Katz gestured to the Warbot, that sprang to life, lifting the heavy machinegun as Katz stepped off to one side.

“That isn’t an answer, I don’t want general cliche. I expect answers to my questions. What is a communist, and why do you think you are one of us?”

Via drew back the heavy bolt of the weapon, the belt feeder spinning up as it readied to cut the offending putz in half in a hail of gunfire.

Ryan's eyes flicked to the machine for a brief moment, before how lowered his head slightly, taking a more casual stance...

"A Communist, is a Communist. A Communist is a person like you and I, a Communist fights for what is right. Commissar... I don't think I am a Communist, I want to -be- a Communist."

Ryan sighed heavily, looking back to the machine, a slight look of disappointment, but not of fear.

"Shoot me if you wish, but my intention to do what is right will remain the same..."

She gazes into the eyes of the former Corsair who has threatened her with death and takes a deep breath and says,"My resolve is solid. My will will not be broken. I do not cower before you. My will does not bend under your pressure. My spirit guides my will. My will guides my service. My service brought me here, guided by my integrity. I'm not frightened of conflict. I will die for the Revolution, here, or in service. Flip your switch."

Katz shook his head, almost sadly.

“A communist is a man united with his fellow man. United in suffering and in wealth, a man who has made a commitment to the wealth fare of all around him. Brother, sister, father and mother. This is the very definition of a Comrade, and something you needed to know before you came here.” Katz rolled his shoulders. “My instincts tell me you aren’t a spy… but I have my doubts that you are really committed to the cause. That… I fear… is crucial to any member of the Fighter Corps. A desire… a want to belong.”

Katz motioned as the Warbot slung its weapon, grabbing a hold of the applicant and roughly picking him up.

“Take him back to his ship, and put him on it… I don’t care if he gets a little… bruised along the way,” Katz returned to his paperwork. “I don’t like having my time wasted… if he struggles at all, use a shovel to scoop what’s left of him off of the floor and pour him into his ship.”

Via moved and clanked his way out of the office as Katz took a long, deep breath. Lack-luster effort, insanity, was this all that was left in Sirius? Where were the revolutionaries? The Titans of Communism that toppled the Alliance?

“NEXT!” he yelled, slamming his teacup down. He was in a foul mood.

There was a long pause, but no buzz. Instead, a gentle hiss as the interior door opened. "The withdrawal will kill you anyway. It will be far more painful than anything I could inflict, you Maltese trash." She shoved a bundle of papers into Vargas' hands. "Fill these out and return them. If they are not satisfactory, you will be killed." She turned on her heel and beckoned Vargas to follow her back to Katz's office.

Upon hearing the bark coming out of Katz's office, Evgeni Nabokov was stirred -- not out of immediate acknowledgment of his turn, but out of instinct. The brain regained control, and imbued a sense of hesitation -- one that took all of Nabokov's courage to ignore.

With erect posture and swift movements, Nabokov entered the Commander's room. A battle raged between the young man's nerves and his determination. The sight of blood never irked Nabokov, but the stains in the office served as a friendly reminder that the horrible robot would soon return.

With all the confidence the young man had left mustered, Nabokov stood at attention and studied the Commander's face.

"Evegeni Nabokov, Sir. I am here to enlist in the SCRA." The conviction surprised even Nabokov himself.

Katz was just leaving as Vicenta returned. "Right. Nabokov, is it? Where are you from? Who do you work for? Why do you want to join our ranks?"

Nabokov made the quick adjustment and tried his best to maintain some level of sanity.

"Ma'am, I am from Planet New Berlin. Born of my mother, Kasia, and a father whom I have never met."

He took a breath, as he gained a bit of confidence, having delivered the last bit without problem.

"I do not work for anyone. I was unable to find a job with any of the major or minor Rheinland corporations after my graduation from junior college. To earn my meals, I have worked with the Red Hessians in a small supply capacity, but have not made significant ties with them."

The sweat became just slightly visible as he felt that his responses were getting more complex, and likely, more confusing.

"I came here to join the SCRA because I have seen how man treats one another under the worst of circumstances ..." he paused. "I have never had it easy in Rheinland. They say my background is that of the ancient Coalition. They used to point and laugh at my non-Germanic features -- ostracize me when I was young."

He looked down.

"Now, I'm just shuffled aside. Barred from jobs, kept out of the working Rheinland. Or what's left of it. The name-calling may have stopped, but I am certainly not part of anywhere I know in Sirius. My mother always told me to forge ahead -- to make things better for myself and others. I take this to heart."

Looking back up, the first hint of determination was visible in his eyes.

"I now know that man in Sirius is not the helping, caring being he may have been -- now or ever. He is a greedy being, working for himself and unable to overcome the most frivolous of differences amongst himself.

"I only learned recently that the SCRA exists -- through the random speculations of a drunk Hessian. I resolved myself to find the Coalition. Not just to reconnect with the past I have been marginalized because of -- but to find a place in this lifetime to create change."

He took a deep, nervous breath.

"I am here to fight for my past. And for man's future."

Only now did he notice his stance had slouched slightly, and he snapped back to attention, studying Ms. Vicenta's reaction.

Commissars were doing excellent but they lacked a bit of old school torture. All this machinery was amusing but sometimes the simplest way to find out someones intentions is just to ask them. Luis stood up with a glass of vodka in one hand and a gun in the other.

"I remember Comrades of Commodore Thorvaldsson. He is currently swarmed with paperwork in High Command but in his days everything was much simpler." While he walked slowly towards Nabokov and Commissar Commander Vincenta he took a sip of his vodka and removed the safety pin from his gun.

" Do you feel this Comrade Nabokov" He asked him while pointing a gun to back of his head. "This cold feeling comrade and adrenaline that is now pumping through your veins is the life we live.

He smiled to Vincenta. "Now you are going to answer to me." He took his cigar out of his mouth and circled around to see the face of this new applicant. "Do you see this cigar comrade?" He asked him while slowly going with it towards his own eyelid. "Now watch how i will extinguish it."

Vincenta's face went pale, there was no smoke going out from the cigar anymore. "If i am crazy enough to do this to myself imagine what am i able to do to you". He pointed the gun now to applicants forehead and yelled. "ON YOUR KNEES and answer me this: Why are you here really?

As his knees met the floor, still sticky with blood, the young man's heartrate spiked. An odd sense of acceptance found its way quickly into Nabokov's mind.

"I am here to join the revolution. I am here to live for something. Die for something."

His words may have been brave, but he could not hide the subconscious shivering. After all, he very well could be speaking his last words.

"Sir, I am ready."
