Into the Abyss - mtjsmith - 09-13-2011 ![]() "Why don't you go up there and go "Scope goes in, bullet goes out, zombie goes bam", and I go all sneaky sneaky and go behind said zombie and go KABOOM, with the shotgun?" He used his fingers to demonstrate. "So I go here, BAM, you go up there ZOOOOOOOOM BAM, then we move up... BAM.. ZOOOOOM BAM.. That'd be sooo cool. We'd have to tell the Commandant... And like be Hero's of the Coalition... Once we like, you know, totally unplug the damn computer.." He set off towards the cheeseburger logo on the map. "Wait did I say that was a good or a bad place again?" Into the Abyss - arvg - 09-13-2011 ![]() "It's a cheese burger, dude, what's the worst that can happen?" Into the Abyss - Jeremy Hunter - 09-13-2011 ![]() The Barricade slid in besides the International as Stormfall II rocketed down towards the surface. Forge finally stepped upon the Destroyer, moving quickly to the bridge. All over salutes were sent his way. He nodded back, rushing to to the bridge where he took his command chair. "You." He pointed to someone. "Do we have a secure link so TALOS isnt listening?" "Best as we can sir." Forge keyed the comm. "This is Major Forge on CPW International to Social Credit and TALOS Facility team, please key in immedietly and confirm status of your drop. This line is as secure as it can be; Don't stay on it long." Forge turned it off and glanced at the screen showing the trajectory of the TALOS Storms and Havana. "If TALOS is not stoped before the Storms get fifteen minutes from Havana, head there posthaste." -------------- The Stormfall II roared down, skimming low as Tori piled weapons into the Jeep. The plan was to move in by land once they made it. She glanced out the back. She then double-checked "Oh,shi-" Tori was about to race to the cockpit when the Storm lurched violently. She scrambled to her feet, heading for the Jeep. "We're too close you idiot! Break off, break-" An explosion was heard. Tori scrambled into the Jeepe as shrapnel roares through the hold, and Commandos, as the jeep was thrown out by a fireball. Tori smacked her head and went out cold as the Stormfall II became a shooting star that fell to the ground in a twisted wreck of metal and bodies. The Jeep smashed into the ground and rolled, making the unconcsious Tori more bruised and bloodied until it settled on its wheels and sat still. --------------- Onboard International, Forge cursed as Stormfall II disappeared from scanners. Into the Abyss - Dane Summers - 09-13-2011 ![]() Ketsu was crouching behind a cargo vehicle, peering up ever so slightly over the top to get a quick look at the black maw that was the blown out entrance of the large AgroProm complex. He saw nothing but shadows, and a few times his eyes flicked to movement but saw nothing. Something shifted in the darkness, and it was definitely movement. Ketsu jerked his rifle up and sighted down the iron ring, putting the blurry mass into the firing point. He was preparing to squeeze the trigger once it got closer, more clear... A sharp screeching feedback noise erupted from his earbud, as the voice of Major Forge asked for a check in. Ketsu fell back behind defilade, and ripped the ear bud out, putting it in a pocket, and then popping back up with the rifle. The shape he was sighted on was gone. "Damn..." he whispered. He put the earpiece back in, and whispered into the throat mic "Copy Major, this is Jr.Lt Ketsu, I'm at...somewhere 5 klicks south of a large town, and outside a complex marked 'AgroProm' - My situation is..." He stopped as he heard a thumping from one of the car hulks to his right - bringing the rifle up fast, he saw nothing that direction - waiting - nothing. No sound, no movement...nothing. "...My situation is-" Stars exploded in his eyes as something heavy came down on his already aching shoulder - Ketsu fell and rolled onto his back, looking into the face of some sub-humanoid...thing...beyond description in only a sliver of a second - it was holding the remains of some plumbing fixture as a makeshift club, and readying for another whack - this one to turn Ketsu's face into a smear on the pavement - The assault rifle's roar pierced the still air, and the large high velocity ball bearing cracking the sound barrier, echoed for miles - no doubt alerting everything with ears or sensors in every direction. The five round burst cut up the chest of the thing, and sprayed blood out the exit wounds - the body fell - and with it, came the