That's true. That's, actually....I completely agree with that.

You know what, I've an idea. How about all 50 or so of us Zoners get together and absolutely waste the Keeper bases to dust? And no worries, we won't bother with a long RP story either. I mean, it's completely natural to retaliate against a big alien invasion.

' Wrote:How about you go in the actual game occasionaly? That attack on the Freeport which you talk about was with actual players, they just messed up and ran into every corner of the system only to be picked off one by one, leaving the freeport undefended.

Even right now, an attack is ongoing. It was a massive battle which is now reduced to a handfull of figthers.
So, constant battleship spam is in what way a justification for these egregious actions on the community as a whole?
I can't say I'm sure what you're trying to say...

You see, this is why events should be mentioned before they happen, so both sides have a chance to organize. I mean, lets say i gathered up all the council players and we all took our battleships and what not outside Nevers without telling any GRN and said "oh look, we took Nevers"

It seems pretty similar. And if it is not I would love to know how it is different.

Miscommunication - Zapp - 06-27-2009

This is rather ridiculous. I'm not sure if this is "fated" or not, only that Igiss has agreed to change the mod if/when anything happens. You guys want everything to not be elitist? Why don't we just spell out every RP plan, even those "secret" ones, and put them up for public review. Know how much would change then? Nothing. It's bra static mod due to the general partisan bickering that I've been witness to and, truth be told, I despise and try to avoid.

It's a gorramn game, can't we get along here instead of trying to "burn the elitists"?

Miscommunication - Ortog - 06-27-2009

if anything like that is deem to happen I will proceed to uninstall Fl from my pc and abort any effort I was making here, namely the Ronin.

I am sorry but I wouldn't endorse a take over like this and unethical procedures of so called elite players.

Private invite only factions are the Admin playground, prone to abuse and power play, I have been trough all that 5 years ago when the Ronin played freelancer first. There is no way in hell I am giving tacit permission to that kind of abuse again.

If these suspicions become more founded I will leave very fast as allowing this to happen is allowing a private "invitation only " group to rule the server.

we should actually run a petition to dissolve those "invitation only factions" .

Miscommunication - Jinx - 06-27-2009

there are serveral ways in and out of a situation...

when zapp posted his screenshot and report about a heavy attack on the FP. - my reply was of course "to investigate if its a fake" - which basicly means ( i will contact the poster and ask what RP he has in mind ) - and go into the game and ask players that are usually around or know the area what they have wittnessed.

yes - when i first saw the post, i was a bit afronted, cause i suspected some screen taken in the dead of the night claiming an attack when no one was even remotely around to defend ( that is - random attack for screenshots ) - and that is WHY i asked around

- how it happened
- what was behind it all

the explanation was satisfying - and i never had the feeling that any player involved was holding something back ( i asked zapp and got contacted by exile with more than enough information and feedback )

for that - i daresay that every other player could have made the same investigations.

so - for me, the first "shock" wore off quickly - and i got intrigued by what might happen - dramatic changes, RP that shapes the enviroment - RP gone global - i like it, yes.

and of course - it was quickly said that every faction involved MUST be informed and worked WITH. - but there s no rushing into things much. - there is not a plan to proceed with the events on a daily base. - personally, i was more concerned not to have 1000 defenders in delta each day.

not cause i feel too sorry for the nomads ( they can deal with it ) - but cause i think its disappointing for the 1000 defenders when nothign out of the ordinary happens.

but again - i wasn t informed about it from the start - but i asked around and got my answers. - had i not asked around - i would not have gotten my answers - easy as that.

edit:

its working together - which is the key. - it would have been easy to derail the attack as a fake, no matter what zapp wanted ( thats why it was important to PM him ) - what becomes TRUE is just a contest of who writes more convincinly and who is more popular - if you don t work together but against each other.

it would have been better to contact the involved playerfactions before - yes, no doubt. - but its not the end of the world when it was just not done. - and there are a lot of people interested in delta ... and a lot of people who feel to have a right to know about things.

Miscommunication - Derkylos - 06-27-2009

So, when we "naturally" took a fleet into Iota and, in the "natural course of things" bombarded all the Nomad bases there, it was just "unfortunate" that there were no Nomad players online to oppose us...

You don't see BAF assaulting and bombarding Kyushu (totally feasible, probably even get some response from Kusari...likely not enough to hold back the BAF spam, but that's "unfortunate", isn't it?...), at least not unless the factions got together and sorted it out...

No one else can alter the mod by player actions...

Miscommunication - dr lameos - 06-27-2009

The actual idea isn't bad, nor is the way it is being RP-d.

What is bad is that it wasn't discussed with any zoner beforehand. Jinx was told after the initial attack, and other than that, nobody. I wouldn't have minded if I wasn't told, some things are nice to be kept a surprise. But to not consult mal, who has been the 'leader' of the zoners (CoZ,SHIZL,TAZ) for a long time now is very poor form.

Furthermore, you had good opportunity to make this a 2-way event, especially now the Zoner response team has been formed. But as it is, it seems to have been designed and played out, ONLY by the keepers. The idea itself isn't the problem, it's the way it was played. Out of order.

Miscommunication - ophidian - 06-27-2009

Ermm, I am sincerely not willing to be a part of the flamethrower competition but just an objective side note:

The 3 keepers attack (the most had 11 ships) had over 60 opposing craft, half capitals half smaller craft.

So "no players to be there" sounds a bit... ermm... out of the picture.

Miscommunication - Caelum - 06-27-2009

And this, ladies and gentlemen, shows exactly why I left discovery the first time.

DRAAAAAAMMMMMAAAAA about a post originally just a heads-up about the Tundra, followed by flaming, followed by everyone going way off topic, resulting in more flaming.
Shame on the lot of yas.

Right, now that the rant is over with, time to get civilized perhaps?:P
