Topic: Convoy Report, Incident at Dabadoru

Convoy Participants:

In order of convoy formation:
  • BES Stoat, Jan Peters, Bottlenose gunship
  • BES Hawking, Mark Sanders, Shire
  • BES Tresher, Andy Tresher, Shire
  • BES Crowley, David Jamison, Shire
  • BES Charles III, Johnathan Matthews, Percheron
  • BES Whittle, James Barnes, Shire
Convoy Information:

The group of six Bowex vessels set out for Omicron Delta on the late afternoon of the 23rd of November. Prepared for a long journey, the gunship BES Stoat provided protection for the four Shires and one Percheron filled with supplies for the BHG Core. A list of the delivered goods can be found appended to the report. Due to complications upon our arrival, the convoy only arrived back in New London with several days delay.

Convoy Incidents:

As we arrived at Dabadoru, our scanners picked up multiple contacts approaching our position. Most of our transports had already finished mooring procedures and were unloading their cargo, when Dabadoru's control tower identified them as vessels belonging to the Order. Due to the obvious hostility between the two groups, I advised all transport captains to stay cautious and finish mooring as quickly as possible.

Seeing our vessels supply the BHG installation appeared to be a surprise to them, and after threats of violence from their side, our attempts at convincing them to refrain from attacking civilians were in vain. Two cruisers and several snubs opened fire on our convoy.

While the station's crew was preparing a wing and the defense grid forced the attackers to remain at a distance, we had no choice but to resist and try minimizing the damage. However, the BES Stoat suffered a critical hit from a long range missile during one of many attempts at driving the second cruiser away from the station. The strong impact took out a nearby hostile fighter, inflicted severe damage to the ship hull and trashed the on-board electronics. Luckily, none of the crew was injured, yet the local engineers on Dabadoru are still busy repairing the ship. The damage on our transports was much less dramatic, with the worst case being the BES Tresher. The captain reported having much of his external equipment and shield generator damaged beyond repair - The shire made its way back to Scarborough with temporary replacements from Dabadoru.

Other Notes:

Despite the attack, the following supplies were successfully delivered to Dabadoru station. Marked are the supplies delivered by the last transport of the convoy, the BES Whittle, on which the Order may have obtained scan data.
  • 750 FloraGro
  • 2781 Food Rations !
  • 2500 HazMat Canisters
  • 2000 High-Temperature Alloys
  • 3250 Industrial Materials !
  • 500 Light Arms !
  • 500 Nuclear Devices
  • 1250 Ship Hull Panels
  • 1500 Synth Paste
  • 500 Tea !
  • 750 Tobacco !
The events during this convoy are worrying, and further hostilities are to be expected. This raises the question whether we should reconsider our operations in the area, or negotiate a new price to cover additional expenses - the Order seems to have no reservations about using deadly force, sending out convoys without additional protection would certainly be too dangerous.

Topic: Inquiry into the loss of the Honey Badger

Internal Memo:

Sir James, it is with regret that on such an auspicious occasion that I must send you this memo.

Following the near loss of the BES Honey.Badger last evening during a our Anniversary Convoy, I feel that I must tender my resignation pending a formal inquire into how such a disaster could occur.

For my part I offer the following information taken from the Badger’s communication logs following her retrieval to Baltimore Shipyard:

The Convoy had just finished celebrating the 753 Anniversary of Bowex the convoy was in orbit of Planet Pittsburgh and was breaking formation and moving off down the trade lane to Fort Bush / Baltimore Shipyard. As usual I was at the rear, as the Supervisors Mark Sanders and Jan Peters had positioned themselves at the front of the Convoy; I don’t know what the attraction is to be at the front, perhaps it’s because the front ships rarely get attacked and it’s safer up front, this I believe to be the first mistake. Granted, an experienced Captain should be at the lead of the Convoy, but the experienced men should be spread across the length of the convoy and too many times I have been left at the rear of the convoy sorting out the stragglers.

I then realised that our so called escort, the HMS-Invictus and her fighter wing had left Pittsburgh orbit and set off down the trade lane; that was the second mistake, there were 3 ships (not including Tim Jones in his Havoc) still in orbit so why had the escort left? This is for the Admiralty to investigate, but I would like to lodge a formal complaint against the commander of the Invictus for moving off and leaving the rear of the convoy unprotected?

The BES Churhill then had problems docking with the trade lane, why is beyond me, it’s a straight line from the Docking Rings to the Trade Lane so how Mr Silvain, or whoever was at the helm, missed the lane is beyond me! Having said that though, this took us by surprise and we had to take evasive action and were put out of line of the trade lane; the BES Churchill used her cruise engines, we waited until she reached the next TL-Ring, but the ring at Pittsburgh must have been bugged as we could now not dock either and so too had to use cruiser engines to get to the next trade lane; that was the third mistake.

The next thing I know a goddamn Reaver is upon us (Titanium.Reaver) where from is another mystery, he had obviously come down the Trade Lane from Fort Bush, but how did he slip by a 10+ ship convoy? A convoy with a Destroyer as an escort with a fighter wing, which adds yet another mistake.

