I'll admit, I'm a little angry, one of my Operatives brought a certain communication channel to my attention lately, and at first it didn't concern me whatsoever, it just seemed like the Libertonian Navy had deployed defensive placements they couldn't adequately secure and sunk quite the sum of money in doing so.
Then I noticed something that I frown upon, heavily.

I have always perceived both you and your associates as being men and women of virtue, you've even proven this to me through your actions in a few instances and through your willingness to help me during the more turbulent days of my career as a Naval Officer in Liberty. I'd like Mister Blackfriar to apologize for his crudeness and disregard for innocent life, or I will resort to placing a kill order against him for the sake of protecting the innocent from such reckless notions of violence, I'm also certain that the LPI would be willing to put forth a manhunt which would only further limit the clandestine nature of your operations you otherwise enjoy. Up until this point, I have done all I could to ensure that the activities of my Operatives was focused on other threats and away from you and your associates, though I'm sure there have been instances where they have disregarded this protocol and sought to combat you anyway, which I rather obviously cannot make a fuss about, lest I want them to question my loyalty.
But when it comes to threatening non-combatants, I cannot be any more clear about the fact that I despise it. I can arrange for the Grim Reaper to pay Mister Blackfriar and his fellow associates a visit if this condemnable behavior continues.
This isn't a threat, it's a promise, and just like you so often say, my word is Iron.

We might both share a vision of the future we want for our people, but are you sure these are exactly the same? What use is a future without at least the slightest amount of compassion? If my heart were steel I'd have let my countrymen rot in Alaska. I gave them this chance not because I saw opportunity for fame, recognition or my own profit. I did it because they didn't deserve to die the deaths of cornered dogs, they deserved a trial. Everyone involved should have been screened and tried for any crimes committed, not murdered without reason.
And what happened then? They turned their backs on every ideal that motivated me to help them to begin with. They sided with the Unioners, an embodiment of everything that's wrong with Rheinland. And we're back to square one except with a more rustic and less scenic venue. If you give up idealism and all notions of virtue. Then on what pillars do you want this future we both fight for to be built on? Take these two things away and you may as well turn us all into machines.
Since by your words, the statement made by Mister Blackfriar was just bluster, I'll refrain from having my finest Operative hunt him down. But you know me, and you know that any attempt to harm, abduct and ransom or kill the families of any person, is not something I can turn a blind eye to. And neither should you, the fact we stand above this is exactly why we're better than the systems we fight against. You give up these principles, and you become the very thing you dread. I made this mistake once, and if I can help it, I never want to commit the same error in judgement twice.

You are claiming that compassion and idealism are essential. Yet you also claim these virtues made you betray LN fleet positions which lead to Harmony's and LSF's survival, creating the Bering stronghold, an active thorn in Liberty's side during the most critical moment of Liberty's 800-year old history.
So at the same time you are advocating certain virtues but also admitting that those virtues created the greatest mistake of your life, I am not certain if a hundred lives of yours in service to the corporatocracy of Liberty could ever equal the damage you have caused to them with that single act of compassion.
The answer is very simple to your question, Director. We share a common vision and a future for the billions of Libertonian citizens. That is our goal. And for those people, and the billions that will come after them we cannot slacken, we cannot put forward the interests of a hundred or thousand servicemen, for they are just a drop in the ocean. They are so irrelevant that putting their interests forward is the true crime. But believe me, I am an extremely virtuous person and I would be the first to show compassion when this does not hinder our goals.
