Welcome to Discovery.
Most of the stuff you need to know are already mentioned, and as others said, even though Disco might seem to have a steep learning curve at first (esp. if the newcomer is not familiar with RP and whatnot) you'll get the hang of things soon enough. Just one thing that most newcomers with backgrounds similar to yours are often confused about: Factions in Disco are not like clans in other communities, as they do not indicate the player's alignment, just the character's. You'll find majority of the players are in multiple (often opposing) factions, so the only thing you'll need to keep in mind when interacting with other groups on the server is that the "clan mentality" doesn't really exist here, and the tags on this server don't really mean the same thing as the clan tags you'd see in a non-RP community. Also, I'm sure you've already read the Server Rules but check out the Faction Rules as well if you haven't already - The points mentioned in that thread can easily prevent a good few "rookie mistakes" newer factions usually make.

Hopefully everyone has been enjoying our community involvement so far. I haven't heard of any issues yet, and I know Rivvion (our Space Engineers admin) has been building a sizeable trading fleet for the platinum industry.

I wouldn't recommend that lol they have quite a cash cow set up, and they've just bought a few high tier battleships for defense

I'm thoroughly unafraid of Battleships. I've killed 3 or 4 in my Percheron before.

Get cruiser instead of Battleship
Battleships weak vs skilled cruisers and bombers
However Skilled BS pilot can destroy cruisers
