An Idea - Robert.Fitzgerald - 05-24-2008 I agree with Zeltak's point. Personally, I would like to see a pacific-time Admin, to help monitor the server for this time zone. I often see situations that could be sorted out by the admins, only to find they are still sleeping / at work. No idea on who to nominate though. An Idea - Ion - 05-25-2008 I like the idea of timezoned admins, but wether that is possible or not is really a decision for the current admin team. If needed, we can add it to the nomination form. An Idea - Leo - 05-26-2008 I'm in the states when I'm not deployed, -6 GMT. Currently I'm in +3 GMT. I'd be more than willing to step up to the plate, if even only as a forum admin for the time being while I'm deployed. I've posted my "resume" in the previous pages of this thread. ~SpAz An Idea - sovereign - 05-27-2008 *poof* An Idea - Ion - 05-28-2008 I'm not sure about self nomination, its very easy to get a friend to nominate you, and instantly gives us the idea that you have the confidence of at least one other person here. (not that those who have posted don't, but you hopefully know what I mean.) The whole process would be designed to avoid public flaming, arguing, and try and actually find the most appropriate person for the available job. An Idea - AdamantineFist - 05-28-2008 ' Wrote:1) I know nothing about programming stuff. I would have many of the same problems... my selections are bolded. I pretty much agree with lettign the community have more input into admin selection, though. We may run into some snags along the way, but those will have to be dealt with when we get to them. I don't think any of the "i give u sum creds if u vot for me" ones would pass, nor would the "I AM NEW BUT AWESOME GIVE ME ALL THE POWER" suggestions. On the whole, I believe that the majority of the community would act responsibly in this matter. An Idea - mjolnir - 05-28-2008 Actually seeing how angels are getting wasted left and right lately I think they should get admin shield at least. An Idea - kingvaillant - 05-28-2008 Good idea Puck, For the nomination to be valid (and to prevent person from Nominating their mates), The nominated member should be presented to the admin team two times (two different persons, who suggest him). This way we will prevent a large majority of abuse. It is also, IMO, not a good idea to say if you are going to be a soft admin or an harsh one. Because things might change once you get in the seat. However you could tell some RL exp about how you deal with people. Timezone should be something important and stated in the nomination PM, as well as the AGE of the candidate. We all know how we react to problems (in majority) when we are young, etc, etc. Y'all know what I'm talking about. An Idea - Dennis Jameson - 05-28-2008 Nominations never work... It all boils down to a popularity contest in the end, much like elections in real life. "Zomg, i want that guy! He's so nice!" - Says some noob who was given 3 mil at some point in time by said nice guy, thus establishing him as a "great" guy in that noobs eyes. Hell, if this was the case i'd nominate Starforge, who so graciously gav me money so that i could buy a slipstream way back when. Ugh... Maybe i'm overly negative, but that's just how i feel about the whole thing. *returns to the bowels of the bridge he crawled out from* |
