Back to the Green Hell - ChillerMiller - 11-19-2011 Reminded about her sister, Larissa was close to crying again, but was able to control herself. She looked at the ground for some time, thinking about her sister, there were too many situations in which Larissa did the wrong things which resulted with both of them starting to hate each other. It was childish from her and it took her too long to realize it. She looked up again. 'Vivien...do you know where she is at the moment ? It's been months since I saw her the last time and I'm sure you can understand that I have a lot of things to discuss with her.' She paused for a moment and thought about what Rall had said before. 'Liberty. Somehow I feel like going there was one of the biggest mistakes of my life, I realized that Rheinland is my home...my only home, there is nothing that will be able to replace it.' She stopped talking and scratched her head before she continued. 'Sitting here and looking sick is probably the best thing to do, going home to Baden Baden is not an option for me, as my parents probably won't accept me there anymore because of this story. Can you suggest me something ?' Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-19-2011 Although it was a question he should've expected, Rall was still caught off guard. He had no idea where Vivien was now that he thought about it. She hadn't been killed that much he knew, but whatever happened had taken place while he was 'indisposed' and he had yet to dig around on the subject. He decided he'd touch down on the lighter area first, and with a short sigh he did exactly that. 'I was kidding about the sick thing, then again accommodations here aren't exactly luxurious even for me, not that I mind. With that in mind'¦ you shouldn't be so quick to ask for chores, but I'll see what I can come up with. Personally I don't blame you for leaving no matter where it happened to be, even I hate it here. Just because I can't leave doesn't mean I have some against those who can, and take advantage of that.' He spoke deliberately with a Bretonian accent to get his point across; something he thought would be funny to pick up while he was away at one time. 'As for Vivien, I'm honestly not sure where she is right now, I haven't heard from her personally in quite some time. The best I could do at this point is offering to keep my ears open and see what happens. I doubt she would be at all too thrilled to find that her sister is in prison anyway, so it's best to wait.' Once he was finished, he stood up from his chair, but didn't move away from it, he was simply beginning to feel restless. Back to the Green Hell - ChillerMiller - 11-19-2011 'I see...could you please tell me as fast as possible once you've found out something ? Be it something about my sister or something what I could do, I'm getting sick when I think of waiting here.' 'And...' she suddenly stopped to talk and touched her head as it started to hurt again. 'Urgh, my head. I hope I don't have to meet your Vizeadmiral again, at least not when I'm defenseless like now.' Larissa imagined how another meeting with Higham would be like. It would surely involve a lot of arguments and would end bad for both of them. Was probably the best to avoid such a meeting. She sighed and lay back into the bed, she was tired and needed to rest. An uncertain future was in front of her and Larissa needed every break she could get. However, it seemed like a new beginning to her and she was curious how it would end for her. Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-20-2011 'She's really not that bad once you get to know her, once you get past the yelling, grumpy attitude, old way of thinking, sharp tongue, and bad sens'¦ nevermind. If you need something to do, you don't have to wait on me, you did leave here for a reason right? Think about what you can do to make this place worthy of being called 'home,' or whatever else you would like to think of it as. You're still young I know, so am I, but if you're really going to stay here even after this war ends, I should tell you this isn't the kind of problem that goes away by waiting. Probably sounds like a lot to ask from what many would consider to be a 'kid,' but the longer you stay here, you will see past a certain generation it starts with Higham and only gets worse. With that in mind who else can one ask? I'm not trying to make you stay or leave, or even influence your choice too much, I simple don't want you to think there is some kind of fairy tale ending for making the 'right' choice, because there isn't.' Back to the Green Hell - ChillerMiller - 11-20-2011 'What can I do to make Rheinland better...hmmmmmm, it surely would involve violence. Changes can't be achieved with words, many have tried, nobody succeeded with it. That would leave me to choose. There would be the Hessians and the Unioners, the only forces that can do something against the Military and with that they can make Rheinland a little bit better by removing the ones that destroy it from their high positions. But...so far they can't be considered as a real threat.' She smiled for a second while she looked at Rall, maybe it was time for something crazy, some sort of an experiment. 'That would leave...the Military itself. Heh, this might be stupid, but it would be the only possibility for me to change something. Trying to get as far as possible in the Military, to show persons like Higham what they are doing wrong. I wonder if that could actually work...' Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-20-2011 'It's true no one has succeeded with words when it comes to bringing change. No one has succeeded with violence either, that's why we're still fighting like everyone else. Unioners, Bundschuh, Military, it doesn't really matter what their external goals are. It's all about what the cliques and odd individual truly has in mind. I'm not speaking in terms of corruption, it's not always quite like that, some advocate for their people, and lose their way. It doesn't have to be about personal satisfaction, just splitting off from a group and causing some sort of internal conflict. Look at us in Rheinland, fighting amongst ourselves, then banding together when Liberty comes knocking. Self-serving or just a few people believing they deserve something, and can't or won't get it by throwing around petitions? Everyone wants to win, but no one wants to settle, it's the all or nothing mentality that puts us where we are today, and not just in Rheinland. Before you decide one thing doesn't work, think carefully about whether or not the alternative does, you'll often find if the question is present it doesn't. If one worked, why would people bother to consider trying a different way? With that said you and the Military'¦ Higham would probably pitch a fit, as would Meyer, wherever he is now. How do I know you won't get out and do something silly and land yourself in space rather than another hospital bed?' Gunther sat back down in his seat, looking Larissa directly in the eyes. He was simply testing her now, and had even told a white lie in the process. Higham would probably love nothing more than being able to order Larissa around to anywhere she pleased. Omega-11 patrols and 'convenient' adventures along the front lines of Rheinland's war with Liberty, a fate fit for a traitor, he knew that's how she would look at it. Back to the Green Hell - ChillerMiller - 11-21-2011 Larissa chuckled after hearing the question, even though it wasn't meant to be funny. 'Ach nein, didn't know you were worried about me. Well, one thing is sure, today I made a mistake in Bering and I usually learn from my mistakes. So I'm sure such a story won't happen again.' She looked at Rall and asked herself how such a young person managed to become an Admiral, however, she decided not ot ask him. It felt inappropriate in that moment, one day she would ask him. 'I'm not the best pilot, but I'm able to learn. And let's be honest, the Wraith is much better than the Guardian...a shame my baby got turned into scrap metal.' Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-22-2011 'I never said I was worried,' Rall corrected her jokingly. He took a deep breath, returning to being serious. 'I agree Bering was a mistake, but I think you knew better beforehand, so I wouldn't say you learned a lesson. The real problem is self control, the same thing could happen just as easily. Personally I don't have the time to watch you every right and wrong move. After the little scene that landed you here, no one is going to be in a hurry to do you any favors.' He paused again, beginning to pace around the room, sitting too long always made him restless. 'If you want to spend your time being looked down on by your peers, and fighting to earn their respect, when in the end you will simply lose it all again once they realize you won't conform to the common views of Rheinland's people. If you're looking for acknowledgement and respect go for it, if you're after change, don't expect the former immediately, maybe ever. Not to mention, before you even think about it, there's some paperwork and exams. You most likely need Ver-Higham's permission as well.' Gunther was looking at the ceiling as he switched between mumbling and talking, walking back and forth across the room. Back to the Green Hell - ChillerMiller - 11-22-2011 'No problem, Higham will like me, I'll promise you that, even though I am sure you won't care about it.' Larissa watched Rall walking around in the room, she didn't like that, it made her nervous. He was right, all her future efforts could be made void if she plays her role careless, but she was ready to accept the challenge. 'I'm ready for this. It's pretty much the only thing I can do for now, can't imagine doing something else. Exams, paperwork, hell I knew this would come, I remember doing them in Liberty and I remember my sister ranting about them. Ach, the 'kid' will manage all these things.' She then stayed silent like Rall and just continued to watch him walking around. 'What might he be thinking at the moment ?' were her thoughts while the room was filled with silence. Back to the Green Hell - Razr - 11-22-2011 Gunther continued to pace about the room, barely catching what Larissa was saying, it was apparent she thought this whole thing would work itself out a lot easier than it was really going to be easier than it really was. His youth wasn't too far behind him, so he could understand how she was missing the finer details, and was able to stay patient. There was still the matter of keeping her out of a cell, just because he made a report that was based off technicalities, that didn't mean everyone would just agree with it like nothing happened. There was no point in explaining this to Larissa right now; the best that would do is causing her to panic. He had to think of a way to convince Higham it would benefit her as well, and he knew that wouldn't be easy. She always seemed to enjoy making an argument of any idea he had. It didn't matter if it was sound or completely sound when it came to logic, she was simply never satisfied. He finally looked back at Larissa, wondering for a moment why she was staring at him like he was something foreign. He shrugged, deeming the pursuit as irrelevant and cleared his throat before speaking. 'It's probably about time you got some rest, you have a lot to do tomorrow,' it was apparently he was telling her rather than asking. |
