RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Perfect Gentleman - 01-02-2025 Barrier, they basically wouldn't have gotten in trouble if they had think before their actions. I just won't write anything in future event reviews. I will just participate as I have free time. Any activity on the server is cool, no joke. Thanks to you, I was able to personally get three other people interested in all of this. If not five. The important thing is that our side has had its fun. Don't think you're guilty of anything. RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - R.P.Curator - 01-02-2025 Quote:People getting me nervous.Poor excuse to /1/2/3. Now, let me abandon the Discovery Integrate Matrix: + 3 Toxicity, -2 Logic, -3 Common Sense, +5 Crying on Discord. Lets do an objective analysis: - Devs have been working all year around to revive Disco: new ships, economy overhaul, balance, etc. - Holiday Season - fuck it, they deserve a break - organize a nice trade event, nothing big that requires even more work, give some $ rewards and a nice ID that is neutral to everyone (except Noms and Wild) - Get a short trade route with multiple paths that are longer but the c/min is 1K, as said above, lots of cash - Let the community handle itself (usual disco) - Results: People started trading like lunatics, event has hours when its off so people do sleep. - Lawfuls and unlawfuls started pewing - /1/2/3 or drop cargo or die. - People switched ships, cause why the fuck would you lose 1.1-1.5M$ to some guy who logs a bomber and stays and camps a gate. - Pews ensued - Who's the first to complain about it? One of the known lawfuls! Why? Cause traders don't RP! See my previous post about it. You're logging lawful, you don't take a bribe, however crafty I try to be and then complain all future encounters are either pews or "finger"? At least the guys with the scarabs want cargo, which is understandable. Bombers get blues. So, to sum it up: - You take an event thats supposed to be chill and relaxed for all, where the Lawfuls and Unlawfuls get no points and can only get credits / cargo and turn it into: Traders don't RP after I /1/2/3 or Drop cargo or die and then blame the community? The community acts and reacts to your actions. You come searching for a fight long enough, you're either getting one or being denied one. You should learn a thing or 12 about "RP" vs /1/2/3 Drop cargo or Die. Does this sum it up well? RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - R.P.Curator - 01-02-2025 (01-02-2025, 01:13 PM)Barrier Wrote: Let me clarify a common misconception I see in events. Just because someone is not on the config / cannot do the main gameplay loop does not mean they're not welcome to participate. The idea is that those people don't need more incentives to log and interact with the other players. And in some cases, I want to deliberately filter out people who do need the incentive to log, for various reasons. As a participant, with all the others here who opposed Gentlemans posts, we banded, switched ships, hired guns. We checked all of the alternatives. Cash was flying out left and right to people who were willing to shoot lawfuls for it. We, the Smugglers, have checked all the boxes you mention. The ones that started complaining is one "blue addict". Thank you for the event and the Smuggler ID reward - when will it have its text updated for the current IDs in game? And happy new year! Even if you're on the other calendar. RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Perfect Gentleman - 01-02-2025 That basically explains nothing. Okay, think what you want. It's your right, after all. I don't want to waste my time and make a drama out of nothing. And I don't think anyone else would want to do the same. So let's just chill out and go about our business before this gets out of hand. RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - A Magpie - 01-02-2025 (01-02-2025, 01:08 PM)Perfect Gentleman Wrote: I realized that it's better to play the “Drop the cargo or die” tactic. And I swear to God, it was a damn good decision. I mean, the others didn't even try to play it any other way. It's not like every interdictor looking to cargo pirate isn't incentivized to demand "die" no matter what ID the other gamer may be running anyway. Gamers also have eyes and access to stopwatches, and can do this thing called "observe the playerlist and move to where they can reasonably guess the target they've been tracking will go". If someone wants to force the interaction, they will, and all those alternate routes and typing words only postpone the encounter's inevitable "go to losing your cargo, go directly to losing your cargo, do not pass go, do not collect $200"; a smuggler, any smuggler caught in the open has already