The future of mining? - Fletcher - 03-03-2011 I don't really mind what happens, just as long as the Mining is turned back on. The RP that occurs with mining can be hilarious, I got drunk one night with my Mining Ship and me shooting rocks and then taking the ship around the Hood Race Course.... well attempted with me screaming "WHY ARE THE STARS SPINNING!?!?". Greatest night EVER to be an independent miner. I'd like it back on, though some prices could use a tweak but a better solution to me would be more spread out fields. I think if you come up with good idea's for Cannon he will look into them. Right now all i see are mostly complaints, and whining. This is just proving the admins point. ' Wrote:Due to constant complaints about the player behaviour problems that mining causes, I've turned it off. I guess you can consider this a trial. If player behaviour gets better it will remain off. Well, you see, "player behavior caused by mining" is a bit too indefinite problem to offer alternative solution. Is it F1, OORP in chat, ooRP actions, or too many people in one system? Or something else? Cause, for example, F1&OORP would have a different solution compared to system overcrowding. Or maybe he's talking about those ridiculous "10millordie" pewpew hungry pirates? Its caused by mining too, technically. The future of mining? - Dieter Schprokets - 03-03-2011 Using the power of math, I can report that, at 323 votes: The Weighted Average Discovery Hive Mind Opinion is now to nerf mining prices by almost exactly 20% Exactly as I predicted. You are all transparent to me. I see and know all. The future of mining? - Shardphoenix - 03-03-2011 ' Wrote:It is sad. In 4.84 their was no mining add on. Pirate hunter.RTFM: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vigilante_ID The future of mining? - HuggieSunrise - 03-03-2011 I have a feeling this threads going to go on for about 5 or...eight more pages. I had a new idea but.. to rehash the points i made earlier. If theres a "new" idea i think folks are up with it. But cannon phrased the poll from the situation of player complaints. (discipline related) we we need a realistic mode of tackling that. Honestly if the issue IS new players hungry for credits and wanting cool ships (this is a phase) is the hinge of this issue. You cant skip the kiddies into graduate status.. We dont have an indoctrination device to zap em into rule abiding good sportsmanship types.. So.. Spread em out. i mean ive seen alot of interesting ideas here but it isnt dealing with the problem of -CONDUCT- ... Divide and spread em out as much as you can. That can stave it off.. But my psychic powers show that there will always be "flare ups" of single miners who dont know what thier doing. I have always traded and hauled mined goods and assisted with mining operations in groups. So.. I suppose with the mechanics in mind... we can.. deduce that if we can get new players to cooperate. Is there a way to make the mining mod benefit higher yields to grouped miners? More then it does now possibly by a different rubric or equation Im not sure if single miners are the problem? cannon? the nature of the complaints? But it may go a long way to force working together if the number of miners give the biggest boost to mining and not so much by the id but the fleet size. I am unsure if this is feesable but.. its the only other idea I had today at work... Where it came from? Again.. on my neverwinter nights server the only thing thats more important then GOLD to buy LEET GEARS is XP. Xp determines levels and your characters power (duh) but in my servers case some dungeons give more then others. So.. when i released a new dungon and people were reaping the xp.. Folks.. began to fight over the kills.... which was stupid.. So i put a little nerf into SINGLE Xp gain i made it so that you needed a party of 3 to get a normal xp gain in the dungeons and it would add a bonus up to 6 people. it balanced because the larger the party the tougher the spawns and thus the more xp raked in by difficulty. Dungons arent the only way to get xp though.. you can always have sex witht he admin for rp xp. Cause im a dirty whore and i like attention. Make a pirate hunter,do something usefull. Some players like me don't want to change a character like one changes a shirt. If you can, fine. I want to keep my main character and all the roleplay I did with him. This trial takes the foundation away (and it destroyed all IMG Dublin roleplay today. We tried, it was no use). And I'd like to add an aspect on pirates: Pirates are not the problem for miners/traders/haulers. They are what makes trading/mining/hauling interesting. There is nothing more boring than shooting rocks in a safe, empty system or running through empty systems hoping not to make contact! Your trader/miner might be happy not to see anybody and reach their goal unharmed. The players should be wishing for (good) meetings and interesting interaction. Pirates are a part of that interaction. And hopefully you meet roleplayers. But even with a certain quota of problematic not-roleplayers on the pirate side out there, their existance is what makes trading/hauling/mining interesting and what triggers roleplay interaction again (scouts, preemptive strikes, diplomacy, etc). Never run into XA have you. Basically it is "Drop all cargo,or we keeeel you". So might imagine no one stops. Cause win or loose you loose your cargo. But they do RP it. Their is some out their that yell "drop all cargo" and then start counting down, pew pew. The future of mining? - Decerebrated.Individual - 03-03-2011 Someone needs to tune profits better. Make lots of trade runs and mining spots which are all equally profitable. Herding instinct will still make everyone do the same thing and fight about it, but then at least you did the right thing to try and make it better. The future of mining? - Ingenious - 03-03-2011 ' Wrote:Someone needs to tune profits better. What an easy task </sarcasm> I think that turning mining off outright is overkill. I think that establishing locations for gas mining is a good idea and would counterbalance the Dublin overkill that's characterized the mining mod up to today. I think that the forumods shouldn't arbitrarily delete my post this time. The future of mining? - mizerie - 03-03-2011 In my opinion official mining factions should do only mining operation, without trading their ore.In this case, traders will be encouraged to buy ore from miners, and all will be happy with their profits. Another thing...Official mining factions should defense their fields by independet miners (even those who have ID and IFF like official faction, but works like independents). In this case all players will be encouraged to join official factions.Help them to join a faction.Make it easier. And will remain only independent traders, freelancers and merch's (who should not be able to fly transports) Groups of indie pirates or traders should be requested like "faction request" after they present their story/role-play. I hope my english was good enough to make me understand. |