sound of an uncountable number of throats, letting out noises of surprise, anger, and alert, from inside the large structure...the gunshots had given his position away. "...my situation is extremely hostile!" Into the Abyss - TheOrangeButterfly - 09-13-2011 Claus heard the line from the Major. "Claus. Confirmed drop." Johannes clicked off the radio again. Claus wondered what the hell was happening to the other recruits. The moments after he left the building, moving cover to cover, he began to hear something. Explosions? Yes. They weren't that far away. Perhaps five or six clicks. Probably the wreckage hitting the ground. It was then that he saw the remains of the Storm about to make landfall the hard way. He saw a small object fly out from the back of it. Some survived. Johannes next heard gunshots. Those were far closer than he had anticipated, although the drop was a failed attempt it seems as though one of his comrades managed to also make it to the ground alive. "Dammit." If he knew his comrade's position, so did whatever else was out there. He began jogging towards the gunshots, seeing several buildings along the way with shadowy figures within... unhumanly shadows. He heard a hard thud hit the ground as he approached the position. Then he saw Ketsu. Ketsu had fired on whatever the hell that thing was that was in front of him. More poured out of the building in front of his, easily 10 or 15 things. Johannes took a position behind a small barrel that was oddly left next to a building. He popped off a few rounds, trying to ensure that Ketsu would not be surrounded by the mutants. "Get the hell out of the open!" Johannes yelled, only forcing the mutants to turn to his position. Apparently getting shot didn't bug them, but his voice angered them. With an otherworldly, guttural sound, they heaved towards his position. He popped three off before glancing again to Ketsu. Into the Abyss - T.A.L.O.S. - 09-13-2011 ![]() Unknown to the Muppet Brigade they were being watched through the city's old Security Observation system used by the Commissariat in the old times to observe the citizenry of the city, many of the security cameras were offline, but every now and than they would pass through a sector that still had it's cameras working. It recorded every encounter they had as 'Battle Data' to analyze, attempting to locate weaknesses and produce successful strategies that would work within the confines of the TALOS Facility once they reached the first level. It started to close security doors in the surrounding areas, attempting to funnel the city's 'Inhabitants' towards them in an attempt to force the enemy to waste ammunition and reveal more of their capabilities. Let the Humans come...TALOS Awaited. "Hostile Forces approaching Facility, Engage Silent-Mode until +10 Seconds after initial arrival." Into the Abyss - mayu20 - 09-13-2011 ![]() Dasha stops as she heard Major Forge in her ear headphone requesting for a check in. "Dasha here. Drop was successful and I am heading to the facility. Dasha Out." After she closed the transmission moments after she heard a big explosion. The explosion wasn't that far. She only saw a fireball going to hit the ground. "Well, I guess that was our ride out." When she was ready to move again she heard gunshots. She turned around and started listening. The gunshots were coming from 1k away, she started to run to that location. "Damn, must be some of my comrades". When she arrived, Dasha saw Ketsu and Claus. They were somewhere down in a parking that looked like a AgroProm, and some things were coming fast to them. The things were outnumbered Ketsu and Claus by far. "Damn, they need some help, wait....crowd control." She then chuckles and put her Assault Riffle away removing her VLR-343 "BOMBER" from back. "Hei! Ktsu, Claus! Take some cover down there!" She armed the grenade launcher with a ZMT-343mm shell, a grenade with a 50m area of effect, devastating to the flesh burning it with ease at 1000 Celsius Degrees. Having the advantage of high ground she started to fire one by one the ZMT-343's to the crowd of the "zombies" burning them all remaining nothing more that some dust in the air. "Alrite comrades, is time to MOVE! This baby is doing a lot of noise so I bet more of those will be here in no time. Now MOVE!" She but back the "BOMBER" on her back and removed the Assault Rifle setting her mode to full automated with the safety off waiting for Claus and Ketsu to climb to her position. Into