The future of mining? - Jack_Henderson - 03-03-2011 ' Wrote:Oh the lawful vs pirate hate. It burns in all of us! : ))))))) I completely understand that it's ridiculous not to pay 1 million to a pirate. For 1 million I do not ever bother getting my escort into a fight because it's a waste of time and a risk. I paid 5 millions to well-organised, roleplay-pirates even though we had 3 VHF escorts for 3 Heges in Arry field. Because they earned it oorply. Basically: You play with the wrong guys. Come to decent roleplayers and get decent roleplay. Bring roleplay and you most often get some back. But, honestly, most pirate roleplay is so thin that it can be compared to the worst of powerminers, so this is an endless spiral of "You change, no U, no U!". I'm not into this lawful-unlawful stuff. I just see that there is this unhealthy tendency to hit on the one part of the problem (miners and their shortcomings) while other groups that are at least equally bad if not worse jump on the band waggon and join the "hit the miners" to get their own situation improved. Quote:Another thing is - I haven't seen miners with escorts in a while, why should pirates be in bigger numbers if miners go solo? Just employ a healthy bit of escort there, miners, and you'll be fine even if the nearest base not 25K away but 30. I can only talk for IMG Dublin. We almost never send our haulers alone because we love a good convoy, we like the roleplay we gother inside the convoy and we also appreciate the sources of dangers that lurk on the way because they provide fun and tension for something that would be utterly boring stuff. And no: Escort does not have ANY benefit in a mining field. The Hegemon always dies. It's a fact. Escorts are there to keep miners entertained and to provide roleplay in a mining field, organise the haulers and do the communications with intruders. They get paid for it. That's their only purpose because defending against an attack is not possible - which is why only mining factions employ escorts in mining areas (not because they can lolmine more lolcredits for lolbattleships) but because it's teamplay and escorts want to do something and earn something and have their gameplay recognised and valued. The future of mining? - Igloo - 03-03-2011 Seems to me most of the complaints and beefs with mining are within the rules. When someone invests alot of time into it, it can be extremely frustrating to have an hour blasted away. The answer being: Rise drop rates, lower selling prices. It's not rocket science. But yeah, it can't save Hegemon usually. Well, be creative. Repair Ship escort? And yes, i'm just posting here because i've updated my sig. The future of mining? - Coin - 03-03-2011 and with this, the whole purpose of MMC has died. no rocks to shoot means that we can now concentrate on killing BMM. yay! Involuntary or really clever saracsm implied? =) I corrected that for you: [...] no rocks to shoot means that we can now concentrate on killing BMM. Eh... they are not on the game because there are no rocks to shoot and BAF are not interested because there is nothing to protect that you could attack.... The future of mining? - The_Cro_Legend - 03-03-2011 when it will be turned on???????? :(:(:(:(:(:( The future of mining? - Tomtomrawr - 03-03-2011 Still not seeing any evidence to support these claims of "constant complaints" and "player behaviour problems". So, please, can you provide us with this evidence by adding it to the first post? The future of mining? - Avalanche - 03-03-2011 The majority who I have found that want mining back on, are infact those who joined when the mining mod was active. Its mainly people who joined in 2010 and 2011 that whine for it to return. Not everyone, just the majority. Everyone goes "Now we must get our credits x5 slower, will never be able get a capital ship now!" and nonsense like this... when I ask you, how do you think the rest of us who have been here for 2+ years managed? We traded/bounty hunted/pirated, etc. The future of mining? - Toaster - 03-03-2011 So... this may have been mentioned before, but I will not read through 50 pages of posts. So... A) What becomes of the Junkers, now that they dont have any... junk? B) What's with the poor new players? Helium mining is (as far as I know) the only way to make any money at the very beginning. Now what do they do? Fly around in a Starflea / CSV and lolwut in New York? Edit: About New York. I was just pirating in Cali, checked New York in the chat window and it was fuller than ever (in my memory at least). And that with only ~160 players online. Or they could do misisons, or join a faction, or trade in a starflier. I did it. Then get a rhino, then a Armoured transport etc. |
