Missile ship - Adam_Spire - 03-09-2012 Just remember that a Gunboat missile do pretty much no damage at all. Mounting 3 missiles was great back in the day before turret steer, but now, they will just kill shields and energy. In a dogfight with a bomber, maybe a good idea. In a dogfight with four bombers, eh, not so good. I found that since 95% of the people joust, Missile attacks work, just don't fire when they are moving away from you. Bad news is, due to server lag, you could kill yourself when they player is 400m from you. Good news is, if the missiles hit, its a one hit wonder. It works perfectly...... in Single player mode. I'm going to make a missile boat and tell you how it goes. So missile Spatial in my eyes, maybe good against "big" Bombers, but nothing smaller or bigger! If you dont get the possibillity to joust the missile shooter in an direct fight and he slides around you, you wont be able to hit him with missiles. I myself experimented a lot with missiles, and they really work wonders on light fighters, 'cause most people fell into direkt jousting when they fight them. But for anything other, you have to learn how to use guns properly. ~Floyd Missile ship - hollowpoint - 03-09-2012 I have had a Stinger Missle boat for about 3 months and have found it to be effective one on one...but.. in a group fight.. you may as well be pissing in the wind. They just dont track... also i think player count influences thier ability to track their target accurately. I found that trying to get above the enemy while jousting and flying down at them is the best way to hit them. also the best thing to do against CD'rs is to fire a dummy weak missle first then once they CD fire the barrage! I took down your shields, the biggest damage was the SNAC, and its awesome for being able to take down a gunboat shield, even more with cruiser shields, just tested it against a Rheindland cruser. You actually hit several times, but all you were doing is the same common noob combo (pulse + razor), never ever seen a single turret shooting Spatial is great against everything when fitted with missiles, several tests say so. I would be able by sliding away, then jousting on him and launching all missiles, it EATS a fighter's hull. And as I said, I'M NOT USING GUNS ANYMORE, PERIOD! stop telling me to get guns I won't. I'm talking about the lag since I just PVP'd with an eagle but missiles simply wouldn't ever hit, they were standing still, but then I hit him once, he had 9/10 hull and went straight to half in one shot, could have been better... a LOT better:unsure: I'm still thinking wheter getting an arrow or a marauder for testing..... Missile ship - Jihadjoe - 03-10-2012 On a lag-free server, they work beautifully. During the corsair/outcast event that was held on the event server they resulted in things like this happening. However without the lag-free environment, missile ships tend to have a little more trouble. I doubt they'll do too well in larger fights, although full missile VHFs can still be effective. You'd just have to pick your fights fairly carefully. My suggestion would be mounting just enough hullbuster missiles to instakill a VHF, one paralyser, and then covering everything else with debs. The starkiller torp is also half-way useful. Shame the sunslayer isn't. |
