Order Cruiser - Jinx - 07-18-2008 your model looks like it has a polycount of something like 1000 - 1200. ... you do know that even vanilla capships have a polycount of up to 9000? - you can easily add more stuff to it - my average ships have roughly 6500, the juggernaut has around 10000 ( but you hardly see many of them on one screen - so who cares ) ships with a polycount of 1000 are a thing of the past. - the engine can deal with more polygons and todays computers can do so as well. i am sure you can add more stuff to it. unless your round edges on the ship are modelled round edges....... Order Cruiser - Xing - 07-18-2008 actually, it -doesnt- look that high polycount. But maybe you have thousands of useless, unseen poly you didnt delete while modelling. occurs quite often to starting modellers. Model is good, just need a good texture on it. I think its detailed enough as it is in matter of 3D stuffs I mean. Order Cruiser - Turkish - 07-18-2008 I've finally uploaded the vanilla ship pack to Megaupload, I'll post the link later. Why is that important? Well Tenacity it gives you the ability to use the actual Order textures! But it does need more detail I think, assuming you've kept your poly count low I would say you have a good margin of three to four thousand to play in because reduction without trouble. Order Cruiser - Tenacity - 07-18-2008 It has a lot of hidden polys, it may not be too much higher than what you estimated but it's definitely up there... I cant remember how to use the polycounter in 3ds max >.< Went and put more of a bronze texture on it though, looks a little better (of course, if it gets put in itll be using textures from freelancer, I just dont know how to import them): Order Cruiser - Jinx - 07-18-2008 oh, come on - a few air intakes ( yea - for the tons of air in space ) and - and and.... stuff! - ok, i overload my ships with "stuff" i guess - but i love it =) - my ships look messy .. hehe. on a more serious note - it looks too small for a destroyer - errr... "more stuff" helps hehe. - ok - its bigger than a gunboat for sure, but from the looks of it, it would be to a corsair cruiser as a barghest is to a red catamaran.... Order Cruiser - Turkish - 07-18-2008 For the polycounter the try hitting your "7" key in your current viewport, hehehe. Order Cruiser - Turkish - 07-18-2008 What version of 3dsMax are you using? Order Cruiser - Tenacity - 07-18-2008 ' Wrote:What version of 3dsMax are you using? 6.0 I think Anyways... I imported the Rhino from jazz's converted .cmp files... and I about have a rhino mk2 done =) Maybe it can serve as another armored-transport style ship, only like 500-600 cargo but allowing it to use transport shields and such. Order Cruiser - Jazz - 07-19-2008 you know, I can convert textures to useable for you too. |
