Average pirate demand amount? Noticing a pattern here... - Baltar - 12-11-2009 ' Wrote:Rule 0.0? Well ... anti-pirate threads get me a bit uber-pissed. Every time some trader complains about what a pirate demands but thinks its ok to post high bounties on a pirate earns himself high demands from the pirate. Moral here ... if you don't want pirates to make huge demands ... don't be a wanker. If I ask you for 500k and you give me the 3rd degree ... don't be surprised if I take the 500k from what remains of your cargo after your ship is destroyed. And if you post a 50 mil bounty on me ... don't be surprised if I demand 2 mil or die. EDIT: And if you're a complete jerk (you know ... go all OOC on me) ... expect me to demand 100% of your cargo every time I see you. Average pirate demand amount? Noticing a pattern here... - Reacher - 12-11-2009 Usually if its some one from a random faction that has no real interaction with outcasts I let them go with dropping pirate pilots a couple pieces of ore or at max two million credits if I'm not in a good mood. Forcing me to chase you and waste CD's bumps up the price. But... let it be IMG, GMG, Corsair, Colonial or someone that's known to be a total bugger then its going to be a steep tax. Anything over 5 million for non ore cargo is a bit excessive. And taxing an empty transport is just down right mean unless your just trying to get some RP going. Though it still boggles me how a miner with 50+ million credits worth of ore will whine about a 10 million credit tax after making me waste 10 CD's. Greedy miners and lolcaps are one in the same 9/10 times. Average pirate demand amount? Noticing a pattern here... - DarthCloakedGuy - 12-11-2009 I've only been pirated for less than 10mil once. Whenever someone pirates me for cargo, they demand all of it. Average pirate demand amount? Noticing a pattern here... - Shush Muppet - 12-11-2009 An Outcast patrol once demanded 10 Mil from me, but that was because I was IMG and mining Niobium. Other than that one instance, if I saw a pirate coming towards me and I contacted him before he made a demand from me, and let him know that I had no intention of running, I was never pirated for more than 4 Mil. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As my pirate character, I didn't want to face the hate and anger that traders and miners would dish out to me, so I did things a little differently. I had them use the /dice command to see if I would demand cash or cargo, or if I wouldn't pirate them at all. Then I had them roll the dice again to determine the ammount I would take. For cash, I had them take the number they rolled and multiply it by 1 Mil. For Transport cargo, I had them multiply the number they rolled by 750. For Freighter cargo, I had them multiply the number rolled by 100. It wasn't perfect, but it did leave the ammount up to chance, so they weren't as testy about handing it over. Why is it I almost always get more (MUCH more) along the lines of 6-10m when I do encounter a pirate? Is it because I pass through liberty and near pirate homes a lot? I mean even though their RP could use work, the junker-pirate ID'ed guys out in the middle of nowhere make those 2milordais look so much better in comparison. And these guys don't rp either. Come up, start shootin, 'pay up' and you have approximally 3 seconds before they shoot again. If you mistype their insanely long name, too bad. So let me get this straight. The LOLWUTTER, is complaining about being LOLWUTTED by pirates. Forgive me if I laugh at the Irony of this, in all its glory. Average pirate demand amount? Noticing a pattern here... - ryoken - 12-11-2009 I had just last night, 1 pirate at colorado gate demend 3mil,when i just got the cargo for 98 000. Come on guy's, you really think someone will pay that 1 TL from where they got it? so i lost 98K,and the pirate lost well over that in BOT's/Bat's and ammo, not to mention repair's as i dropped his sheild's over a dozen time's,and he had almost no hull left when i went boom. So i load up again(diff cargo as i do not power trade) and goto Ontario>cali. At cali gate i get Your life is worth 5 mil right? Again my cargo was worth maybe 150K,and still close to pickup location,so again,I blast away, and cost him more then i lost. 10 min later i again load up with again a diff cargo, and no later then i undock, here is 4 "freelancers" outside planet, and i get "10mil,or we blow you to bits" (all green to navy fleet just 1K away). So i just turned around and docked (shaking my head) and went to one of my other 5 Char's to get some RP. So i would say Yes this is getting way out of hand. As of right now IMO 50-75% of the pirates around NY are new/To lazy to work for money,or just really dumb. Now this is not all pirate's. I have met many who are good, and here is a new trick some to learn...They scan me...wait it's coming... and ask for a reasonable amount based on cargo/ship and we have some RP fun. Also the 4-6 GB packs? Come on... what true pirate would do that. No profit, and pirate's do not like sharing. They use what is needed at a min,not over kill. Average pirate demand amount? Ever think that they may just be acting this way to get to their dream RP quicker? don't judge everyone because of a few, because I for one am a "greedy" miner but not because I want a capital ship. Also, why do people keep saying that miners are greedy? why should we share our wealth with other people. Miners have their characters to provide for (excluding me) and maybe, just maybe they want to RP a capital ship? If you don't want to, well that's fine, don't ruin it for others. When they buy their first cap it's a whole new learning curve, you must give them time to fit into it the new role and figure out the ins and outs of this new found responsibility. Give these people time! Sure their are some bad eggs out there, but please for the sake of people who mine and trade in order to achieve something other then total RP for that character, don't judge everyone by a select few. EDIT: it is my view that lolminers and lolpirates are as bad as each other. |
