Should flying a cap require a guard ID? - dr lameos - 10-22-2008

I don't like guard reps at all personally. I don't think the guard rep for capship would prevent cap-whoring... just a vast increase of those with sanctions.

I don't like Guard-reps because they appear red to everone but that faction. As a lawful trader, i was friends with lawfuls and hostile with pirates. Therefore if red came onto my scanner at 14k i'd adjust my route. many of these, as i found out later were lawfuls with guard reps.

As a zoner trader, i was hostile with nomads, terrorists and guards... therefore when i saw red i thought ahh nomad or ahh terrorists and knowing that being destroyed is worse than being pirated i'd run in the opposite direction.

And no, I don't have a capship...

simply said : thats the downside of the guard reputations. - mind, its not clear yet if you need a guard tag - or just a guard ID.... .

my BHG for example has a maximum zoner guard rep - but a BHG guard ID and guard tag. - the rule says that "the tag must match the ID as close as possible" - and having a zoner tag and a zoner guard ID matches quite closely.... .

really - for those that doubt ... make a search for "guard" and check out older topics that asked for guard IDs to be required for capital ships - you find that many of the players here supported that view. - so i am a bit surprised why so many are against it suddenly..

No it doesn't, you can still RP creatively within the rules, otherwise to have RP you would have to have no rules.

What hurts RP more is sanctions for RPing, and that's what you get with ill defined ZOI, reported because someone disagrees with your interpritation of ZOI, and sanctioned if you aren't on the A list.

And to those ends it is better to let ZoI be defined on a looser basis. To define them definitely in the rules would kill creative RP. You, sir, have just proven my point.

EDIT: Also, next time, quote my entire paragraph. I made it a paragraph because it was a collection of like points, and taking one point out of context from the points that prove it might be contradictory to what you want to say.

EDIT 2: Can I be on the A list? It sounds like fun...

Myself and the rest of the Admin team would like to know if we could have a copy of the A-list. It's just we've gone and lost ours and it's confusing as to who we should sanction and who we should let run around the server doing as they please....

Am I one the A list? Cause I sure as hell have been sanctioned before. Akum, I think if you look at the people who you think are on your "A-list" actually have sanctions. We just dont spend the next six months after them complaining about it.

*Laughs* I ain't on it, hehehe.

However, so now GB can be either regular or Guard? As before, confused, for I thought all Caps had to have Guard.

Well, I, for one, must be on the A-list, as I have never been sanctioned.

But I agree that if a blindly stated ZoI chart is made, RP will be too limited. Some misunderstanding might happen otherwise, but I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Blood needs be spilled if RP is to prosper.

That said, I don't think we'll be cleaing up too many stains with this system.
