The Admins/Devs don't really OWE it to you to give you a vote...or make your vote have any consequence whatsoever.

Your opinion, right or wrong as you think it may be, didn't matter before you joined this server, and it doesn't necessarily matter any more/less now just because you've been here awhile. You play here at the will and behest of the folks running things. Simple as that. If they wanted to pull the plug on the server in the next 5 minutes, they could, and there's nothing you could do to stop it.

Sure...it's nice if they want to take your opinions, or opinions of official faction players, into account before they make major changes, but they are NOT required to do so.

So, please stop your entitlement attitude, and instead maybe start showing a little more thankfulness that you even get to play here at all, and for FREE. It's part of the problem.

Yes, I play for free. That doesn't mean that there isn't a contract.

To ensure work of Discovery Freelancer server.
To be fair and treat all players equally, independent of their level and faction alignment.
Not to mix server roleplaying with server administration in any way.
Not to ignore any cases of server rules violations that are reported.

if the social contract is breached, then players will leave. I hear that entropyis nice this time of year

The server works, we are treating no one any less here than we usually do, administration and roleplaying are not being mixed in a way that constituted powergaming or metagaming here (this is a development thing), and if you want my ass fired for ignoring rule violations in this thread, then the irony of claiming I'm mad about not getting a Corvo is so thick you could drown fish in it.

Then why on Earth are the devs stills try desperately hard to change these ships, when the new poll currently suggest 72% the people want the caps to stay but in a different way ?

When was the last time you massively nerfed a faction like this? (Aside from factions who lost official status and were effectively removed)?

The entire appeal of the Zoner faction is that there was so much freedom in it. You could be anything as a Zoner, from the nameless fighter jock all the way up to Cpt. Picard/Kirk, sticking to his guns and deciding the fate of millions by his moral choices. This is a flavor of roleplay that you cannot get from any other faction.

You are taking that latter role away, and crapping on a whole bunch of people's established roleplay in the process; effectively removing roleplay opportunities from the faction. Now everybody who isn't a fighter pilot is a transport pilot.

Quote:nor would I have anything against Zoners having capital fleets if their lore allowed for it.

Except it does. I have argued for why it does in the past. Furthermore, I have argued that if caps are to be removed, pretty much every other non-house faction should have their caps removed -before- the Zoners, whom form the backbone of less-than-legitimate trade Sirius-wide. Our coffers should be -deep- compared to, say, the Outcasts, Order, Corsairs, Hessians, Rogues etc etc whom in some cases have trouble even feeding themselves. And yet according to you, we can't afford to field a defense fleet to protect our holdings? What is a 'superliner' supposed to do against the occasional conflict with any of the aforementioned groups? Besides die and be laughed at.

I'll say it plain. Zoner lore changed the moment Disco decided that capital ships were something that could be fielded by factions that were not house militaries. If these pirate and paramilitary groups can do it, so can we. It's not fair for you, the dev team, to pigeonhole us back into our vanilla state while all of these other factions have turned into powerhouse military forces.

You should be -expanding- the Zoner faction, not reducing it. We should be exploring and claiming new territory and expanding outward. This is completely in line with the spirit of the original Zoner faction. There is nothing in vanilla that says Zoners are inherently opposed to being a part of a large nation; only that they disliked the nations they were originally a part of and sought to leave and forge their own destiny. You should be progressing our story accordingly. Instead, it has sat idle for several mod iterations.

Edit: Oh, pardon me. I forgot. You're not -removing- the aforementioned role, just taking it away from all but the most special of the community's snowflakes. My mistake.

Then what hinders you from playing your new ship out as a battleship?

Ya know, I think they are trying to whittle down the playerbase so that when the game eventually dies it won't be that big of a loss for them.

Those who have a deep story behind their ship should have nothing to worry about regarding their Nephilims. If you really need the Nephilim, then you request to have it via SRP.

What's stopping the people who don't want to lose their Nephilim from doing it?

the lore that might be messed up - which was made up by the factions? ( like can doc holiday still RP med one, or can osi still RP the contruction of the nephilim class? ) - or are you in fact more concerned about the stats.

if its the stats - then you can cease your rants - and simply wait, cause as was written in the OP - there are no stats yet - only suggestions. so you may see them soon enough - if it is decided that going for transparency was indeed a good idea opposed to simply give you the results when its done.

Having a constructive disagreement about the future of Zonerdom is not a rant, Jinx. It's an error to assume that I have an emotional attachment to a fictitious starship.

Nor am I attempting to gangbang your idea because I have some sort of personal apathy against you - I do not. I am concerned about a lack of Roleplay Objectivity, and member dialogue, a message I will continue to repeat until you cease ignoring such.

A lack of transparency is extremely easy for you, and exactly what I would desire were I in your shoes; It would permit me to screw the Zoner community without being subject to feedback contrary to the success of my idea.

A lot of you guys appear to be insinuating that I'm crabby about a potential nerf to a ship I possess. Considering a lot of you are also admins, you could check my account list and discover that is not the case - I own no nephillim, see no nephillim, nor require no nephillim. Aim not to contort the subject matter here.

And Highland... What? You seem to be assuming everything I utter manifests as personal "Smarmy Zoner" insults. When I typed "Your country", I was referring abstractly - I neither know where you live nor care; I'm not going to insult someone for nationalistic reasons (edit: that reads a little more curtly than I intended originally, ouch).

I respect you as a member of the community - stop assuming that I'm trying to decapitate you and breathe through the nose.
