The range is tiny, somebody could be following you for an hour without activating the noise and then cruise past for 3 seconds to take a scan. Not anymore. Transports now can stay cloaked only 16,6 minutes. RE: Espionage - Lythrilux - 02-13-2015 Maybe there should be a range difference depending on the ship? Maybe the sound and pitch of the beeping could also change depending on the ship? E.g, Transports make a louder beeping noise at wider ranges, snubs make a quieter beeping noise at shorter ranges? RE: Espionage - Zynth - 02-13-2015 Remove ability to scan ships while cloaked. RE: Espionage - Blodwyn O'Driscoll - 02-13-2015 What is the range of the sound that makes a cloaked ship, anyway ? While it is not just, I see no reason to prevent that. However, I'm more rather interested why these things are not sanctioned by local authorities, since espionage is forbidden in any house, as far as I recall. However, regarding this topic, it is like discussion over indie players ganking a small pirate fighter - with caps. It will happen, until we restrict something. Aaaand not to mention VARIOUS laws, because as far as I recall ALL FOUR HOUSES FORBIDS USAGE OF UNREGISTERED CLOAKS. Only Rheinland, Kusari and Gallia forbids cloaks to various degrees. Liberty and Bretonia allows free cloak usage. RE: Espionage - oZoneRanger - 02-13-2015 Legit if there has been some prior roleplay or background story on the forum or ingame for that ship. Like, how it got its cloaking device in the first place...If it is just someone who has the credits to set up a ship to hatch a plan that only he/she knows about... then, it sounds more like avoiding interaction to achive OORP goals. You're not avoiding interaction. You're following your role play. As for smugglers, the advice would be: Don't get caught with your pants down while hearing that beeping. RE: Espionage - Croft - 02-13-2015 That EVE patch still causing issues I see. There should ony be three groups who use cloaks, the Nomads, the Order and the Intelligence factions. Why? Because those are the factions who require stealth to move around, giving everyone the chance to fly about unseen was bound to be abused and to be honest I'm surprised it's taken this long to be noticed or is it because it effects a faction that has quite a few admins in that it's been brought to a head? Either way it's not a new problem. As for smuggling, I've always advocated that smugglers should be brought into the tradelanes to promote activity rather than flying undetected for an hour, it'd make for more fun and give police factions something to do if given the right tools. |
