.:j:. JUNKER CONGRESS DIPLOMATIC CHANNEL - JunkerTown - 09-08-2009 Aye he has become quite a problem around Bornholm. I've seen him the last several days attacking all ships near the station. Not sure a cap is the best solution but for sure we need to take action. .:j:. JUNKER CONGRESS DIPLOMATIC CHANNEL - Hawk - 09-08-2009 ****Incoming Transmission**** ****Comm ID: Arbiter Jack Crow**** ****Location: Unknown**** Yes, this is indeed a problem. I have spoken with some of you on this matter already. It appears that the Battleship Megavolt has gone rogue and is not acting in union with the rest of the Rheinland Military. However, as long as it it still flying the Rheinland flag, an attack against it would be considered an attack against Rheinland. The battleship has been contacted several times by me an warned to stay away from Junker bases although its captain refused to give any response to my hails. We can address a formal complaint with the Rheinland government and ask that this fool be removed from his position as a battleship captain but that will require a little more visual proof than I now have and that is where I will need your help. I need everyone to record all interactions with this vessel and send me the evidence. Crow Out ****End Transmission**** .:j:. To: Junker Congress From: capt. Ben Hume Subject: Salvaged Harvester Drone unit ========================================================
Greetings, esteemed members of the Junker Congress! You probably don't know me, as I like to keep a low profile. I am an independent Junker and a captain of Leaden.Plunge, a Pirate Train transport ship. I operate mainly in the Border and Edge Worlds, providing remote bases with basic supplies and raw materials. Business has been good and I can't really complain about anything. But something unusual happened recently during one of my cardamine runs. Leaden.Plunge was flying through Sigma-13 - I chose an alternative route due to high Colonial activity in the Taus sector - and ship's sensors picked up unusual and alien energy spikes. My crew and I decided to investigate the origin of that energy. It was a very hard work and my navigation officer was having a hard time guiding the ship across the treacherous Yanagi Debris Field. We finally managed to pinpoint the source of the alien energy signal in A-5 sector of Sigma-13. Tension grew as we slowly approached the anomaly. 7 K, 5 K..., 2 K - scanning range. It was so obvious what the scanner showed on the screen, yet completely unbelievable! None of us suspected, not even in our wildest dreams, that we would find an inactive Harvester Drone in the remote depths of Sigma-13. This will be the discovery of the year! We were so excited, but also afraid. What if it suddenly wakes up and decides to eat us for lunch, we thought. But the thing appeared dead and unresponsive. All it did was emitting those sinusoid energy spikes. We towed the drone back to Yanagi Depot for closer inspection. Initial examination showed no visible exterior or interior damage. The Harvester should function properly, but somehow it wasn't. Engineers at Yanagi did the best they could, but they simply didn't have the right tools and experience for the job. I gave orders to unload a small amount of cardamine to make some room for the drone in Leaden's cargo hold. The drone was put in a small protective cargo container which was then filled with polyurethane foam to fix the drone inside. The journey back to Liberty was long and tedious, for we were all filled to the brim with anticipation. Cardamine was successfully delivered to Rochester base, and now we were free to fulfill our true mission. Course to Puerto Rico, Vieques Shipyard, was plotted and we were on our way... Three days later - Vieques Shipyard. Scientists and engineers confirmed the findings of Yanagi Depot crew. The Drone was in perfect condition, but it's AI data banks somehow got damaged or wiped almost completely clean. They said that even if they succeeded in reviving the drone, it wouldn't have a Harvester "personality". Sure, there were bits of data here and there, but not nearly enough for the drone to resume its Harvester functioning. I thought to myself, That's not bad, not bad at all. We don't need a Harvester roaming across Sirius, but I could surely use a guardian AI for my Leaden.Plunge. I wonder if we can bring it back to life... Scientists worked for 16 hours on that drone's AI system, installing AI components and software widely used in other non-Harvester, human-created AIs in Sirius. The result of this was a Harvester/human-created AI morph. We named it "JAI817~Dakini" as in Junker Artificial Intelligence (unit), created in year 817 A.S, code-named "Dakini". Dakini was given 3 main directives: 1) Protection of Junker property (bases, systems, ships etc.) 2) To grow and evolve as an AI that would benefit Junkers and itself. 