But is it possible to dig out a dead faction like 101st with all the stuff that is attached to it and what happened in the past?

FR5's and whatnot.

Short answer: No.

We can go even way before.

Blue Lotus Syndicate

Or even make a new one.

Short answer: No.

While I like short answers, I would enjoy concise ones even more.

I wasn't here for it so this is about as concise as I can get: 101st was FR5'd for collaboration with enemies of Malta (thank Divine, apparently)
un-doing that probably won't happen because lol staff, and given just how long it's been since 101st has been a decent or respectable player-entity; leaving it that way may be for the best. No need to dig up old, rotted corpses that've already been dug up a bazillion times.

On the plus/extremely shameless-side, the Amalfi Directorate is Recruiting~
Whose down for some spying and espionaging?

I've been in need of active and passionate faction members to help fill out both my membership and supplementary leadership roles seeing as my current crop aren't all that alive currently. Come on in, we're friendly, I promise : )

Shameless advertising. Tsk tsk. Joking though. It is a good concept. I myself am in two intelligence factions already.

However, @Lanakov idea seems capable of a bigger and better head start due to the trading side of it.

Edit: And thanks for the concise answer.

Oh no it was completely shameless, I've no issue admitting that.
And actually spying isn't all we do- when he was still around, Spazzy had regular mining operations of 10+ people going in Omicron Beta for Cryo-Organisms, and I'll regularly trawl the Taus for piracy targets for funzies. It's a faction still trying to get off the ground and we're willing to expand into further concepts if people are willing to help make it a reality- problem thusfar has been finding people to do just that. If we were already a fully fleshed-out and active package of a faction, I'd have tossed up an officialdom application already. But it's not, and we're not, and thus I haven't.

And no problem~ Like I said, that fiasco happened during my 2-year mandatory bitter-vet hiatus so, my knowledge on the subject is limited to what I've been told by people like @Geoffacake who were there. Tis secondhand information and whatnot.

I do like Lanakov's idea of a slaver-focused Outcast faction, as well. The last truly interesting "villains you love to hate" slaver group-- Ah, really screwed up and made a very big mistake by referencing something unacceptable, even in RP, and was instantly nuked from orbit by the admins. It's too bad since they were good RP'ers, it's just that they decided to push Rule 1.1 too far.

But yes, slavers are typically your classic sort of villain that even other pirates may hate out of sheer principle. It may also be an opportunity to play off a seemingly-"good-guy" slaver in which the character may come off as an agreeable sort, it's just that-- Well, they happen to own slaves. Now, whether they happen to be willing or unwilling, that would be another thing to play with.

Food for thought!

I've said this before and I'll regularly say it again: In many ways, Outcast slavery is actually far better for the victim than the corporate slavery and crime-less imprisonment of the Houses down in places like Liberty Rheinland and Bretonia(something many people either forget exists or are unaware of.) Maltese slaves are usually granted adequate and fair living conditions, treated relatively fairly, and are guaranteed their freedom after a given time (amount of time is usually dependent on the family/faction). The forced cardamine exposure one is subjected to by simply being on Malta itself can be seen as either a negative by outsiders, or a plus as it would be by the Maltese, as Cardamine's many benefits are culturally viewed as a gift rather than a simple drug or poison to the Maltese.

Don't try to revive 101st, you might get sued by Divine. He will see you in court my dudes.
