New givecash/banking user commands - Dopamino - 09-30-2008

I never, ever said that the victim should get the thief's cash. I just want it to be against the rules to steal. Is that so horrible? Yeesh, don't put words in my mouth.

I stand corrected ... here's the objectionable statement ...

' Wrote:/signed, for i dont want my money to be disapearing for no reason, and also being able to see who took money would help when finding out people "hack" your code.

The punishment should be loosing all their cash, but that cash goes to the person they stole it off.
essentially a refund and extra for the inconvenience.
But having SS's is essentially again.

BUT ... Dopamino ... you've gotta think there's a way you can role play this without making some ridiculous new rule. We've got more rules than we need as it is. What we REALLY need is a caution to people that "choose" to use this option. There should be a statement that says, "Use the bank commands at your own risk." This way if you choose to use the bank commands, you take the risk and hold the admins and everyone else harmless. You get warnings on most every product you purchase. Bottom line ... you take the risk by using these commands.

Just like a trader who flies by a bunch of pirates takes their lives into their own hands. They get pirated ... admins are gonna say ... well why'd you go into Sigma 13 via the jump holes? Piracy is role play ... so is hacking a character's bank account. There's no rule that says you cannot pirate (steal) from a trader is there? Its the same thing.

OK a question
first

if i would make a mistake and use a space in my pasword like ( i am sure it will happen someday)

/setcash mycharacter 12345 67890 or /drawcash mycharacter 12345 67890

my code would be shown in group chat, or even worse in sys chat so everyone in the group or system knows my password.

Is it then possible to set a new password immediatly or is that not possible?

oh ehh, the shown password is just an example:P

great work Cannon... its makeing setting a new char much easier :yahoo:

Yes. It could happen, but only if you mistype the command name, something like /getcash mychar 12345
100,000 rather than /drawcash. If you do this FL will just print your text in the system/group/private chat.

If you type the command in console chat then there is no risk of other players seeing a mistyped "/drawcash blah...".

As long as the command starts with "/drawcash " (with a space after it) there should be no risk of other players seeing a password due to mistyping - at least as far as I can tell. It doesn't matter if the command parameters are wrong, the command will never be printed on the group/system chat.

By the way, when you type "/setcashcode mychar 12345 67890" you'll get a message back saying "You have set your account code to 12345" (and not 12345 67890).

Any suggestions to make these commands more secure/robust/better are welcome.

Yes, it is possible to set a new password immediately, but you'll have to login as the character you were trying to drawcash from.

OK thx for explaining

(now going to find out how to type in console)

New givecash/banking user commands - Benford Calvert - 09-30-2008

to type in console you go into system chat (or any other chat) and hit the up arrow on you keyboard until you get console chat.

After so many plugins some still don't know him.

Hint: Try "/credits" in game...

Whoops. :$

Sorry, I haven't really used commands ingame, except for /invite and /givecash, maybe. :$

Any chance on the ability to limit the withdrawal amounts? So for a faction bank, for example, if you don't want people taking out more than a few mil at a time for setup ... ?

Maybe like a "/setdrawlimit <amount>" to be used from the bank?