When I sent out the Mayday only Miss Hidamari responded! Where were the fighters? Kiriko was the Scout for the convoy, the ship furthest away from our position, not the closest! Why did the Invictus stay with the convoy at West Point, the convoy was safe and with 12 guns each, nobody in their right mind would attack 10 ships with 120 guns between them!?!?

I would at this point like to praise young Tim Jones for his valiant efforts to help defend the Honey Badger, considering he is only a trainee and has flown only a handful of convoy escorts he stood his ground and tried his best to keep the Reaver off us.

I do hope he pulls through, he was badly burned when he ejected from his Havoc and is still in a coma at the Medical centre on Planet Manhattan.

Finally the part that really gets to me, is than Jan Peters has the cheek to send me a message asking why it took me 5 minutes to report my position! He’s lucky I’m still in Liberty as I’d punch his bloody lights out for a comment like that, It was in fact 1 minute and 53 seconds between the Mayday and our position being reported; considering we were under heaving fire and trying to evade in a Debris Field I think that was a bloody good response time! I’d like to know how many convoy’s has he flown on where he is the rear ship?

For my part however, I nearly lost the Honey Badger, I was slack, slow and slovenly on getting the rear ships into the lane, I was too joviant about our celebrations and did not consider the dangers that perhaps were awaiting us; to this end I therefore will take a leave of absence as the Trade Director until the report has been completed.

I would like to this opportunity as my last act to recommend commendations for the following people:

Tim Jones - ExSec pilot, he stayed with us till the end.

Kiriko Hidamari - She was the only ship that responded to our Mayday

Respectfully and forever in your debt,

~Barnes

Sir Cromwell, Members of the Board,

The Director of Exploration and security has asked me to head the inquiry into what went wrong during the anniversary convoy. The Majority of the way towards Liberty went fine and dandy with little problems.

According to what I can deduct from the convoy’s communication and navigation logs the trade-combine did their job to the expected standards. They stuck to the guidelines as were set up by my own department in terms of convoy ordering, experienced captains in the front and one at the rear with the rest of the convoy following in seniority. Stragglers can be sorted out easily and yet there is a strong person in the front.

Upon arrival on planet Pittsburg communication was not at sufficient standards. Instead of having a strong Ex-sec lead coordinating the entire move the task was left to the Bretonian armed forces escort, more specifically the communication center on the HMS Invictus.

One could argue that the BAF escort we had was not trained in convoy movement and therefor shouldn’t even be tasked with this move in the first place. The actions undertaken by the escort could be considered questionable. I believe this is due to questionability.

My recommendations:
  • The establishment of a proper back-up communication network via neural net relays. Preferably a voice activated system.
  • A fleet inspection by an EX-sec agent or experienced trade captain prior to large convoy movements.
  • Re=establish the certification system for convoy escorts and trade-vessels. Opening these training opportunities and certifications to trusted partners would be highly recommended.
  • Offering the BAF convoy security training for entire fighter wings as to improve our relation and partnership with larger convoys of national importance.

Our thoughts go out to those injured in the attack and we hope to have them with us again soon.
Richard Farbridge, OBE

Convoy Participants:

BES Churchill, Jack Silvain, Shire.
BES Crowley, Mr.Dave..., Shire.

Convoy Information:

We launched from PT with a total of 7960 units of Cobalt Ore.Every thing went smoothly on the way to liberty except that we took a wrong turn, which was Leeds gate, Anyway we headed to Manchester hole and completed our trip to Denver with nothing to stop us.
We loaded another shipment of 7960 units of Superconducters and headed back to Snowy to supply the IMG fellas at Aland.
We completed our journey to Aland and dropped the load there.
The Shires are moored there for the mean time.

Convoy Incidents:

While we were headed back in Manchester we faced a pie-rat at the lane to NL, But our 24 nice guns and a good guy from the Bretonian navy scared him of, Though he managed to inflict some damage to the Crowley.

Topic: Port Talbot Defence

Scott,

For some inexplicable reason this morning Port Talbot was almost destroyed!

In 2 waves the Corsairs sent Legates and Ossie Capital ships to attack the base; fortunately the crew did manage to hold out till relief did arrived, but in the process 40 crewmen died and the 2 weapons platforms were seriously damaged.

We need to coordinate better supplying of Port Talbot and better defence. I do believe another Weapons Platform is under construction, we need to speed this up a.s.a.p.

Furthermore I think we should lodge an official complaint with the Administrators of Freeport 1 as the Battleship (HMS-Furious) that went to assist from the Norfolk fleet saw a Legate Destroyer moored at Freeport 1, this is a flagrant disregard of Zoner policy not to allow House fleets to moor their vessels at a Freeport, unless I am mistaken?!!

In the meantime I have sent Mr Sanders with the BES Hawking to take medical supplies to PT and I will be sending the BES Whittle to assist with repairs.

Yours in service to the Realm,

Mr J. Barnes

Topic: Sprague development and security

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

I contact you with regard to several issues I would like to address.

