It's the way you ask, that makes some people give and help you.
Personally, I prefer trading and working for my money, just like you
but there are some new players, that really have big problems with that.
(takes too long - find the right trade-routes - wanna have action without waiting-time)
But to answer your question:
Yes.... sometimes you only have to ask for it, sometimes it is an offer, without asking for it. (happened to me, too - did refuse, but there were times, I wished, I had... :) )
You see, we got a cool crowd on this server, taking care for new members on disco
