Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - X-Lancer - 07-02-2009 but this will leave Zoner a very small space to trade (only left with Omegas, Omicrons only..why not just not allow Zoner to dock on Capitals of houses..since houses's corporation mainly active only in house system)..then soon or later..every trading faction will have their trading ZoI, which means we will have to balance all the trade route all over again.. Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - Petersen - 07-02-2009 hmm although first i was very skeptical of this after reading other zoner players oppinion i have changed my mind. i support the proposal to restrict the zoner whale and the other big trtansports flown by zoners to the borderworlds and the stations proposed in the first post but keep all the freedom for the smaller borderworld transport with 3800 cargo. i think this would be fair since the small bwt isnt really a powertrader ship and should really be able to dock everywhere, i dont see a reason to hamper its freedom. as for the big whale, tanker and train the changes proposed might actually chase away some people to fly for other factions. Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 07-02-2009 Definately no, Restricts freedom too much, FAR too much, This is FREElancer right? ANd there are hardly any good CPH routes in the border worlds, witch will utterly kill zoner trading. Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - NonSequitor - 07-02-2009 I have one Zoner character in a Whale. I've had him since 4.84., albeit he was in an Adv. Transport back then. My trader has two house destinations. The other two destinations are deep in the Border worlds. The hub of my trading runs is a Freeport. The typical run I use is long and sometimes dangerous. Pirates are not a chronic problem. When I do get stopped, I sometimes cut a deal with them, if they're in a listening mood. I take a dim view of Zoners traversing Alaska and/or smuggling contraband anywhere. That's clearly powertrading and ID abuse. In my opinion. However, the idea of having too much freedom and making too much money strikes me as being odd from a Zoner perspective. I would think that finding routes with an optimal profit margin would be within role playing parameters. Especially for a faction that lives to trade. That said, a Zoner trader should have at least one Zoner base in his or her route. As someone wisely pointed out on a previous post in another topic, we may be dealing with pixelated currency, but we invest real time into this game. Personally, I don't want to have to spend ridiculous amounts of time trading to earn that pixelated currency. Yes, I rp a trader, but it's not an rp that I enjoy doing, to be brutally honest. I'd spend more time role playing on other characters. I think many players have a similar view - even those with a solid reputation on this server. That said, I don't understand why corporate traders should have to make substantially less. If anything, their profits should be on par with other legal traders throughout Sirius. But I do remember a lot of feedback concerning the retooling of trade routes in 4.85. The most vocal portion of the player base wanted more realism, more rp - whatever more rp means. Be careful for what you wish for... Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - ioha - 07-02-2009 Dab's proposed changes get a solid 'yes' from me. Why? Because it makes sense, and not only ooRP. These changes will affect the Zoner Guard only. This means the 'normal' Zoners can still get supplies and various commodities from within the Houses, as long as they use ships with 3,8k or less cargo. This is also why I don't really get the 'money argument'. If you want to earn credits, a 3k transport will serve you really well. And, whereas the Zoners are, of course, mainly traders, what distinguishes them from the corporations is that they actively seek the Border and Edge Worlds. They don't like being in the Houses, they just need to get some needed supplies. The Guards are, after all, a rare breed who, as the name indicates, in some way or another 'protect' their faction. A Zoner Guard transport supplying the remote bases in the Edge Worlds makes sense, the same ship roaming from NY to Leeds with Boron really doesn't. Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - n00bl3t - 07-02-2009 ' Wrote:I don't expect everyone to like these changes. ZTC and OSI have already stated this will hurt them, but they will adapt to it. However, don't feel that I'm trying to 'force' my view of the Zoners on anyone else by doing this. I'm taking the current roleplay established by in-game rumors and news items concerning the Zoners and using them to find a solution to our current problem. This goes far beyond the Zoners, it affects just about every other semi- to full-trading faction in the mod. Sometimes we must make sacrifices in order to make things better for others who were not so fortunate as to receive such a 'loose' restriction on its activities. What in-game rumours and news items? (Specific SS'd ones, because I would really like to know.) By making it Whale only you can simply say that everyone who does not fly a Whale is not a "true" Zoner, allowing other RP opportunities to develop instead of clamping down on Zoners with ID restrictions. My solution would be to ignore it. Any law-breaking Zoner gets caught and gets punished. If they are not caught, then the lawful factions need to be more active in that area. Zoners doing such illegal things promote activity, if anything. Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - Apex - 07-02-2009 Go for it wont affect my ZG ID'd vessel atall, atall primarily because thats all it trades to is one zoner base to another. And I have gotten tired of seeing some the other nonsense going on out there, if they dont like it send them to the region of Thud.. Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - Derkylos - 07-02-2009 Quote:Zoners are a diverse group of individuals who, for various reasons, have decided to live in the wild unregulated systems outside of colonial control. (Vanilla infocard, complete with grammatical mistakes...) Personally, I dislike any Zoners penetrating more than one system into house space in the direction of their nearest Freeport. NPCs never did it, none of the trade route rumors on Zoner bases mentioned runs to the houses, you could fly around Liberty as much as you liked and never see a Zoner ship, bar NPC or even rumors concerning them. Of course, now, we have "player/RP freedom" and "evolution" to worry about... Zoner/Zoner Guard IDs - Benjamin - 07-02-2009 For people complaining about the restriction aspect: Yeah it's a restriction. Because at the moment the ID has none, and therefore people who are just there to powertrade all use it. As derk says, zoners have no presence in house space. The entire point of the faction is that they aren't in house space. Don't forget that. They're not a trading faction, they're a faction of people who got sick of the houses and moved out. So having hordes of them running around in house space makes no sense. It's 'oorp' and more than that, it's boring for everybody else. Zoner's diplomatic status means that no house faction really has any significant relationship with them. There's not much opportunity for things to do. Especially true if you're pirating. Gaians want to meet planetform, unioners want to meet republican, lane hackers want to meet ageira. But they all just meet zoners and nothing else. They have no foundation here. They shouldn't even be pirating these guys really. So yeah, I feel like it's killing the game a little bit. Well.. if thats the problem you could make it so they cant dock on house controlled populated planets or can only dock on border stations but eh. Im mostly indiffrent to this. |