It is with great concern I learned about the offensive against Port Talbot of the 28th, and I had to admit that only the relentless support of the Armed Forces spared it the same fate as Port Smallwood. However, we cannot rely on them to save our investments the next time such a grave mistake happens, even more so with the worsening conditions at the Gallic front. As Mr Barnes has voiced, it is important that we take action now and improve the security in Omega 3. The evidence recorded of a Corsair warship unmooring from Freeport 1 is worrying. I will take it into my own hands to contact the people responsible for the freeport and demand that appropriate measures be taken.

In light of these recent events and more frequent attacks on the Sprague project, I urgently suggest the establishment of a dedicated defense wing, stationed and maintained on Port Talbot itself. Such a squad would likely consist of several fighter and bomber vessels piloted by our trained security pilots, ready to be deployed at any time and dispose of unwelcome intruders.
I took the liberty to have my office work out a price estimate. Depending on the desired equipment and number of ships, it would be an investment in the range of 150 M to 250 M sirius credits, the details however would have to be determined by our ExSec division.

I am pleased to hear the construction of a third defense platform has been completed so swiftly, and I would like to congratulate the Trade combine on their initiative in this regard. Further enhancing the defensive grid should be considered, possibly by another Type 2 platform, or an anti-snub installation like King's Cross uses it. I am very interested in hearing opinions from the ExSec division on this matter.

To move on to a different topic, I hear good progress is being made in Port Talbot's development and preparations of planetside colonization efforts. At the same time, news from the northern front are not quite as positive, ranging from reports of stagnancy to such of an advance of the Gallic fleet. I believe that it is time to start planning the evacuation of Leeds' population on a large scale.
The establishment of a Refugee Shuttle program would likely exceed the capacity of liners available to the Colonial Authority division. I would like to be informed which liners of the Bowex fleet could be reassigned to this task, as well as an evaluation of whether a cooperation with companies such as Orbital Spa & Cruise is encouraged.

I am looking forward to an answer and further progress on the Sprague colonization project.

Good evening!

Now, I don't know what's gotten into this self-proclaimed border patrol, but I must say I didn't quite believe my eyes when I witnessed one of their liners QCP|Queen.Amidala attacking a civilian IMG Uruz class ore transport right in front of King's Cross and the eyes of myself and the captain of the BES Fleming. Heck, that captain didn't even care that some of his shots hit the station's hull!
After ignoring my instructions to hold his fire, I made the quick decision to assist the victim - Sadly, I could not prevent the destruction of the XT-22"Ramona". After a small chase the privateer vessel managed to get away and docked at Canterbury station.

I have temporarily deactivated the QCP's access codes as a result, as I find this course of events to be unacceptable and estimate the possible consequences of this captain seen docking at our installations as too dangerous. I will leave the decision of how to deal with this situation up to you.

Senior supervisor Peters' reaction to this situation has been praiseworthy. It is merely unfortunate that the ALG contractor was destroyed while the brigand was not. In light of the evidence presented to me, I will be rescinding said vessel's docking rights on all Bowex stations. I will be requesting the same of our counterparts within the BMM.

Such open and blatant piracy serves to undermine Bretonian law, and destabilise the previous working relationship our corporation has had with the QCP. I am authorising an extension of their docking ban at King's Cross until we can contact their commanders and ascertain just what on earth their captain thinks he is doing.

The Police Authority will be informed of the incident, and Peters' guncam evidence passed along. I am charging Trade Manager Peterson with contacting the Queen.Amidala's captain and executing my orders to deny him safe haven.

First massive gold ore transport departed 09/02/820 for Rheinland and to meet up with their counterparts of DHC. The first few systems were not much of a trouble only one lone corsair freighter in Cambridge who was quickly chased away by our escorts. But on arriving in Stuttgart it all changed as four sairs lay in a ambush looking to rob the convoy.
The convoy flew in a defensive circle around borderstation Ulm, meanwhile RM dispatched a wing of fighters to assist our brave escorts in defence of the convoy, although our shires gave of a barrage of fire which only a insane pilot would face to enter. But they are sairs after all, cocky bastards. After this incident we could continue our way to Pl New Berlin and offload our gold ore. Taking a quik beer DHC loaded each ship with Aluminium ore and they did send several ship along with destination Stokes smelter in Leeds.

  • DHC-Tegernsee
  • DHC-Aalen.
  • DHC-Muritz.

Right on our way back we encounter no trouble but maybe that was due to the heavy Rheinland escort they provided us with until omega-3, a cruiser and several fighters. We arrived at Stokes station without incident. A perfect convoy that provided our industry with a lot of raw materials.

On a second note when i meet the skipper of the DHC-Muritz i might place my fist in his face for the lack of disrespect he showed towards the Bretonian industry in the end, maybe i'am much affected to it due to the fact my husband works for BMM. Although i can't proof it he shot several tradelanes in my face, even after multiple times from my side asking him not to do it he played the innocent man. Shame i don't have pictures. Also his entire behaviour towards me was rude. You may ask captain Barnes about it.
