Was thinking the same thing but why not keep the light gunboat model and use it as basis for a new merc/freelancer bomber? A bit smaller, shorther wings to the engiens etc.
Love the 2 models

I like the first model far (far) more than the second one.
Light and fast or thick and heavy, it doesn't matter much to me, but the gunboat shouldn't be much inferior to other, factionalized gunboats. People don't use bad ships, and if it's bad, people will just make excuses to use a different one. The Eagle is not an inferior fighter, and neither should this gunboat be an inferior gunboat.
However, I don't think it should have a forward gun. 7 turrets is good, but no forward gun.

I like first one more.. on 2nd one you could make those wings less wide.. shorter and closer to main body of ship.. its looks funny that way but its just me.

Why not try a "mix"
add mini "liberty siege gun"
UFO shaped (like Maruder)
And a mini OC dread engine (those flames would prob be awesome on a gunboat)
I still suck at modelling.. tried to gently make something in google scetchup, but untill i can make something myself i can only suggest, sorry.

no - its no orca replace, cause the orca was just revised by AoM for 4.85. - the orca model is of high quality with a very good skinning work and a good hitbox. - but it appears that the basic shape is still more appreciated than the one inspired by the "Starfury" from babylon 5

Better take the Orca for the Mercenaries and Freelancers. And the one Boss posted above could be used for a new BHG Gunboat. Actually, I dont even know why they have two, but this one would fit perfect.

How about a Renzu Corp Gunboat? They are a civilian line without a gunboat model.

afraid no - IND RPed to have aquired Renzu - so, i m not making a faction based ship....
the point of it is to make a factionLESS ship. - and since Renzu is now affilitated to IND, its not factionless anymore.
