Small ships with a BS scanner mounted will not be able to undock.I can totally see the reason for this, but this is kinda stupid for camera ships since they need them to find people RE: Battleship Scanners - Jack_Henderson - 08-27-2017 Edit: Okay, not such a great idea. The heat is killing meeeee! Brain = gone. I am not a dev, but wouldn't this be a really easy solution to do THIS: Step 1: Rename old "Battleship Scanner" to "Universal Moneysink Scanner" Step 2: Reduce the stats of the Ex-Battleship-Scanner and have it as the "Universal Moneysink Scanner". Step 3: Adjust the infocard of the BS scanner to fit the "not BS scanner any more" scanner. Advantage: no one will run into compatibility issues. No one Needs Con Transfers for ships. No one is forced to do unnecessary oorp Actions that no one wants to do anyway and who serve no one, plus only create a mess for everybody involved. Step 4: Take one of the unused silly stat Scanners like the restart one. Step 5: Rename it to "New Battleship Scanner" (the real new one) Step 6: Buff the silly stats of "unused silly old scanner" to "real New BS-Scanner" => avoided tons of Problems. => gives us 2 Money sinks => does not touch Hacker tech RE: Battleship Scanners - Skorak - 08-27-2017 You just made everyone with BS scanners on caps very sad. It's 200m per scanner and you're effectively telling people to eff themselves by wasting that much money. RE: Battleship Scanners - Sombs - 08-27-2017 I think his post was meant as a joke. Okay, my excuse is that it is 36°C here and my brain has melted hours ago. You are of course right. My plan is actually not really good. RE: Battleship Scanners - JonasHudson - 08-27-2017 Its easy, rename the current Battleship Scanner 'Long Range Scanner' and drop in a better scanner for cruisers and battleships. One like the old one with 25k range and about 10k cargo range, that only they could use. Either way people will lose out by a split or a compat plugin. This way caps wouldn't lose anything but a name and could still have an even better one for a cap specific moneysink. Just let them swap for free during the switch. I have to drop my money sink scanner from 4 non cruiser/battleships that I use often, or those with capitals have to keep the Longe Range Scanner /buy a separate battleship scanner. There's got to be something better than total restriction of the current BS scanner. I think the best answer (other than doing nothing) is to change the name of the scanner, and not have dedicated capital ship named scanners. It would simply follow that of course capitals will use Long Range Scanners in order to achieve optimal performance. I have been documenting every time I run into a GB or transport with a BS scanner and I know its about as much as those using them on capitals. And the 1 Billion creds worth of useless BS scanners I'll have as of the 3rd is not just as bad? Guess how I got the money to 'throw around'? I traded. If you don't have that time then enjoy the game without bringing down those that do. My credits are already earned and spent, do I get them back? But what about the 'sadness' of non cap users of the BS scanner? If Capitals really need one more advantage in the form of the longest range, there needs to another tier of scanner. Without it a lot of people get screwed either way by this. One of my ships I'd change because of its class, but 3 I probably just won't fly now instead of bother change. There's no reason to make them unflyable over their scanner as far as I'm concerned. Every time a change like this is made, it just causes irritation and results in less game time. I really don't think Capital flyers are losing out on finding lower classed ships that much because of them using the same scanner. I think Jack is thinking along the same lines, we don't want to throw up the pitch forks and torches so much but this change was always a harsh one that never seemed very necessary. RE: Battleship Scanners - Sombs - 08-27-2017 Your scanners won't be gone. You can still put them on ships that actually are supposed to use them. Or sell them, like I sold five of mine yesterday and got a billion for it. Not the worst deal, given that the Adv. Deep Scanner has an okay range that totally suffices for me. |