the Abyss - Dane Summers - 09-14-2011 ![]() Using the car hulk as cover, he'd been putting bursts into the mass of mutants boiling out of the structure like hornets. The bullets were doing nothing to thin them out, and they were pressing closer. The rifle clicked empty, and cursing, fell back behind the cover, grabbing the mag out and tossing it away. He was contemplating a grenade when he heard more gunfire erupt. "Get the hell out of the open!" Ketsu looked over, saw Claus, and gave a thumbs up - reloaded his magazine, and started sprinting to the left, where a smallish building was setup, and looked like a fleet garage. He got about halfway there, hearing the heavy footsteps behind him, when something let out a gurgling roar and grabbed him from behind. The loss of momentum took him off his feet, and both himself and the creature that had caught up and grabbed him, fell to the ground. Pain again shot out through his body like lightning, and whatever the thing was, it had grabbed his already hurt leg and was doing its best to tear it off him. Ketsu kicked at it, brought the rifle around, only to have it knocked away. The harsh sounds of metal grinding against pavement cascaded over Claus's gunfire, the creatures guttural mewling, and his own labored breath. He kicked it again, but nothing. It was right on top of him now, and he was barely holding it off - its mutated grey flesh was ashen, and its muscles were like steel. He got his knee's up under it, held his left arm braced under its kneck, to keep the teeth away from his face, jerked out his sidearm, and emptied all fifteen rounds into its stomach and chest. He was coated with thick blood, and drying ketchup, the stench mingled together and was sickening. He rolled the thing off him, and saw Dasha on a concrete dyke behind the battered down fences of the parking lot. She started yelling something, and then he saw the grenade launcher come out... Breath, breath, breath..."oh sh-..." He got up, ran towards her position, time slowing down, in line with his breath And then white hot light lit up behind him - a force like a hammer blow picked him up, and sent him careening into someones old family wagon, long since forgotten. The world went silent, and the roar was just a deafening silence. More pain. He was picking himself up, when strong hands helped him to his feet. Claus had him by his good arm, and was trying to say something to him, but there was no sound - just a constant high pitched ring in the depth of his ears. ''WHAT?!" He shouted, and couldnt make out what Claus said back, but by his mouth movements it sound like was also yelling "WHAT?!" at the top of his lungs. Ketsu smiled and laughed, and together they both made for the dyke that Dasha had claimed. Getting there, the ringing had subsided a bit, and Ketsu, still chuckling a bit... "Dasha-chan, you really know how to make an entrance..." Into the Abyss - Bjorn - 09-14-2011 There was blackness for a moment. Funny... last thing Leif remembered was being thrown out of a low flying ship. And some sort of glass shatter after that. But now his eyes felt as securely shut as airlock, and there was something wet and warm under his fingers... An puddle perhaps? But why so gooey... Other hand felt cold armaplast of assault rifle. Weapon he was given... for what? An task? "Oh! By the Grand Admiral's unshaved face!" - young man's thoughts raced, even if lips did not respond. He had to wake up. Something bad will happen to him. "Gah dad no! No beating I am up!" - his eyes shot open... well, one did. And it did quick survey. It all made sense now... Gooey puddle was blood. Funny... blood in old abandoned office.... That made no sense. His face throbbed, as he managed to prop himself onto elbows... his whole left arm and hand covered soaking in blood. He tried to shake off the pain, but shaking only made more blood flow from a nasty cut running down side of his head, and over his eye. "I gotta sort this out... Gah, concentrate damn it!" - with that he ignored pain for a second to survey his surroundings. He was in old administration like office. At least that made sense, doors seemed rickety, but closed, and he was alone in the room besides some rats that scurried away. Leif reached for his emergency medical supplies, pulling out an bandage and some strong liquor, using some to clean the wound, and rest to consolidate, as he bandaged his head. Checking his gun, and then the com link, dismay almost washed over him. Personal