RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - Vicho Deivis - 02-11-2014 Always is the option to steal from Mass Effect: Their creator make them simple, like the usual bip bip roll play, but with the capacity to make their own improvments. Then I could have a better opinion on it. Cheers, might a well go create a RP character for once. Best idea so far. RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - sindroms - 02-12-2014 Well, so I did. And I think after flying one for a day, I can say that I personally cannot do AI RP on the level I would like to on the server. For me it seems that the AI RP is going to be restricted to the forum due to technical limitations. It doesn't seem that it is a problem with the lore or the people I encountered but the way the character works. The thing about AI is about how their understanding of the world around them influences their behavior. In other words, the fun thing about the RP is showing the person how the AI would behave. So for the sake of example, imagine this. I was using a LSF IDed liberator with an AI IFF. I used only the AI IFF in order to give a hint to the player of what to expect from that character. Did not have any other AI tech on that thing for that matter. So what happened is that I met a secondary LN fleet guy in a guardian camping the Colo-Keplar gate. The guy asked me to stop and asked a simple question: who are you and what is your destination. Great.Simple enough. So how would an AI react to that, I wondered. Alright, let's see if I can RP this out properly. First of all, the AI would access its own databank on the person in question. Being an LSF ship, it would no doubt have extensive data on said pilot, his rank, training, special permissions and other. After that was done, it would access the realtime databank via neuralnet in order to get an compare a more recent entry about the pilot and whether or not something has changed since the last time the internal databanks were updated. When confirmed to be a legitimate secondary fleet pilot, the AI would then consider the question. Does the pilot in question have the necessary permissions to know of the current mission? Let's say they do not. Again, evaluate the mental state of the person before the AI. They do not have access to the information they want to get from the AI. Evaluate the potential danger of the ship in question and whether or not the AI might come under attack if it refuses. That would mean the difference from saying that the data is classified and it cannot answer, or just feed some selective disinformation. Choose answer based on that evaluation. See the problem? That paragraph of text above was spawned with a single line of ''Dafuq are you?''. How do I project that ingame without spamming paragraphs of text? If I do not show the idea behind the process, I might as well play a human being. AI roleplay is fun, because you try and explain human reactions and emotions via something that has none of those. If I cannot show in detail the gears clicking behind every answer, why bother? Short answer, AI RP as I see it would rather be meant for forum roleplay. RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - Zen_Mechanics - 02-12-2014 What are you talking about? The guy asked you a simple question, no one cares what types of metal you like or your "database". You are making it complicated for no real ale. The things you have said are meant to be said in a different situation. RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - Croft - 02-12-2014 Given your example why not just say "This is/I am (Name) of the LSF. You do not possess security clearance to access the information requested. Query Denied." or something along those lines. It sounds like you could be overthinking the problem or trying to convey too much in a basic reply. Think like a machine or a german engineer, be efficient and to the point. Then how would playing an AI have any gameplay and RP difference than playing a normal human? RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - Vicho Deivis - 02-12-2014 "Safety parameters near the danger zone... Not critical data required... We will comply." Nope bip... he have pew pew things, pew pew things hurts" "Scaning... ships signatures match with a Liberty Navy patroll ship. Running combat simulations... our combat platform is superior... analyzing possible short term consecuences... ALERT... hostile reaction detected. What did we do wrong?" RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - Arbitrator.Intelligence - 02-12-2014 I hope you expect me..... But seriously, don't expect every player from a group as open as AI to RP the same way. The 'Consensus' is nothing but. My personal RP starts in kappa, but is much more diverse than anything the 'Consensus' is capable of. And on another note, I don't see any other faction who has a indy member with a slightly different rp labled as 'malfunctioning' or 'infected with a virus'. Such as when I declared war on the <ZA>. At the time the 'Consensus' (and many others) cast me as some random malfunctioning toaster, and now they consider ZA an enemy as well. So who really had a virus? And I wont even get into these 'Sov're'. What should you expect? The universe punishes us for what we cannot imagine. RE: Artifical Intelligence - what do people expect? - Coin - 02-12-2014 Quote:The AI ID signifies the character an Artificial Intelligence. Most AI's descend from Planet Gammu, where environmental conditions caused human settlement to fail, leaving only sentient machines behind, who then continued to evolve. AI's are fully self-aware and autonomous, and not under Human or Nomad control. from wiki - not sure if still accurate. i want to set up an AI char based on npc story below. Essentially, i fly up to them, and ask them how did they get the ship, and did they do any missions. if yes, i tell them that they have been killing me over and over, and now it's my turn" (le pew commences). obviously, as I suck at pvp will be in character and flying like an npc would, they will make short work of me, whereupon I will be spamming the set-messages "my cockpit is cracking" "i have a flame out!" "I've got a coolant leak" "I need to bug out, I can't take much more damage" etc (suggestions gratefully received). |
