RE: Defense Update

It has been a long time since I last spoke to you all and updated you on the state of our defences and I deeply apologize. The amount of work that was needed - from everyone involved - to bring this division up to par with those of most house corporations was immense, and only now are we starting to reap the fruits of this efforts.

I am now pleased to announce that the new IMG Battlecruiser Pathfinder is now fully outfitted and in service to defend the Tau sector. Having only the standard, light armour, the Pathfinder will be mainly used only as a deterrent against enemy raids, rather than a full-blown offensive unit. Having gone through the same production line as the Trailblazer, the Pathfinder is its sistership and will be the last of it's class to be assembled at South Sheilds Refinery.

This is because of the fact that we now have finished construction of our very first shipyard! Aland Shipyard, located in Omega 3, is now the sole manufacturer or assembler of all our capital class, mining and trade vesels. To celebrate it's start in operations, Aland shipwrights have constructed the Zephyr Carrier, the first battleship class vessel ever designed by the Independant Miners Guild. Named the Comoros, this ship is a prototype, sporting all the newest and most experimental technologies the IMG has to offer and thus, will not be used in combat situations until systems are fully tested and calibrated. The Comoros was completely constructed by Aland alone in a matter of weeks, whereas the Pathfinder, entering service merely days before it, has taken little over a year to be constructed by almost all IMG stations and asembled at South Sheilds - This shows just how efficient Aland is and why only fighter-class craft will be produced in our other bases in the future.

With the combined efforts of our defence and exploration forces, the IMG have been successfully able to repel and push much of the outcast activity in Tau 23 back to their home systems. For this, I sincerely thank all those members involved - even those that contributed in only a small part. Our success in the sector has skyrocketed the amount of people willing to join and mine for the IMG, boosting our economic standing to levels unforeseen in our predictions. However, this will bring much more attention to us from the Outcasts, with my advisers expecting redoubled attempts to attack our vessels in the upcoming weeks.

This is why I have ordered all stations (that have the facilities to do so) to begin the production of Arrow and Ravens Talon fighters, along with our first serial runs of Pythos bomber craft. New recruits shall be soon graduating from initial training to pilot these new vessels and meet the defence requirements now needed to maintain the security of our fellow members.

In the near future, I shall also be introducing new advancement requirements for all Defence members, as well as some much needed rank ammendments to those pilots conducting great service to the guild during this period of hardship. In order to stay with inflation and maintenance costs, new standardised escort rates will also be released, payable to the pilots by the traders and miners protected by them.

Things are looking up, but we are not out of the wormhole yet folks. Keep vigilant and attentitive and we shall all come out incredibly better off than when we had first entered.

This is Director of Defence Nickols Hargreaves, out.

RE: Trade Report

Having learned that one of our newest recruits, R.Fang, has gotten his Raven's Talon ready for service, I took this opportunity to show him the ropes of successful escorting. Mr. Destor Raven and Ian Davies also accompanied me for the day's shift.

Shift began on Falkland, where I picked up niobium. Colonial Remnant were present in the system and conducting a mining operation. An inquisitive Outcast was on patrol, but he stayed back from our overwhelming hostile forces.

Delivered the niobium to Planet Gran Canaria. No pirates encountered. Loaded the cargo hold with deuterium.

With a full escort wing at my side, I decided to risk a trickier route than the usual return to Falkland: I opted to unload the deuterium on Planet Nuremberg. This would take us through hostile and extremely dangerous systems in Omega 47 and 41, as well as Omicron Theta. Nonetheless, it would keep my escorts on their toes a little bit and make those slackers earn their pay!

Fortunately, we made it to Planet Nuremberg safely and uneventfully. I unloaded my cargo and will spend the next few hours planetside while my Atlas is undergoing minor repairs for radiation damage.

RE: Assaulted outside Java.