lost the encounter. Also, I will RP with anyone I come across, but if a specific shipname is a confirmed "demand die" or "drop all" with absolutely no room for negotiation, I'm just going to bug out because I know they're trying to "win" the encounter, and for them, "winning" is quite literally "the other gamer lost all his cargo (what a tragedy, he has to do ten minutes of backtracking, cry me a river)". Gamers treat losing that as though you're gutting your pets (or possibly razing their pobs, or griefing their Minecraft builds, or what have you) in front of them, for some odd reason. RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Eternal.Journey - 01-02-2025 Well I cannot say it wasn't enjoyable to take part in this event. Had alotta fun just knocking around as about as irrelevant an ID as Order hauling slog through House space. I can't complain. Got to experience some powerful ID lines (shoutout to the Freelancer that offered their services to go a-Stealin other's stuff, InRP writeup soonish I hope.) It's a nice change of pace from other events. Sure it was alotta powertrader hauling, but it is sure better than forced combat pews. I only had to kill one hauler, and one person that got in my way (i was also pretty much only capable of that but yknow.) Here's to more fun events in the future, and hopefully more of the interesting interactions too! RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Nika - 01-02-2025 (01-02-2025, 10:56 AM)IahimD Wrote: Question for lawfuls and Nika (who's sole purpose was/still is to deny smugglers) did you try to haul at least once to see why people act very protective with their cargo? It's because no matter what you fly, be it a 5ker, a 3.6ker, whatever, the money required to purchase a full load of Slog is not negligible. Therefore, having some lawful intercept and take your cargo then destroy what they cannot carry is... annoying to say the least. And you need to make 2 extra runs just to gain what you lost previously to some "low effort" snubs or scarab just harassing transports... But I guess it is inRP so nothing to argue against. But if you're taking the role of annoying people, at least don't complain about it when people do what they can to protect their investment. Especially seeing that the time restriction on the event is in the lawfuls' / pirates' advantage. I tried, and I know. I quickly found it unsatisfying, even in spite of Smuggler ID that I'd like to have on one of my characters. But if being "protective" means disregarding any sort of roleplay, planetdiving and doing whatever to lose all cargo instead of just half of it then these players are horrible at doing so and deserved every consequence that came their way, be it from me, lawfuls, Xeno or whoever else clamped down on them. All the loss they had they personally brought on themselves, and only have themselves to blame for it. Though I doubt it'll teach them the lesson of interacting with the pirate instead of ignoring their adversary. Edit: generally, I demanded half the trader cargo. Not even enough to fill my Scarab, even if I catch a 5ker. I was around for only three days of the event so rightfully, I can't be called an oppressive, annoying, or unfair presence. Yet people very rarely cared to find out. Some Gaian in a 3.6ker who just tried to waste my time and was jumping back and forth between Texas and California, eventually dying without saying a word. The order 5ker who preferred to dive into Chisos instead to deny me cargo instead of talking to me; I have bad news for you, by the way - your cargo survived. And there were probably many more I have not seen due to my absence. RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Vlad - 01-02-2025 I personally enjoyed the event with an Outcast ID trader even if I died couple of times with cargo. I always tried to make a RP with hostile players like navy, security force, police and pirates. I offered some reasonable amounts of credits just to let me leave with the cargo haha (many times even offered 1 mill). Some took it for their "retirment fund" in RP, some didn't and shoot, but overall it was a nice event RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Barrier - 01-04-2025 The results have been posted. The team will be looking at the Smuggler ID before any are given out, but people should be receiving them soon. I hope everyone enjoyed the event! RE: [Official Event] Loss Leaders - Brain_Scratch - 01-05-2025 Having in mind that after presenting unstable jump gates the freighters started to be more fun for me. I was wondering how I could achieve Smuggler ID while flying freighter? It’s obvious that 300k cap is impossible to achieve playing such ship equipped character. Please advice how to get it without using barge or 5k ? |
