If you are inferring one can learn a language using one of the above items, you are dearly mistaken.

Trust me, I've tried.

Perhaps bi-lingual players could translate the rules to benefit others.

What happened to the french version of buying a capital ship thread, that was in Athenian's thread?

Comon guys and Gals.

This is a RP server,

Shall we break that down to easy to read ROLE+PLAY= players interacting to get a maximum fun of our time on the server.

Now i am not a native English speaker, infact most of my English skills comes from online gaming as my school teacher was a  well ya all know.

We are on this server cuz we all like the Roleplay perspective of it, and it is, untill a prolly good guy comes along and starts gibberish in Russsian-Rumenian-Chinise-Marsian.

Now tell me what can a non English speaker contribute to Rp when he/she can write English.

Explain me that.

I can and like players that really and honestly try to write in English, some of it can be extremly hard to read but if you play along you will most of the time understand what the plater is trying to say, and then you take it from ther, and then you have shoved that laguagebarrier or not both of you can actually do RP and have fun.
But players that comes online and cant write a single English word, dont belong here, simply as it is a RP server and you have to understand and write English to interact here.

Edit: i after it was postet saw that i made some spelling mistakes, normally i would correct them, but in this i will not. I will just have you all to look at the qoute under my BOWEX sig. Even Admins do some fun posts

It is the Role -Play aspect that concerns me the most. for example: as an outcast patrolling Alpha, you come across a freelancer who has Outcast pilots in their hold. You say "drop the outcast pilots".This would be proper, considering I don't want my brothers captured by anyone. And all I recieve is a "no english" response. End result. No RP.
Next example. A level 53 player with a Civ ID. In private chat I suggest they check their ID because it isn't valid anymore. The response I get is silence. On next encounter with same character I recieve "no English"
I am not a screen print happy person..This is getting frustrating to me.
No, I don't have a solution. But there should be some type of requirement here.

Tanker

There is.

Quote:3.3 All messages in chat must be in understandable English, unless the chat is private and both members know the language being used.

So when you see that guy with his Outcast pilots - and he won't chat with you to Role Play - use the secondary function of RolePlay. PvP IS a part of Roleplay, albeit in my mind, a secondary part. Give him the comment, "Fine, you don't want to drop our boys, then I'll MAKE you drop them". Pew-pew...

hm. i Never learned english in school, nowhere. And i know that i make mistakes when i type something, and i am sure that i make them in future too. And yes i know how boring is trying to rp with someone who answer you : no english, And i know that it is frustrating for him too when someone is talking to him and he has no idea about what.

But,is that something that give you right to say that people, that can not type in english cannot play on disco ?....

(when you think yes, this server is in czech, how many from you can say thank you michal in czech language?...)

and when people that can not type in english are silent, and they are not disturbing your rp, or rp around, i dont see reason to make things for them harder...

Most of the german Team Fortress 2 servers i know are standing in Netherlands. And are they all talking dutch now? Just guess.

This server is all about Roleplay, ID and more and more. People are getting sanctioned for being Out Of Role Play. And that are mostly the people who cant talk english, or are just too lazy to read the rules, or made something wrong. I dont even know how i could play on a server where i wont understand a tiny little bit. I would get sanctioned and wont know why, wont know what happens, wont know will happen. I guess it would be really confusing for someone who will get transfered to Bastille. I guess they will just stop playing on the server.

Fact is, we cant do a thing for that. Even if you help them understanding the rules. They wont be able to play with us properly. They wont be able to get into the game really. But now they are starting to make groups of people who cant talk. The 3 Wildlife Smugglers for example. I talked to each one of them when i saw them on the server. And it was "I not english" and "English no".

Sometimes you get some "No English" folks that writes reports against you and you are the banned one for THEIR fakings. <-<

My thoughts on this issue: People shouldn't heckle just because other cultures don't know or understand our language well enough to RP. That said I do believe that there should be some sort of translator system put in place that would have peoples words put into the language of a player who speaks that language. Then in reply that person's language would be converted back to english for the rest of the players. Thus ilimanating the RP language gap.