com unit was busted.. he fell onto it. "Well, it does explain that smaller cut on the ear." - with that he scooped out the room for any clues, and then hurried down the corridor, trying to see where he is and how to link up. Seemed safe enough for now... until he heard gunshots... followed by an explosion. Looking out trough half collapsed roof, he saw smoke rising and made cautious way forward, checking rooms on the way, for anything of use or importance. Into the Abyss - arvg - 09-14-2011 ![]() Jogging up the stairs of the derelict building wasn't easy, the floor boards were sturdy, but the concrete was cracked in places, threatening to crumble and take the whole staircase with it. Not something Allie particularly wanted. However Cruz had asked him to go up, and up he went. He'd thrown on his camouflage poncho, the nanite pattern shifting to match the surrounding area. It wasn't a perfect match, just a blending of the colours making it harder for him to be spotted, a chameleon effect. At least it meant he wouldn't be shot out of turn. The Volkhan had attempted to pacify JiangXi's 'survivors' with a short lived military campaign. It had been an unmitigated disaster, the small death squads had been slaughtered by the indigenous wildlife and mute, meaning that their equipment had fallen into the hands of the raiders and bandits. Instead of pacifying them, the Volkhan had armed them instead. JiangXi's inhabitants fell into one of three distinct categories: Scavengers, survivors who were trying to eke out a living on the shattered world outside of the New Hong Kong, L'Acadie, and Santiago enclaves. Scattered farms, poorly equipped, they were probably the least dangerous of the survivors. More territorial and retaining most of their higher mental functions, given time cancer would kill them off. Raiders, those survivors who were more aggressive, nomadic types. They'd formed into tribal packs, using whatever equipment they could salvage to move about the planet like locusts. Violent, usually heavilly armed with whatever they could find, they were cunning and smart. Rumours placed a large motocycle gang on the outskirts of New HangZhou on the Middle continent that numbered into the thousands. But up there, on the Northern Continent, there was little organization to that magnitude. Lastly were the Mutes, driven insane by the effects of the radiation eating away at their brains, they were little more than drooling animals. Forming roving packs, the Mutes were by far the most dangerous. Doctor XiaoBei's research team had performed several autopsies on the bodies of the Mutes, to determine the effects of the unique Phantom radiation on the human physiology. And had concluded that the brain damage had a nasty side effect of severing the pain receptors. Leaving a wild, bestial humanoid, that felt no pain what-so-ever. They were rotting away on the outside and inside, little more than walking zombies, though they were still very much alive, the only sure way to keep one down was to blow it's head off. And that was exactly what Alessandro was going to do. He patted his Rifle as he broke out onto the roof of the building. ![]() "Two to One, you read me down there Cruz-er?" He called into the TAC-link. "One to Two, sure do, s'up?" Cruz called back. Allie took a knee, lifting the rifle to his shoulder, and leaning into the ACOG scope, sweeping down over the street below. Nothing moved, beyond two year old washing, still on the line, mere rags now, stirring in the breeze. "Nuttin'," Allie replied. His radio crackled with static, a long burst, as across the city near the complex, anti-aircraft weaponry burst to life. "Oh... dude..." Allie murmured, looking up into the sky to where the uncloaked Storm was attempting a landing. "They're dead..." he said in shock. The weapons fire tore the Storm in half, sending debris to the ground below as it shuddered and convulsed in the air, detonations erupting along its length. Moments later it became a fireball, plummeting towards the ground. The Storm slammed into the ground, blowing its way through several smaller buildings off to the North, the secondary explosions blowing its Hfuel tanks skywards, as the ship died. Sweeping the horizon, Allie watched the jeep spinning end over end, crashing behind a collection of buildings. Shaking his head, he lowered the rifle. "One from Two," Allie called. "It's no good, they're dead, dude. Should we move on, or try to see if there are survivors?" |