Message Begins:

Gentlemen. My Bowex Train, the Underbridge-AE, was assaulted outside of Java station, by the CR Gunboat, Iblis. I understand this is not your responsibility. What I'm lodging this complaint about is the IMG Miner ship, piloted by one David Sumney, who afterward accused me of smuggling...Oh. Right. The Iblis demanded I drop my shipment of nuclear devices, claiming I was shipping them to the outcasts, or, as he called them, cardi smokers (point: cardamine is inhaled, but not burnt, ergo, not smokes) if he had bothered to check my publicly available cargo manifests, he'd have seen they were bound for Macon Base, a sort of a rebellion in the system of Burgundy. I told him as much, and also to shove it, as I made for Java base, the closest safe port. Well, I assumed, based on certain treaties and rumors, that it was a safe base. Much to my surprise and discomfort, the miner mentioned above, Sumner, shifted to an intercept course and throttled up. He proceeded to instruct Java to lock its gates, and rammed me out of my course, in aid of the CR Gunboat that was currently pursuing me at 400 meters. Fortunately, more responsible heads on Java did indeed allow me to moor, and neither he nor the CR were willing to vent the station.

Having checked myself against your regulations, I understand that Mr. Sumney's actions were entirely unlawful. In addition to being in violation of the spirit of the recent treaty, if not the letter, I understand now that nuclear devices are not contraband. I was not smuggling, as I was accused of, and as such, had every right to the sanctuary of Java from colonial highwaymen. That Sumner would seek to obstruct me, especially in such a manner, so close to a base, considering the nature of my cargo...I am shocked and appalled at the behavior of a member of your organization.

Ma'am,

I apologise for the problems that have occured to you, and rest assured that I will make sure that nothing like this ever happens again.

You're transport was incorrectly attacked, and I will personally make sure all of our pilots realise this. The pilot in question was new to the job, and wasn't sure what he was doing, please forgive his ignorance in this instance.

I again personally apologise, and am glad that the people on Java station realised the error of the pilot's way's.

Syana.

RE: Ship change

This is Cameron Mitchell.
After my last fight with a Outcast with a bomber my Nyx was destroyed. So it took me some time to get to Tau-44 for new ship. But when I looked at the new Nyx I saw the IMG Bomber and took it for a test drive. It was amazing it was almost as agile as the Nyx, but it had a co-pilot seat. That brings me to what I realy called you for.
- It's 2 pilots bomber so I'll change my Comm ID from IMG|Cameron.Mitchell[D] to IMG|BlackRaven[D]
- I also found a skilled pilot at Java that was happy to take the co-pilot seat, his name is Mike Anderson.

This is all, Mitchell out...

RE: An odd sighting, mining upgrades

Whilst pootling around in the Barrier recently, I came across a rather odd...I guess you could call it a "feature". Here is an image I managed to capture of said object. Even at this distance, there was a rather disconcerting resonance emanating from the object.

I also came across the wreck of what appeared to be a Rogue or Molly-built freighter, from whose hold I was able to extract several unusual objects, which I handed over to our lab chappies on Java. The pilot seemed to be in a pretty bad way, and, not wanting to suffer a similar fate, I got myself out of there sharpish.

Strangest thing, as soon as I lost sight of it all, it simply vanished, both from my nav maps and my scanners. I highly doubt I would be able to find my way back, due to the disorientation caused by the resonance...and were it not for these strange objects I came across, one might think I had dreamed the whole episode! Most odd.

In other news, the recent upgrades in mining technology are coming along quite nicely, and have been distributed to most of the mining ships in our fleet, resulting in higher yields and more efficiency...which can only be a good thing, hmm? On which note, if anyone is lacking the aforementioned upgrades or is unsure in their usage, please contact either myself or a member of the ground crew for further details.

Goldwell out.

RE: Mining Ship

Greetings gentlemen,

It has taken a while, but I have managed, through mining, to raise the funds necessary to purchase my mining ship. The Camara, she's great an' all, but I feel like I need just a bit more, well tonnage. With my new mining craft, I hope to nearly double the niobium I'm pullin' in. There is however, one problem. I am not in possession of my mining ship yet. I'm currently at Holman, and I was hopin' one of you gents could point me in the direction of the nearest base that will sell me a mining ship.

Wilson out.
