RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Aazalot - 08-14-2013 Would walk in a few moments later after his name was stated, his good ear flicking away, the other bandaged. He stood in the door way having come direct from the local Medical centre, his arm in a cast and a patch over an eye. His tone was a little cold, but more, tired and weary, not to dissimilar to the good Doctor. His own revolver was in plain sight on his hip "My Ear is burning" he mutters as he nods his head to his CEO and to Doc those his tone was very direct "What i accomplished was the removal of the Martial Law being imposed, removing some of the corsairs eagle eyes. Make them feel in control. Gives those of us on the planet more breathing space without Corsair goons trying to enforce a curfew " The fox grunted going over to a cabinet and opening it up helping himself to whatever drink Duncan had in. RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Major_Mayhem - 08-15-2013 Inside CEO's office, dampened by the heavy door, a voice from outside could be heard. Then it went silent and the door to the CEO's office opened. Jason Kelly, COO, entered. He took his headset off his right ear, crushed it with his hand and threw it at his assistant. „get me a new one“ he hissed, ordering his subordinate out of the room. It was clear, that Director Kelly had been under a lot of pressure lately. His tie hung loosely around his neck and the usually seldom frown was by now constantly on his forehead. „Fellow Directors, dear Mr Holliday.“ he greeted the people in the room, looking unpatiently at Duncan to tell him why he summoned his directors RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Dourden4 - 08-15-2013 Duncan sat quietly as his directors entered his office. Voncloud seemed to know partially why he had been called, and jumped immediately to the point. Director Kelly entered soon thereafter, very obviously agitated and stressed. Duncan leaned forward and addressed everyone in the room. "Gentleman, I know you've both been very busy. Thank you for coming on such short notice. Mr. Voncloud, we will get to your business of late shortly, first I have some information to share with the both of you. I thought it would be prudent to include you two in this, given the gravity of the situation." Duncan paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "Earlier today, I had a meeting with a Corsair. He claimed to be an Elder, and to be the Diplomatic voice of the council. Whether that is true I have yet to determine. Regardless, the things he told me were disturbing at best. According to him, This latest war had little to do with the fall of the Artemis. That was just a cover to mask and legitimize their actions here. The real reason they came here was, as it always is with the Corsairs, was food. They wanted the food that Gran Canaria provides. He told me that they will not stop coming, will not stop trying to wrest this planet from us. So the question remains, What do we do with this information? Voncloud, while your actions thus far in ending the current conflict are admirable, we must realize that this is not the end. The Corsairs will be back, and one day we will not be able to stop them. So that leaves us with preparing, we need to be ready for that day." Duncan sighed before continuing. "I called you two here, my directors, because you are experts. My advisors in your given roles. Voncloud, as director of security, I will need your input concerning defensive abilities. Important points, capabilities, the whole work up. Kelly, you are the logistics wizard among us. I will need you to coordinate supplies, munitions and the like. We need to make sure we have the ability to survive should the Corsairs come in force. I realize that this is much to ask of you both, especially given the recent goings on. I would tend to believe that we have a bit of a reprieve, use it to collect your thoughts and rest a bit, then we may begin the task of increasing Gran Canaria's defenses. We can no longer rely on our neutrality alone to protect us and this world. We need to have options and alternatives to fall back should neutrality and diplomacy fail." RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Doc Holliday - 08-16-2013 Doc nodded to director Kelly before turning his attention first to Mr. Voncloud. "I wouldn't take such an interest in your actions but someone made a request of me for a reference on you," he explained, "someone who claimed that you are not qualified as a diplomat and the many anonymous claims of you wanting Zoners to disarm. He held his hand out towards the planet below, "Is not what you've seen of late enough to convince you that the intentions of the Corsairs are not honorable? We have shipped them food and much of it in the past. We have given their people safe and anonymous refuge for farming on this planet and this is how they respond?" Doc put his hands behind his back and made a slow walk to a position between Voncloud and Duncan where he looked out towards a window, "I have removed my robes of diplomacy with these......pirates so that my intentions are known." He patted his pistols at his front, "I have activated the shielding over my home and have put my staff on high alert. I've stopped short of ordering my wife and kids off the planet as she would rather die here than leave me." He then turned to Duncan, his eyes getting somewhat evil, "Yes, I would glass this planet to keep it from being taken and I do have the nukes at my disposal to do it but I don't think it will come to that. Resistance groups are forming. What Zoners are not in pilots they are on the ground. Are the Corsairs ready for guerilla warfare?" He again turned to Voncloud, "Here's a lesson in diplomacy Mr. Voncloud. TAZ has been ordered not to ship anything to the Corsairs and will protect themselves as needed. I've also ordered all of my medical facilities to stop treating these Corsairs. That is how I respond to the acts of terrorists against my people. Perhaps you should consider doing the same!" Feeling himself getting upset, Doc stepped back allowing his words to sink in. RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Aazalot - 