' Wrote:I fail to see how it is an Exploit. Are we going to sanction every single trader that has logged in space than recontinues their route from wherever they may have been? I don't see it as an exploit, anything sanctionable, or any of the above. Nor is it metagaming.

Before anyone asks, no I'm not a wreck salvager, I've salvaged one in my life and that was for Skyblast B's or something of the sort.

no, resuming trade is not. however, sitting by a wreck to log in at restart to get codies is.

Wreck camping isnt bad generally. I did it in the past, to stuff a fighter. Not for farming and selling, but for my own usage. Ok, its a bit oorp, but setting up a new ship (especially rep fixing) includes some oorp situations.:$

i disagree 100%.

you can set yourself up 100% IRP.

Codenames are only updated at particular times, we all know when they have been since the server restarts. (Captain obvious, but bare with me)

The natural response to wanting something valuable that only appears at set times is to wait for it. A good proportion of players want Codenames and will likely rush down to their nearest wreck once the server comes back up. Logically, to beat competition you would leave a character waiting there.

There are a few things we should point out though. Among the various RP restrictions on players looting wrecks, you can only loot a particular wreck once per character, so it's not like you are going to see the same looter there each time the server goes down. Making new characters for this purpose is bound to be tiresome. Secondly, F1'ing in space is dangerous. The only time I have done this after looting a wreck (Had to put the laptop screen down rather quickly at the time), I logged back in to find myself back in the last station I had docked. People really should be trying to dock once they loot Codenames.

I've looted a lot of wrecks, though I'd much prefer to buy them from others, which saves me time and effort that I could use in other areas of the game.

You'd be suprised what people will do to metagame, and yes this IS metagaming: you are using your OORP knowledge of these wrecks to monopolize an IRP feature. 6 mill/gun is a nice profit for 40 seconds work making character and 1 minute effort getting the gun to a station and sending it to your main.;)

This is a rumour which has been around forever, but it is completely, utterly untrue. I have personally looted the same wreck multiple times with the same character.

back to square one! metagamers 1, RP 0.

' Wrote:No, that's a rule violation. I suggest you read Server Rules before you wind up on the Admins' desk.

I must admit my emotions may have temporarily overshadowed reason. I know the rules, although I am not a Space Lawyer as many of you appear to be.

And if you want to make a suggestion, try convincing these numbskulls that don't know how to RP to stop F1ing right in front of high value wrecks.

I have never been kicked from a server. But I would consider it a badge of honor to have some spineless OORPer turn me in after I blast their slimy, camping rear end. Some things are worth fighting for. Like RIGHT vs WRONG.

You may now return to your legal deliberations, "counsel".

I like you Lenny

Besides, these days I just don't think code's are worth it now with the buffing that faction guns got. Sure they look neat and have some cool firing effects, but they aren't all that.

The fact of the matter is, it is ooRP. How, one might ask?

Lets review the facts.

"Welcome to Discovery, please review... Dadada da da..."

The Starflea launches triumphantly from Erie! Tasting the first of his assuredly many breaths of filtered and re-filtered air!

He rides with the wind to Ontario, reviewing the newly colonized system! Surveying his surroundings, he notices a distortion on the horizon.

He flies like a bat out of bad places to investigate! Who knows how much these scientists might pay him? But lo! He is sucked into a deadly warp hole and is sent spiraling into unforgiving and unknown space!

... THAT is as far as you can get in RP. Lets continue for hypothetical reasons.

He decides for some reason its a nice idea to fly to F6, hoping to find a way around Ontario so the Navy chaps don't laugh at him for falling into a Jump Hole.

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles! Through all this 1000 cubic K, he found another warp hole! He fancies his way through and finds his surroundings changed once more!

Now his ship is getting rather cold and the sun isn't helping very much at this distance, so he'll get a little bit closer.

"Great Scott," he says, "What foul dot lay yonder on the solar plane?"
"O Beastie," he continues, "What wicked majicks hath thou wrought?"

*Pew pew!*

"Fiend! Taste my Justice!"

*tractors Cerberus*
*coughs...*
*disappears from space*

Flash! He looks around. He is now in a Navy bunk. Haha! Thats right! He is Captain James Merriweather of the LNS-Discovery! He ambles out towards the bridge, nodding giddily to his crew in passing.

"Captain on deck!" - heralds his approach and his bridge staff all snap a clean and rigid salute.

"At ease," he assures them, "What's the situation with Rheinland?"
He looked out the windows; Houston off to the starboard and aft and the Mississipi off to port.

"Sirrah," Lt. Queens responded, "Long range sensors detect no enemy movement."

"Lovely! Well, I'll be in the cafeteria-"
"Captain!" Lt. Jacks called, "Detecting solar anomoly. Our systems are scrambled."
"Brace for uncontrollable spinning," Captain Merriweather shouted.

Then blackness.

Twenty minutes later his vision returns, a blurry splotch of darkness overlaying the Medium Yellow star 15K distant.

*Pew pew!*
...

"Well," said the Captain, "That was certainly strange. Is everyone okay? Damage report!"

...
