WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - Kuraine - 09-29-2008 It is likely the rules will be reviewed at some point, but right now a lot of the admins are rather busy. I personally would like to see the no-cruise rule modified or removed, but that's just my own personal opinion on the subject. We'll have to see what happens. Most of the rules could certainly do with straightening out. WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - Salvager - 09-30-2008 I would like that too. Since I bought my Liberty Cruiser, I realise everyone I've tried to fight can quite easily out-run me on thrust alone, and with the no-cruise rule there's nothing I can do to counter that. The battle moves off and I get left behind. WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - Othman - 09-30-2008 Cruisers are not produced to be used for chasing fighters or bombers. They either escort battleships, battle groups or defend key sectors. They act aggro only in need of self-defense. So as for the cruising rule for caps, it should stay the way it is in my opinion. Letting caps use cruise to catch up with non-caps will be unfair as a cap is not supposed to be used as a fighter. WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - Klaw117 - 09-30-2008 The current rules are fine in my opinion, but I want something clarified in them. If a Cruiser/Gunboat/Bomber/Fighter uses his thruster to run away say...4k away from a Battleship, or a Bomber/Fighter thrusts away from a capital ship, that ship should be considered fleeing. You can't use cruise to catch up, so there is no other way to kill them unless they are considered fleeing. I have seen countless scenes where an enemy thrusts away because a Battleship arrives and then says "I don't have to leave, I didn't use my cruise engines!" If you leave weapons range, you have fled the battle. Simple as that. WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - obnoxious1 - 09-30-2008 4 hour rule dropped down to 90 minutes (with exceptions for traders & smugglers of course) WHich rules would you want to see disappear? - Dopamino - 09-30-2008 I would like to have all of the profanity rules removed. It would make all of my RP so much better. Of course, I know it's never gonna happen and I'm fine with that. The rules say nothing about weapons range. In fact, the rules don't clarify at what distance you have officially fled the battle. The last "official" stance on it (admin statement, I believe it was either Del or Kuraine) mentioned 10k (beyond the selectable distance) as a suitable maximum distance for one ship to go apart from the other so it would be considered fleeing. What does need to change with the cruise rule is the leaving the system statement. If you flee the fight in cruise ... you shouldn't have to leave. Still cannot re-engage ... but you don't have to leave the system. ' Wrote:I would like to have all of the profanity rules removed. It would make all of my RP so much better. Speaking as a parent, only a terrible parent would let their kid go online and not expect that they would be subject to cursewords. /rant We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. I have absolutely no interest in fighting the same battles over and over again from the same character. Thirty minutes, one hour, that's way too fast when you consider some fights can last more than an hour. Switch characters or go do something else. Why is it that people feel they need to harass the same people over and over again? Its possible I was unclear or you did not understand. There is no need to harass the same folks over and over. That is just rude but sometimes it makes more RP sense. Like in the case of recon flights that are intercepted and break off only to return an hour later with back up. Maybe 30 minutes is a bit little. Maybe 2 hours then. I just think death should carry a greater penalty than retreat. Thus by writeing these consequences into rule form we encourage even the PVP minded to respond in a typical RP fashion to impending death. Not fool proof but better I think. No need to be distrested Gronath, I think this is a civil conversation. So, high emotion post have no place here. We are discussing and there is no right and wrong only comeing to a concensus. Therefore post an opinion. The more posted the more we have to work with. Even if you post its fine and dandy to you. Thank you everyone who has shared your thoughts so far. As for caps criuseing up to battle or to catch fighters, I'm of two thoughts. 1) To allow caps to criuse in battle nullifies the fighters superior close contact speed and manuverablity of thier thrust. 2) But the thrust of fighters and bombers and the circleing they can do effectively make them non targets and allowing a cap to criuse cannot nullify that. Also, what would this thrust be used for other than shield running. If your thrusting in a stright line and I thrust in a straight line then I cant catch you. Now if you criuse in a straight line and I do the same, then same story. However if you are thrusting away in a straight line long enough for it matter versus a caps thrust what else can be happening other than a shield run of sorts? There fore maybe removeal of the shield run scenario is a good thing too. I know many would bemoan lengthend combat time but, maybe combat should be a heavier responsiblity not lighly entered. If a caps chases you and you are genuinely trying to run then head for allied NPCs, asteriods, or a friendly battleship. Anyway just an idea tear it down or build it up it can only help us all. Admin is busy and thus perhaps if we supply answers along with or instead of complaints we can help them help us, make this a more enjoyable server. BTW kudos on those new text commands. I love them. I wish this was in writeing. This sounds fair to me. |