08-16-2013 Voncloud was pouring himself some scotch into a tumbler as Director kelly came in. Turning around and leaning on the cabinet, he swirled the drink in its glass as Doc had his say. Taking a swig of his drink he looked at Doc coldly "I never said, i was a diplomat, i have spent a long time, dealing with Corsairs and their supposed 'Honour'. But i am not an Idiot either" The fox swirls the scotch in its glass as he continues "I made a deal with the Corsairs, that i would disarm the Populous in exchange for them lifting their idiot law, and removing ships from Orbit. This gives us a substantial amount more time to get ourselves in order. I agreed to disarm the populous, however it was never dictated what I do with the weapons afterwards. Currently they are being stored out of sight on nichols until such a time they can be given back out without the Corsairs knowing or having little time to act" He takes another swig of his drink "You are right, the robes of diplomacy have no part to play in this any more, you think OSI have done nothing? Its my ships, and my staff who have been safeguarding Canaria airspace as best they can, gone above and beyond their call of duty to try and keep what little control they could have over the Corsairs. OSI trade ships themselves, as Mr Kelly can attest have not been delivering to Crete any sort of supplies. So do not think for a moment that we have been stood idle by in this!" he growls a little but composes himself "My Deal with the Corsairs, is nothing more than a reprieve, a momentary break so we can get organised. Before hand they were in a position to stem any obvious attempts, now they are not. Now, Duncan..you ask about our defensive capabilities? They are in no way capable of defending against a full on Corsair attack on its own" Standing up straight he looks at the other 3 present "The fact is, we cannot do this alone, diplomacy and neutrality, as you have said, ISNT going to work here, but we have to call upon our allies and the other Zoner groups. They also cannot just hide under the banner of neutrality and ignore whats going on here" He looks at Doc specifically "It will effect us all no matter what, question is, who can we rely upon to bolster our defenses?" RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Major_Mayhem - 08-16-2013 After VonCloud had spoken, Kelly stood up and gave each of the three others a stern look. His gaze remained fixed at Holliday. “Since Direcor VonCloud didn't answer the issue about Food to Crete. I will.” He said in a tone more threathening than anything. “You're wrong Holliday. We cannot just stop delivering food to Crete. It's too grate of a risk. If OSI would stop delivering food to Crete the population of Crete will not see it as a result of their government’s actions. But turn hostile against OSI itself. There is massive propaganda going on throughout the Corsair Empire, which we” he pointed at both Duncan and VonCloud and then himself “cannot oppose. So direct diplomatic and economic sanctions against the Corsair Empire is like shooting ourself in the foot.” “Consequently, indirect diplomatic actions are the key. We've been dealing with the Red Hessians and have – until they outsourced their mining business – financed a significant amount of their operational budged.” “Since the Red Hessians are already at war with the Corsairs, and cannot allow - “Kelly stopped himself mid-sentence. He broke his gaze to Doc Holliday and turned to the CEO “Nevermind. Duncan, tell the Commies to give the Corsairs Hell within Omicron-49, immediately. With lot of the corsair fleet committed to battle in O-49 the defenses of Gamma will be on a bare minimum. That is why, we tell both the Outcast and the Hessians that they should stage an all-out attack on Gamma. They won't be able to conquer the planet, but orbital bombardment of Crete and attacks Tripoli Shipyard will force the Corsair fleet to retreat to Gamma and help defending the corsair home-system.” “We will then blame the Commies – who probably won't mind – telling the Outcast and Hessians about the opportunity to attack gamma. Lastly OSI will loan the Corsair empire money to rebuild their economy and negotiate some new treaties.” “Any comments?” RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Doc Holliday - 08-18-2013 "I, for one, have issue with supplying a people with sustenance who have repeatedly shot at, taxed and bullied the very people who work hard to produce that food," Doc sharply responded to both Voncloud and Kelly. Doc then gave a hmph, "Hell, I remember when your founder, Sam Nichols, began negotiations to supply the Corsairs with food. They STILL wanted him to pay tax while supplying them and shot up some ships. I wonder what Sam Nichols would say if he knew what's been going on?" "But," Doc began to explain to all present, holding his hands behind his back to present an open front, "I think we should focus on prevention. It seems the Sairs are backing off a bit. What will we do to counter this again? Maybe not in space but on the surface? I admit, we can't out pilot the Corsairs but we can give them hell on the planet and yes, it can be done. As Mr. Stowe stated, they will be back." He then turned to Voncloud, "And disarming the populace, even if you're hiding the weapons to fool the Sairs isn't a good idea. I know a good many Zoners who spend weeks on end exploring Canaria who are quite good at guerilla tactics. After all, it was those kinds of tactics that helped the American colonists to defeat the then strongest military force on old Earth to win it's independence in the Earth year 1783." RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Dourden4 - 08-19-2013 Duncan sat silently and listened as each present had their say. Then he leaned forward, placing his hands folded upon his desk. Sensing the rising tensions in the room, he spoke. "Gentleman, We have many issues to sort out. This whole situation has brought a situation to us that we as Zoners are not accustomed to handling. Not being able to rely on neutrality forces us to react based on personal ability and preference. Some will choose to fight, some will choose to hide, and still others will choose to cut