to score a few nice hits on enemy craft, but more kept coming. Soon, we had a serious problem. Colonial Zephyr Carrier, the Nemesis, was approaching our destination, prepared to crush anything in its path. We proved that its decision to come was wrong. After combined fire from our ships, it went down. Thanks to Lieutentant Commander Goodmen, you can enjoy the explosion. ![]() Colonial forces kept coming. We were outnumbered but not giving up. I believe Lieutentant Rockwell was caught in ion storms again though, and thus was disabled until the end. Soon, second Zephyr, the Rubicon, was on its way. We knew that this is already too much for the Kent, and prepared for retreat. When the Rubicon arrived, Kent was trying to initiate jump trough the gate. God knows if there was some sort of malfunction, or the gate couldnt take both Kent and Lady Tarrant at the same time, but the Kent was stuck in there and soon disabled by a massive explosion. Steadfast was disabled just a few minutes after, and Lady tarrant followed. That left us with me, Goodmen, Williams and a few Outcasts. We were slowly working on the Rubicon, he couldnt manuever well enough in the asteroids. Tactical mistake. Luckily, Lieutentant Commander Kalo got control of his ship in Orkney again, and immediately proceeded to help us with his bomber. Also, Sir Nelson called more reinforcements from Bretonia. We managed to disable Rubicon. With additional help from various sources, we put most escorts out of action, or damaged them heavily, forcing them to flee. Great thanks goes to Outcasts, which throwed some gunships and Sabres in. Signed, Captain Owen Bretonian Armed Forces Defense Intelligence Staff (DIS) (iRP) (AO) - cshake - 09-10-2009 Incoming Transmission ...... Source Identified: Ensign Jay Clark Subject: Patrol Debrief Sirs, Patrol in Leeds today had some interesting parts. I came on duty outside the Derby and began patrol in the company of Ensign Jay Smith, Lieutenant Commander Jare Kalo, and Captain James Hobart. We kept track of the trade lanes surrounding Leeds, and found a liberty affiliated train trying to take Gold to the Kusari. This could not pass, so we redirected the ship to Fort Bush and Ensign Smith and myself graciously escorted him as far as Planet Curacao. Upon returning there was little of importance for a while until a Bowex transport lifted off from Leeds with the normal cargo, but including a single Nomad. My ship recorders were temporarily out un-cooperative and I have no official record of the cargo scan, but LtCdr Kalo handled the communications and may have a log. I believe the ship in question was Bowex)Bowex|02, but I may be mistaken on the number. Again, Kalo may have a full record. The transport informed us that his corporation has the appropriate license, so we bade him good travels. Upon further investigation by myself on the publicly available BPA neural net, I was unable to find an up to date listing of ships and corporations with the license. The only list found was out of date by a few months, and also did not include Bowex. Knowing that they are Bretonia's major transportation firm, hopefully any of my commanding officers reading this will know who to contact to get that sorted out. Not 10 minutes after that, we picked up an Order IFF vessel attempting to bypass the first ring in the lane to Edinburgh, so I gave chase after they ignored Smith's request to halt. The ship, with comm signature 'snoozer1000', was cruising to dock with the lane at the second ring. I was unable to get to the ring before him to disable it, but did manage to get a scan off before he docked. To my astonishment, he was carrying another Nomad! This time my ship's recorders were working and can provide footage from the camera: Ship carrying Nomad Brain Alas, something was still up on the scanners so the timestamp they provided is behind by 5 hours, I have sent it to get checked out once I came off duty. Bloody unreliable thing. After this we received notice that a MR pirate transport was pirating some traders in the system, but it was not along any of the BPA tradelanes, so we had to assume it was bothering Kusari ships near Stokes and decided to ignore it for the time being. Near the end of my rounds I received a distress call from Ensign Smith who was along the lane to Edinburgh. Kalo and Hobart had already finished their shifts, so I headed to help. I was very surprised to find a Corsair Pirate Transport with the com signature 'Argonauta' circling Smith, while Smith was letting loose a few shots in his direction. Upon asking the Argonauta what was going on, he replied that my colleague was attacking him unprovoked. Very much doubtful of this, I then heard from Smith that the Corsair had apparently tried to pirate him. Either way, with two BAF Templars staring him in the face, the Argonauta wisely decided to turn tail and run after I reminded him that he was very much unwelcome in this area. That is all for today's report, now there are a few pints with my name on them in the pub. Oy, almost forgot, yesterday I was summoned to escort Lady Tarrant home to Leeds from diplomatic matters on Manhattan, she was very polite the whole way back and luckily we didn't run into any trouble on the journey. Aside from the usual reports of corsair attacks in the southern systems, that was the only item of note yesterday. Signed, Jay Clark, Ensign .... Transmission ended, comm link closed |