3) To not fire on anyone, unless targets fire or show hostility first. Initial AI tests were quite astonishing. Dakini, probably due to its Harvester roots, shows great intelligence and potential for evolution. Even more surprising is that she seems to follow some kind of ethical and moral codex and has a sense of responsibility for her actions. Also, I'm glad to report that Dakini performed well outside of Vieques lab. Yesterday morning I took her with me on a trip to Rochester. During my stay on the base, she waited outside so she wouldn't cause any panic on Rochester's docking platforms. Half an hour into my business meeting we got reports that a big Corsair ship (yes, your read correctly - Corsair!) was attacking Junker and Liberty Rogue pilots outside of Rochester. Corsair's call-sing was something like "rus_no." ("no." being a number). Dakini's 1st directive activated and she successfully defended Rochester against the Corsair threat. She even managed to drove the Corsair gunboat/cruiser off! I must say, I'm very please with her. I thought it would be appropriate for you to know this in case you see JAI817~Dakini in space. She is my responsibility, but she also serves Junkers in need. // OOC: The above communication relates to the actual AI character of mine. .:j:. JUNKER CONGRESS DIPLOMATIC CHANNEL - Hawk - 10-14-2009 ****Incoming Transmission**** ****Comm ID: Arbiter Jack Crow**** ****Location: Thunder Bay**** You are quite right Captain, this "thing" is your responsibility. Since you are not a congressman, I will not instruct you what to do with it. Even if you were, what Congress pilots do on their own is their business as long as it doesn't create extra work or headaches for Bishop or myself. If you can control this thing, then it will remain your business and nothing more will be said. Should you find yourself unable to control it and it becomes a nuisance in the vicinity of a Junker base it will become something we will have to deal with. As long as you understand this, we will get along just fine. Crow Out ****End Transmission**** .:j:. JUNKER CONGRESS DIPLOMATIC CHANNEL - AndrzejB - 11-21-2010 [incoming transmission] [from: S/V_Zion; docked at Trafalgar Base] [subject: Phantoms] What is the diplomatic relation of the Congress toward a group calling themselves "Phantoms"? Or to be more precise, what is the level of hostility? Should we actively hunt down Phantoms whenever they show up in the proximity of Junker facilities/areas of operation or only act in self-defense? I am not asking for orders, merely for some guideline - since the Congress represents us all, I don't want to provide additional trouble for you. (The background is, had an encounter with strange vessel IFFed "Phantoms", owner of which stated that she ("Madame Psychosis") specifically hates the Junkers. Resulted in some pathethic attempts to shot my craft down.) C. J. Meeijn [end of transmission] .:j:. JUNKER CONGRESS DIPLOMATIC CHANNEL - JunkerTown - 11-21-2010 ***Incoming Transmission***
**Comm ID: James Trenton** *Ship ID: .:j:.JunkTown* Transmission Begins Phantoms actively hunt and kill us on sight with very little warning. We are doing all we can to protect ourselves from them since we have lost many souls to them already. They use capital ships to attack our ships and their idea of RP is "mmm Junker lets get em!" Our stance with them is a hope that they would leave us alone but recent actions show that won't be happening. ~Transmission ended~
.:j:. JUNKER CONGRESS DIPLOMATIC CHANNEL - AndrzejB - 12-05-2010 [incoming transmission] [from: S/V_Zion [video transmission] *the camera shows a man in his mid forties, in working clothes, unshaven, standing at the bridge of Salvager; behind him some people are welding metal plates* About the situation we've got in Bretonia... Well. I hope you guys won't be trying to get support from *the man hesitates* certain groups. It can bring us bad press. And, you know, once you invite them, it's very hard to convince them that the place *hand makes a gesture at the window, where the exterior of Trafalgar Base can be seen* actually belong to us. But let's get to the point. Suppose you do revoke docking rights to every individual they point us. Suppose they get angry, assemble a strike force and hit us. Badly. And suppose they damage the station enough to render the IFF receivers and scanners unoperational. *now you can see the man's hands playing with an explosive charge, with a remote detonator attached; resembles those of Zoner production* Just enough to - alas! - let in everyone that sends emergency signal. You know. It would be *the man winks* and very unfortunate. Especially for us, poor victims of this action. They would have to put at least a cruiser with an escort here and enforce the docking rights themselves. *the man sits in a chair, which is surprisingly similar to those used in Libertonian battleships two decades ago, but carries a lot of burn marks* Of course Bretonia have almost no craft to waste for such actions, maybe one crusier if they are lucky. And, accidentaly, no ground troops to drop in and secure the station. Supposed it happens... Might be interesting. Risky, but interesting. *the man waves at someone; fadeout* [end of transmission] |
