RE: Removing missiles and mines from NPC - Singularity - 04-19-2014

Won't decrementing the NPC spawn aid the lag decreasing effect ??

If yes, then what's wrong in making NPCs a bit stronger and then cutting out the numbers in which they respawn Smile ??

The problem with making NPC stronger is that snubcrafts will be at disadvantage due to lower shield regeneration rate compared to transports and bigger ships. And that is not fair. If you accidently leave your ship AFK for a minute, you might end up shot down even near Jump Gates, where majority of NPCs spawn. Again, there is Single Player and mission on server for PvE. The MULTIPLAYER part of the game is all about player-player interaction.

I think I also stressed on the "decrementing NPC spawn" part. So, when there's a cutoff on their spawning, how will they affect interaction ?? 1 patrol in the entire system round up won't cause a headache, will it ??

and ofcourse if someone wanted to do missions, then why would he want a buff in NPC stats !!

P.S. I even stressed it for a "slight" / "bit" change. Not like the one we had, when killing a NPC patrol was way too difficult.

Used to be....if there were less than something like 100 or 130 players, then NPC spawn would.increase. (I think if over 130 players, there aren't ANY npc spawns)

If I recall, we also did have stronger NPCs at the start of .87, and it was seen as unfavorable, particularly at spots like Java, where NPCs would just massacre folks. So, they got nerfed as a result.

I am against removing them both.

However the way that is now is not acceptable either. NPCs have unlimited bugged ammo, so they can spam missiles and mines all day long even if they have in inventory several shots of each.

As it seems they got unlimited supply of it and since they does not do any damage to players they act only as line cutter device.
This makes impossible to camp a line properly because there would always be friendly or hostile NPCs dropping mines at the unlawful or at each other that take the line down. When the line is down it gets bugged and traders fly over broken line leaving the pirate no chance to stop them.
Killing the NPCs is not a option they just re-spawn and in many cases they are friendly.

The killed line bug reduces the chance to actually rob someone at least with 70%. I tried to count and from around 15 encounters I was able to cut the line by myself 2 times and 3 times the NPCs got right timing. I lost 10 transports due to the said bug. I also tried different places both in Kusari and Liberty having the same result. The line is down 90% of the time due to the NPC constant minespam, even if they had 70 mines with this drop-rates in 3-4 min they should be off, however as it seems NPC ammo is limitless.

The simplest solution is to buff the line health and regeneration or to remove/limit the ammo of the said mines.

Reported looong time ago.
It is quite bad situation where you as unlawful need to kill your own npcs in order not to disrupt the line that you are camping.
I wont even mention that repetitive low level enemy NPCs spawns with unlimited ammo totally screw piracy as well. The repeated NPCs spawn was curable by killing them all but one and waiting for those that you left to go out of ammo. Now there is no fix, even single one would kill your line all the time, counting the ally NPCs that also kill the line all the time.. it as terrible and frustrating as the lag.

NPCs should be able to disrupt lines once or twice using their mines and missiles however the unlimited bugged spam of their mines at the line must stop.

How about buffing them so they would be a challenge? Buffing the missiles I mean, mines can go friendly fire.
