death on the RP server - Lohingren - 09-24-2007 i would not call codies efficient far from it imo more than one on a ship is jus way to much energy being chewed up. in a long battle i find energy is key if im able to fire any of my weps at any given time its a fine setup, if i need to stall for 5 seconds to wait for my energy to recharge its a no no one of em has to go. That stall can be the diffrence of you keeping the opponents shield regen down and them getting theyre shields bak up to full and having a advantage ESPECIALLY during a multiple personnel fight. i find codenames to be good for a one off shot to take a decent mount of dmg away i dont see the point when i pass by a fighter strapped to the teeth with em i jus think to myself that is rather silly yet again just my opinion on em death on the RP server - Firebird - 09-24-2007 I think you'll find most people will oppose an idea where their weapons and such can be taken away after death. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if some group decides to gang up and go on a rampage through the server taking equipment from every single ship they encounter without any concern. Now one idea (albeit not sure if possible or desired)...currently respawn after death has you appear with all your weapons again at full health and intact, might it be possible to respawn them with only 1 hit point. This would mean a ship being destroyed would have to repair itself heavily to return into action, while the victor would be less damaged. This "solution" would not deal with the main issue though which is that once a weapon is blown off and you dock the weapon cannot be recovered, so...unless there's an option for solving that, this idea isn't admittedly much use.:( Added thought: Building from the previous idea, could equipment be made indestructible but instead inoperable when at 1 hit point? Cash drop is one idea, but not keen on the idea of the sudden appearance of cash (call it magic money) since some will use that as a means of obtaining funds. Player A keeps killing Player B and taking the magically appearing cash. We could make the amount low enough not to be of value but then that defeats the point. We could make it as a steal from the other person's cash, but how much? is that approach wanted? and what happens if the player doesn't have enough? death on the RP server - bluntpencil2001 - 09-24-2007 ' Wrote:I think you'll find most people will oppose an idea where their weapons and such can be taken away after death. This is a good idea. I approve. But the 'magic cash' wouldn't appear from nowhere. The victim would *lose* cash. I think a percentage of the victim's money, with a suitable ceiling would be good. death on the RP server - Unseelie - 09-24-2007 oooh...and your torp, and your sheild, and your thruster....and now, death costs someone at least 6 mill to repair. death on the RP server - Lohingren - 09-24-2007 but then again piracy would be in ways abolished there would be no need to say tax pls because you could jus run up kill em lets say the cash drop is 10% and a the trader has 100mil (which is probably the least you will see from a trader around here) and get 10mil HOH 8mil more than usual i think i like this more than taxing *rampages* after a while youl see pirates zooming into the next big 1 min money whoring event (another will be found when tau31 goes me thinks always does) saying Tax please and before the trader has a chance to open trade or say yes or no theyle be dead. and theres fek all they can say cos all it would take is for em to say I WAS GONNA PAY. pirate: i didnt see it before you died and i did ask. in my honest opinion twud encourage ppl to kill more than stick to rp dont get me wrong tis a fine idea but the percentage would really need to be very small, VERY small like 1% or 2% for it to not unbalance things to much EDITED* itl end up coming to the point if a pirate is making more by killing the person than when he gets tax there would be no incentive to tax (i personnally dont tax for the money but for the sheer thrill of the hunt) but its not what i can say for other people. im strolling around looking for my next victum and what ya know theres a pirate here asking for 15mil or you die thats jus to much. but if you gonna get lets say 20mil a KILL thats gonna screw things up. after a while youl find that IE corsairs and outcasts are more terrorists than the xenos are death on the RP server - Unseelie - 09-24-2007 dunno about ten mill....would prolly be closer to 20 average..... and, it would probably have to be taken from net worth..... death on the RP server - bluntpencil2001 - 09-25-2007 ' Wrote:but then again piracy would be in ways abolished there would be no need to say tax pls because you could jus run up kill em lets say the cash drop is 10% and a the trader has 100mil (which is probably the least you will see from a trader around here) and get 10mil HOH 8mil more than usual i think i like this more than taxing *rampages* Or 10% with a one million ceiling. death on the RP server - Lohingren - 09-25-2007 @ yeh 1mil ceiling would work if it is possible death on the RP server - Virus - 09-25-2007 I don't think FL Hook works by percentages. Its a set amount, and if they don't have enough, then they give up all their money. death on the RP server - alance - 09-25-2007 I'm strongly against any idea that ends up making players farm-able in PvP. That's one of the biggest factors that causes games to become unbearable for the more casual gamer. The L33T types start blazing away at everything that moves just to harvest whatever drops. |
