Hello, old friend.

I know that I haven't sent you quite as many as I should have, but then again I thought that you had earned the right to enjoy your last century of life as a man with no greater concern than that of how his plantation is faring... but alas, another storm is growing on the horizon and I feel that your experience in the field of battle, along your uncanny way of motivating the local riff-raff into doing things which are beyond their capabilities.

I am sure you have heard of Gallia, my old friend? I hope you have, for they pose a rather... unique threat, being closer to Malta than all of our enemies, but they also possess a fleet which makes the combined fleets of our enemies seem like a man swimming next to a Maltese spined devil-ray. It is this that we fight, and I while I do believe that our superior technology will be more than a match for these simians... I'd rather not take any chances, and that is why I am standing here at your doorstep.

I am offering you the position of Wing Commander, and the chance to once again inspire your brothers and sisters to greatness when faced with a seemingly impossible task...

... and besides, I'm sure that caring for Cardamine crops and dying in bed as an old man wasn't exactly what you had in mind anyway. *electronic chuckle*

Well, not much to report, as of now.

Things seemed relatively quiet during my morning patrols. Several stray Bounty Hunter patrols came about, but were pushed back by Valetta's defense array.

The one thing of note would be the arrival of a rather peculiar vessel by the name of "Darkness and Hope". The ship, which appeared to be a Zoner Jinkusu-class colony vessel, was emitting some form of odd, luminous energy. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a clear guncam shot - as such, I dont have any visual confirmation of the event.

Other than that, however, there was nothing of particular interest. I'll be heading out for a second patrol run post-haste.

Reporting on a rather interesting event, which occured approximately 1 hour ago.

It began with the encounter of two Spirits, one which seemed to be smaller, and one which appeared quite large. They seemed aggressive, and boxed in a Ranseur-class Dreadnought, known as "Perconte". The Spirits fired some sort of energy beam towards the capital ship, and the Perconte returned fire. After the vessel suffered a significant amount of damage, it docked back into Malta's drydocks, shielding itself.

The Spirits remained in far orbit, seemingly waiting for "Perconte" to return. After a few minutes, the dreadnought launched back into orbit, seemingly at a standoff with the larger Spirit. Several tense moments later, and the Spirits seemed to back off, moving away and behind the planet.

This is where it got rather confusing. As the Spirits departed, my scanners alerted me to the presence of an object in my cargo hold, which had not been there before. I landed quickly, and, after rushing back to inspect my hold, I found a small vial.

It has some kind of viscous, strange-colored liquid inside of it. After a preliminary scan, it seems to be similar to cardamine.

Any insight as to what it -is-, exactly, would be greatly appreciated.

That was...quite an event...

This transmission deals with the details of the most recent conflict between us, the SCRA, and Colonial/IMG forces.

It began when scouts of ours found out about a large enemy force coalescing at the IMG station known as "Java". We dispatched a force consisting of several 13th Squadron and Secondary Fleet pilots, to try and quell the threat. We underestimated our enemy, and, they failed.

Seeing the power of their growing forces, we sent as many pilots as possible into Tau-37 and Tau-23, in an attempt to choke their pathway to Malta. We fought valiantly, but, the Colonials managed to occupy enough of our forces to allow a large bomber force to break through. The remaining 13th Squadron pilots, as well as the secondary fleet pilots, could not disengage. As such, only the 101st pilots in the area could pull back. We scattered the bomber wing, and critically damaged one. However, before we could put a real dent in their forces, they managed to destroy a large part of our defensive forces. We pursued once they began retreating, but, it was of no use.

In retaliation, we decided to strike the remaining forces around Java. Using a force made up of almost every single remaining vessel we had flying, we stormed the position. Several of their fighters were destroyed, while a handful of others fled the area. We also managed to disable their gunboat forces. One simply fled, after taking heavy damage. The other, which was known as "Buddy", seemed to have a severe ion leak - targetting his vessel proved very difficult.

While his missiles proved effective - I took several direct hits - we soon managed to overpower him, using both a storm of fighter weaponry, and several critical strikes from my antimatter cannon.

We pulled out, afterward, although a few pilots stayed behind to cause further damage. Due to heavy damage to my Orchid's propulsion fans, I had to bring it in for a rough landing, on Malta.