themselves deals for better results. This will lead to much disarray among the populace if we do not reconcile the vast differences and keep the people united to a single goal." He turns to face Doc. "Doctor, I understand your feelings about the continued supplying of the Corsairs. At this junction, it is a needed evil to mask our true intentions. So long as we continue to supply them, they remain complacent with us and we avoid undue suspicion. As was demonstrated during the time of the Omicroners and that rogue Corsair group, any significant disruption in our deliveries drives the Empire into a frenzy. Should we cut off the deliveries, they would surely come to find out why. And I would bet they come with their guns primed and in no mood for pleasant conversation. For now, It serves us all best to continue the shipments and remain in their blind spot." Duncan then turns to face Director Voncloud. "Jerard, I think we can all agree that while valiant and brave, OSI security cannot hold Gran Canaria space for long against the Corsairs. Therefore I would agree with Doctor Holliday, we need to prepare on the ground. But I think our primary focus should not be on fighting a war, it should be on protecting the populace. We should defend them first, and push the Corsairs off the planet second. Given those as our objectives, We will need to undertake a few projects I think. We will need shelters from Orbital strikes as well as fortifications on important structures. I tend to agree with Doctor Holliday, man to man fighting is not likely to work. We need to use hit and run tactics as much as possible. Guerilla tactics will be key, so any who will fight should the need arise will need to be trained in the basics. The faster we can get these things done, the better." He then turns to Director Kelly. "Jason, While your plan holds merit and follows closely to the spirit of what needs to be done, I believe it to be too complicated for effective implementation. Any action we take at this point should be simple, and easy to conceal from any prying eyes. There are just too many ways that things could go wrong with so many people involved. So in place of that, we should instead focus on what we can do here. I would suggest that you lend your logistic mastery to coordinate the supplies that would be needed to build the defensive structures that need to be built, as well as seeing to it that all such structures have sufficient supplies for the occupants." Duncan's gaze moves from each person to the next in the room. "There is no mistaking it, gentleman. We face a situation unprecedented among the Zoner people. This will be a massive undertaking if we decide to go the route I have proposed. One which would need to be completed quickly, yet discreetly. But regardless of what we do, we need to do it now. We need to be ready when the Corsairs come back, and I fear there is little time till they do." RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Doc Holliday - 08-20-2013 Doc rubbed his chin for a moment in thought, nodding as Mr. Stow spoke. His message seemed to resonate while the message of Mr. Stow resonated with him as well. Doc seemed to cool off as he felt a bit better. "What you say makes sense, Mr. Stow," he said smoothly, still scratching his chin, "I guess I can have my people resume their trade as well, not that we did a lot there but...........it'll help the overall appearance as will continued Corsair treatment on my facilities." He looked to everyone, "Gentlemen, I think it's time, since we're all present, to make a concrete plan on how to be prepared for the next assault. Shelters are a great idea. I have on built for the refugee camp at Port Jackson and I have my labs and shield generators deep underground." He took a couple of steps, "What I wonder is how can we work together to maintain a good ground resistance. I know the Klingon colony of New Kronus like a good fight but for the Zoner populace, they'll need leadership on the ground. Should we have a sheriff or something like that? What about a security fleet outside the planet? I know many independent Zoners and small groups who would help that. TAZ could contribute. What we need is leadership on both the ground and in space, people who know tactics and to whom people will respect and follow. I think we have a lot to figure out in a very short time." RE: OSI Corporate Offices(InRP) - Dourden4 - 08-22-2013 Duncan sat scratching his chin lightly, waiting for either Kelly or Voncloud to speak. When they didn't, he leaned forward and addressed Doc. " Leadership will be a difficult topic to control. Unfortunately every Zoner thinks they are fit for command, most are not. Regardless, they will often do as they please regardless of a command structure. Whomever is the designated leader of these teams will definitely have their hands full." Duncan leaned back, tilting his head back to look up at the ceiling. His face reflected a man in deep thought, one who had a difficult thing to think about. After a moment of silence like this, he brought his head forward again and spoke. "Forgive me if I seem presumptuous, but by my reasoning I think that maybe you Doctor should assume the leadership role here on the ground. While we both may hold influence, you have much more experience than I. Add to the fact that you have lived here for many years, and it seems that you are the ideal candidate for the position. As for a security fleet outside the planet, I could have some of OSI security forces moved to Lanzarote. The Corsairs seemed to be ignoring it, and therefore it would make an excellent staging point for forays against any occupying fleets. Of course should it come to that, we would need all the help we could get, Taz, Phoenix, and whomever else is willing to show. I would also like to nominate Director Voncloud here as the leader of the space-born forces. He has much experience with his past as a mercenary, and would be able to coordinate the fleets well." Duncan smiles a bit. " I've heard rumors that the Corsairs have shifted much of their fleets toward Omega-5. I do not know what they are up too, but it gives a breather to prepare. A breather we desperately need." |
