Confused about cruising, fleeing and re-engaging - crocodile - 10-22-2008 Good day gentlemen, I know that you guys want to make this game as best as possible but it looks like that everybody wants to make a battle between a bomber and a cap-ship fairer. Well that looks like a nice dream to me. Reading your posts about engaging and reengaging etc. it gets your head spinning about logic behind that. Now I am going to kick some bomber pilot asses (nothing personal). How do you expect to have a fair chance flying a 6 mil bomber against a capital ship that costs eighteen to eighty times more (no equipment calculated)? Well, you dont. Its a plain and simple math here - you have to die. It makes no sense when someone tries to bend the rules in order to have a fair chance in killing a capital ship. Well, why dont you organize your buddies and deal with it in the old fashioned way a well coordinated attack with many tiny ships. Of course some of brave pilots will die while doing that. It has been always like this and it will be always like that. OR you may always work hard for a brand new juicy capital ship. I may be new on the forum, but I wasnt hatched yesterday. With all the respect to your hard work gentlemen, you are going the wrong way. Your rules are confusing and stretched all over the forum. Crocodile. Confused about cruising, fleeing and re-engaging - ScornStar - 10-29-2008 Balance is something that is on everyopnes mind when they mention one rule versus another or one ship versus another. The bottom life is you cannot have a realistic level of RP when you balance everything. Life is not balanced. Now I understand there should be some stat tweaking and before anyone says " well why not make the sky the limit on such and such". But the balanceing should be done in the stats. For example a bomber thrust faster than a gunboat or bigger. Fine. A bomber should not turn as fast as a VHF maybe equal to a SHF. However the criuse rule is totally arbitray as haveing a no leg shooting rule in Mech Warrior. In Mechwarrior haveing a "no leg shooting rule" allows folks to make unbalanced mech for a uber purpose. Here a "no criuse rule" only effects a bomber who would chose to forgo CDs and have a inferno AND a SNAC for the purpose of a unbalanced uber ship. The criuse charge effects all players equally. It makes all ships basically STOP and takes thier guns offline. If thier attacker is not able to get a CD on them in the 5 seconds it takes to charge (eternity in combat) then they deserve to get whatever tactical advantage they may gain. A capitol ship stands no chance of shield running against a CD equiped bomber as a bomber trying to shield run against a capitol that can criuse has no chance of success. As it stands now strike craft regularly pull 3k from my gun boat to shield run and return to battle. If I could criuse after them they would have to infact retreat or die faster. If I tried to shield run from a group of bombers the only chance I'd have for success is HOPE they went with uber weapons package and no auxilery tools. (Criuse Disrupters) The Criuse rule has been comeing up since I got here and probally long before. In fact it was one of the first three discussions I started in. Bottom line it only benefits Bombers with Inferno SNAC load outs and bring far too many arguements to the forums. If someone questions "what about increased strike craft manuverablity? If everyone can criuse whats the point?" The point is for ANYONE to enter criuse they must become a target. Everyone who enters criuse loses almost all manuverability and weapons. (Whats the problem) The only time this maybe problematic is when a blood thirsty bomber pilot with total cap crushing and no catching capability is trying to down a capitol before they take advantage of criuseing. In that they have enough armor to survive 5 seconds of fire while they criuse away from a ship with no catching missles. Yet all caps because they have no other choice carry CD are able to catch strike craft and explode them if they attempt it. So we have removed the ability of a cap to shield run from Bombers with full cap crushing in exchange for giveing bombers the ability to thrusting shield run since they can do what ever manuverablity is require in a 10k area. The criuse rule is more problems that help, you want to make combat spped up and be fair drop the rule all together. Dropping the rule does nothing but make more bomber pilots carry CDs or fly with someone who has them. No different than asking a Cap pilot to bring escort. |
